00:14don't care scott anderson 971 open lines 248 539 97 97 hey hope everybody's having a great
00:21tuesday uh yesterday the miles garrett trade sparked a debate about whether or not you can
00:25get it done the detroit lions way because there's a very distinct difference between the level of
00:30aggressiveness that an organization like the rams has and a level of aggressiveness like the detroit
00:35lions have unfortunately it's turned into a topic of of really all the sports in detroit being
00:44pulled under one envelope i i just i don't think it's fair to trajan langdon to lump him in with
00:50this group the work and the trajectory of that organization since he took over that has been
00:56that has been something else um and if you really think about it i if there can be frustrations with
01:03moments in time but in the big picture the trajectory of the pistons is that was it's a pretty good
01:08place
01:08as far as the lions tigers and red wings you know look the red wings the the prospects that they
01:17have moved have refused to move have netted like zero excitement who who are we jazzed about there
01:26are guys that i could see maybe turning into players but at this point it doesn't look like
01:33they've hung like you could make a case that the tigers were smart to hang on to kevin mcgonigle
01:37or dylan dingler or troy melton red wings hit on cider and on raymond it looks like edvinson as well
01:47and it's the next group of guys that has to step up let's see what brancic knee guard can be
01:51because
01:52you know once he left the red wings and went back to the minors and and then played internationally
01:58he was like a star player is that what they're getting coming into the season is he going to be
02:02a much improved guy and maybe be a 40 point guy for next season i hope so that'd be a
02:08nice a nice
02:09step up emmett finney he was playing internationally with a national team so good for that um hopefully he
02:15takes a step forward that'd be nice but he wasn't one of the guys you're counting on guys you're
02:19counting on are nate danielson what's he going to be is actually standing pelican going to be something
02:25with this team you know are they're going to have to a carter bear um who just finally he just
02:31finished
02:32up his uh his junior career um but likely to start his next step with grit with grand rapids but
02:39those are the guys are going to have to do something and if and if you're steve eiserman you have
02:43to
02:43determine okay are they or am i going to have to move these guys to get real players and that's
02:50that's where they're at now because we just don't know you know max plant is another guy who they
02:55really like but again because the red wings are an organization that really likes to let players
03:01ripen before they pull them off the tree and then bring them up to the big level i'm not sure
03:06when
03:07these guys are going to be able to play in the nhl some of them some of them we expect
03:10right away
03:11others not so much 248-539-9797 feedback coming in waiting for the right move at the right time for
03:19the right price is how teams stay in purgatory and not grow the rams didn't trade for miles
03:24care because they needed an edge it's because he puts them over the top starting to believe you folks
03:30really don't understand this i get it i just think there's i think both things can be true that you
03:36can
03:36be patient and and and go with your own process and it can work out and it can also be
03:41the f them
03:41picks approach and do what the rams have done and look the rams won a super bowl five years ago
03:46doing
03:46that and this is another all-in type move then there's this one the guys the seahawks just did
03:53it they traded for a quarterback draft and develop mostly everybody else of their core it can be done
03:58both ways that's from jamie yes the seahawks just did it we we've talked about that last hour
04:02the year before philly didn't make a big move at the trade deadline won a super bowl no but they
04:07did they their big move was in the offseason their big move was in the offseason and you can
04:10like the lions big moves is they it's like the fact that they're drafting well and have to re-sign
04:17their own guys is being held against them when those guys are the ones that help them win
04:20right and and the expectation is yes that hutch will get better that that penny sewell left tackle
04:27will be they'll be better aligned to be better on the offensive line this year i think that's a
04:31reasonable expectation but what's the position that you think they need to target
04:36with if if you're going to go with the rams approach the f them picks approach i think it's
04:41what you got a target i think it's what you said either defensive tackle or i'd look at cornerback
04:45king what do you think that position is or what do you think the and listeners obviously 2485 39 97
04:5197
04:52because i don't think that that that was necessarily miles garrett and and going for it with the edge
04:56rusher the way that the lines have kind of addressed things this offseason what is it as it stands
05:01right now in this roster that would you would say okay they need to go make an f them picks
