00:00And then the other thing that I think caught a lot of people's attention and is going to be something
00:04talked about by a lot of people.
00:06I know you're going to look into it a little bit further as well, but your early impression of left
00:11guard Christian Mahogany, I just thought that he impressed.
00:14And I do think it's a little bit of a bold take to say that, oh, right away after one
00:18game against a subpar opponent that he should replace Graham Glasgow.
00:22But I think you have to put it into context that Glasgow dealing with something.
00:26He's banged up.
00:27He's nicked up.
00:27He's not healthy.
00:29When Graham Glasgow is healthy, I do think that he's the better, more experienced offensive lineman.
00:35But you at least can secure some depth with a player for the rest of the year that should something
00:40happen or you see something from Graham that indicates, hey, maybe he's not right or he's not performing as expected.
00:46You got a guy that can go in and I think can develop.
00:49I think everybody saw that he had good blocking technique, kept himself, limited the penalty, I think, to just one
00:55false start.
00:57And I do think that when you look at his overall game, I think he gave the fan base a
01:02lot of confidence that, hey, this guy can potentially be the left guard of the future.
01:06Hey, this is the reason why they invested a draft pick in selecting a Boston College offensive lineman, Christian Mahogany.
01:13I thought he performed well.
01:14What did you see from him?
01:15What did you like?
01:16And what's your reaction when you hear the fan base right away say, wait a minute, young guy right away
01:21could be a little bit better.
01:22We've seen Graham struggle a little bit.
01:23What's your reaction when you hear as well that he should jump right in and take over the job?
01:28You know, I'm not ready to go quite there yet.
01:30Graham Glasgow did sign a contract extension this past offseason for three years.
01:35So, you know, Graham's going to be here for the next little bit.
01:39But is he, is Mahogany potentially a rotational guy next year?
01:44Is Mahogany the right guard of the future?
01:46Kevin Zeitler's on a one-year contract.
01:48Is he the guy that steps in there?
01:50Like, who's to say?
01:51I mean, it's still early and it's only been one game.
01:54And obviously, you know, he played well on Sunday.
01:56But as a rookie, if he gets more time on the field, you're going to start to see some highs
02:01and lows.
02:02And while it probably wasn't perfect for him on Sunday, the one thing I will say that I was really
02:07impressed by was his ability to get down the field and block.
02:09When the Lions would go with their screen game, whether it was him just getting up to the second level,
02:14I thought he did a really good job getting up the field and helping out as a blocker beyond the
02:19line of scrimmage.
02:20And I think that's a talent that for a rookie who spent a lot of time, be it the preseason
02:25or the early parts of this year, on the sideline, like, that's something that you can really take and kind
02:30of be a feather in his cap.
02:32Like, I was really impressed with Christian Mahogany on Sunday.
02:35And if he gets the chance to start again, I think the Lions should continue to roll with him because
02:39he's a young player with a lot of upside.
02:42But if Graham Glasgow is healthy moving forward, I still think he's your guy.
02:46You can still utilize Mahogany to give one of the guards a break if you can find ways to get
02:52him in the game just so that you don't have to give somebody like Glasgow who, while he may be
02:57good enough to go moving forward,
02:59he may still be a little banged up, finding a series or two where you can throw Mahogany out there
03:04and help you out to kind of take a little bit of the load off of Glasgow.
03:08I think that could be an option.
03:10I'm not ready to say Mahogany has usurped Glasgow and is the starter moving forward.
03:15I'm not ready to say that.
03:16But I think there's a lot to be excited about with him and his potential.
03:19And I think that the sixth round pick did a really good job on Sunday.
03:23And so he can be viewed as a potential depth piece moving forward or as somebody who could in another
03:30year be ready to go as a starting member of the lineup.
