00:00I want to talk specifically about Jalen Brunson a little bit because with Wemby even though he's a
00:06young player as we talked about in the beginning of the show because he's so tall and Brunson is
00:11a small guard and we saw all the commentary about him being a small guard and it's hard to win
00:15as a small guard basically to win a championship there's been two small guards that have been the
00:21best player on a championship team okay Isaiah Thomas and Curry and that's it okay AI got there
00:27Tony Archibald won a title but not as the lead guy we've seen small guards exist but as the lead
00:33guy
00:34it's happened twice winning a championship others have gotten there Isaiah Thomas I mean as great as
00:39Chris Paul was we know that Isaiah Thomas and Curry and if Curry is taller than Brunson so what Brunson
00:45is looking to pull off is something that's very rare because whether it's the 50s to now basketball
00:51is a sport for tall people and while six foot one is plenty tall for life it's short for the
00:58NBA and
00:58it got me to thinking about this David versus Goliath situation when you look at when the stature is so
01:04tall and you look at Brunson the conventional wisdom is the tall guy will win and historically that's been
01:09the case but Brunson has this opportunity to sort of break that mold and that adds a level to me
01:16of
01:16intrigue into this series and you can't help it and the reason you know you can't help it is not
01:22because of you as a basketball fan it's you with knowing people that aren't a basketball fan go to
01:28your mother if she's still with you go to your grandmother go to your aunties right have them look
01:34at the game and I guarantee if she watches the game for two minutes she'll say well who's that little
01:39guy because you can't help but notice when you watch NBA basketball when a little guy is cooking
01:45everybody else it's something that you just noticed he has that gift and it's rare to see it
01:51on this stage we saw the AI beating Shaq and Kobe in the finals in that game and he does
01:58the step over
01:58Tyron Luke we all remember that moment from 20 some years ago and then they lost the series because
02:03Kobe was 6'6 and Shaq was a seven footer and those guys went on to win because that's what
02:09usually
02:09happens Brunson's trying to change that and if he pulls that off man I don't know what where he'll
02:18rank I don't know what we'll think about it but we know he'll go into the stratosphere but it got
02:22me
02:22to think about where is he right now with the Knicks where is he right now and I actually think
02:27I'm more
02:28qualified to talk about this because I don't have any emotion attached to any of these players okay
02:33right now I think that Jalen Brunson by bringing the Knicks to the finals is already a top four
02:39Knick of all time but he's not first and I'm going to say it out loud even if he wins
02:44a championship
02:45this year he won't be first all time he will absolutely be first of his era and he will move
02:51by two of the other people on this list let's get to the Mount Rushmore for Knicks all time
02:58you got to put Clive Frazier you got to put him number one all right two titles in 70 and
03:0573 he
03:06was the lead dog and we'll get to the guy who gets all the credit coming up he's number one
03:11and one
03:12title will not especially against a young Spurs team but regardless I don't care who they're playing
03:17one title alone doesn't put Brunson ahead of him he is number one for at least another year after this
03:24maybe longer okay he may be number one forever with the Knicks time will tell number two still
03:29has to be Willis Reed did nothing in that game but him going out there Will Chamberlain taking heat for
03:34that when Will when he did nothing is one of the things that should not knock him but he Willis
03:40Reed
03:40still belongs there I know there are certain Knicks fans of certain ages have are hating on this man
03:46but Patrick Ewing still is ahead of Brunson for now he's been to the finals he got to in game
03:51seven
03:51lost to a better team lost to a better center and um it looked like it could be unless that
03:57Jamaican
03:57Wemby or is that Patrick Ewing I don't know it could be Jamaican Wemby I don't know which is which
04:02and number four though is Jalen Brunson is absolutely Jalen Brunson I believe if Jalen Brunson wins he
04:08moves to second though he would move past Ewing and past Willis Reed who did nothing in one of those
04:14finals due to injury but he came out there and played and we know about the story meanwhile
04:18oh Frazier's out there doing all the work but Brunson will move up to number two not to number
04:24one but to me with what he's done this year and what he's done for this city these last two
04:29years
04:29he has become the a top four Nick ahead of Melo ahead of a lot of guys throughout history
04:35but he is not quite number one yet he's got to win more than one title
04:40you