05:06move for
05:07this position it'd probably be cornerback defensive back i mean i'm hoping dj reed is the guy when he
05:13comes back healthy obviously we're not sure about terry and arnold and then after that you got
05:17mccrary you know like you rock your sin so i think you they need that one guy that can kind
05:22of shut down
05:23half the field take on the other team's number one receiver if you're asking me if i'm missing
05:30jack campbell in the you know with the the linebacking position safeties of course waiting
05:34on joseph and branch to get healthy but offensively i think they're they're pretty damn good so if i
05:38had to pick one position gator it'd be the defensive back and then the bold move would have been to
05:42go
05:42get like a sauce gardener you know i'm not saying like i wasn't screaming like oh why did you let
05:47sauce
05:47gardener go or you know he was available but that's i think the type of move that fans are yearning
05:53for
05:53you know and then and i know you guys always say like for example the michael porter thing he didn't
05:58get
05:58traded so we're like well he didn't get traded so that doesn't mean changing lane and he didn't do
06:02a bad job for the last like two years we're basically told miles garrett max crosby we're not
06:08getting traded both guys got traded in the last four months which means some i don't think
06:14untouchable players really exist like they used to i think sometimes and i'm not saying that
06:17michael porter jr was available but i think guys that we think that are unobtainable they can be
06:24they can be gotten you know what i mean like you just have to maybe force the issue or whatever
06:28and and the one thing the rams had right is you have to have that player that the other team
06:34covets
06:34sure and in the case of the pistons if that if if they didn't trade for michael porter jr because
06:40another team coveted ron holland and they didn't want to make that move here's an example of a report
06:46that got out there where you overvalue your own guy and you don't pull the trigger and it burns you
06:52wasn't the report that edvedson had to go the other direction to get quinn hughes yes that was
06:58part of it and i don't know what else the accuracy of that but if that's the case they wanted
07:03quinn
07:04hughes to sign an extension yes if that's the case i think that was a mistake okay but that's a
07:10name
07:10that's one of the report a report got out there that we could perhaps have an idea of why our
07:15gm said
07:16no and i think that's a mistake and that's why i'm probably more disappointed in eisenman than anybody
07:21else is now that again we're trusting that reporting but in in the case of michael porter
07:28jr if they wanted to cut into the core i could kind of i can understand why they want to
07:33do that
07:33but uh with the red wings they might have the most valuable commodity of of teams they're looking to
07:42trade this offseason they have goaltending they've got now it's unproven because it's my because the
07:48guys that are playing in grand rapids but they have three goaltenders prospect goaltenders you got
07:55kosa and postava who both played at uh at grand rapids this year both played very well and then they
08:01got
08:01trey augustine from michigan state that's three i know and i i hope that they are as coveted i feel
08:09like goaltenders are lottery tickets and cash in yeah uh come on guys eventually you guys have to see
08:17that brad's way does and will not work they've been going backwards for three seasons and will
08:23decline again this season six and eleven is where i have them brad's way is not a championship they
08:31sold out season tickets and have a waiting list that's his win um i'll take the over on the six
08:36yeah let's go six and a half whoever you are case of bush light apple is what i want i'll
08:42take over
08:42six and a half wins i would ask this this uh texter why do you think it is that the
08:50lines didn't
08:51advance in the playoffs two years ago and why is it the washington loss yeah and why didn't they
08:57make the playoffs this past season i mean if you're not going to look at the injury issue
09:04then i think you're a fool well whether you are you aren't it it's i mean it's massive that's why
09:10i mean you can factually say they've regressed the last couple of years or the last three years
09:16they peaked at the nfc championship game the next year they win the division but lose
09:20in the divisional round and then the next year they don't even make the playoffs that's all factual
09:25but why did they get to the point where they lose that game against washington their team was
09:29devastated by injuries and then yes jared goff had a terrible game the next year why did they not
09:35make the playoffs last season devastated by injuries again it happens to teams by the way it happens to
09:40all teams dj sent a tweet said i didn't have time to mention you a thousand percent defensive tackle
09:46is more of a trade need than edge hardest pressure to defend is up the middle not edge well dj
09:51dj and
09:52i love the uh building from the trenches yeah 248-539-9797 we'll get to more of your phone calls
