Transcript
00:00John, the Chicago Bears have made a splash by hiring Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben
00:05Johnson to be their next head coach. Give me your thoughts and analysis on this move and how this
00:11looks for both the Bears and the Lions going forward. Yeah, Cameron, the Bears moved quickly.
00:16Unfortunately for the Lions, their season came to an abrupt end Saturday night, which opened the
00:21door. It now lends to obviously the speculation that some negotiations were going on, some back
00:27channel movements were going on between the Bears and the representatives of Ben Johnson. But look,
00:32can you blame the Chicago Bears? Man, you look at the Detroit Lions offense, you had an up close look
00:39at your rival and what they were able to accomplish against against you. And when you have a young
00:45quarterback in Caleb Williams, you definitely wanted a offensive mind to come in and mentor a
00:52young quarterback. And obviously, there's no better option than Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben
00:57Johnson. It just stings, Cameron, because the timing of the hire comes so fast after a loss. And many
01:05fans now are left reeling, wondering, you know, did Ben Johnson put forth the best effort to help the
01:11Lions win? But look, bottom line, it is frustrating. It should upset many. You know, it's a rivalry between
01:19the Lions and the Bears. But when you are going to start to hear and read what kind of financial
01:24numbers Ben Johnson earned, it should taper off a little bit in regards to frustrations. But look,
01:31now Ben Johnson's in the division. And now the attitude should be from the fans, the coaching staff
01:38of the Lions that are still there and the players. He's now on the other side. He's a rival. And
01:42the
01:42mission at hand always is to be competitive and win the division. And right now, Ben Johnson's standing
01:48in the way. The Bears got an offensive mind, and they got somebody that is definitely top of class
01:54in regards to candidates. But you know what? The attitude we're going to have now in Detroit,
01:59out of sight, out of mind. It's moving forward for the Detroit Lions.
02:03John, the writing was on the wall for offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Thanks for all the time.
