Short filmTranscript
00:02This is Police Interceptors, and you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:14Ace Pursuit drivers, with air support, and a crack dog unit.
00:28They bring down the bad guys, keep the streets safe, and battle 24-7 in the war on crime.
00:45Crash, crash.
00:47Oh, they're blown out!
00:49Here's what it is, isn't it? We find them, we lock them up.
00:54Six-fired just waiting to stop.
00:56Coming up.
00:57He can't pass the car.
01:00Park run in size nines.
01:02He's a blue jumper, I'm a stupid air car.
01:05Extreme traffic direction.
01:07What on earth are you doing? You're driving the wrong way off a dual carriageway!
01:12And...
01:13That thing is absolutely the rapid.
01:17A high-speed pursuit is high-stakes child's play.
01:20How old are you?
01:22Thirteen, I was only going for a drug.
01:34Each time the interceptors roll out, they lay their lives on the line.
01:39Come on!
01:40High-speed pursuits.
01:43Aggressive bad guys.
01:45They got me!
01:47Boots!
01:47Midnight assault courses.
01:52They're all in a day's work.
01:55You need Bottle to wear the uniform.
01:59Get out of the carriage ride!
02:01And these guys have it by the crate.
02:04Stay here, get out of the ride!
02:08A job can be quite, at times, risky.
02:12Inherently, it is quite dangerous.
02:14You sort of don't think about it in terms of the what-could, the what-if.
02:19You deal with it, you suck up that risk and take it on.
02:22The main thing, as long as I get to go home at the end of the day, I'm happy.
02:36A busy dual carriageway is a dangerous place at the best of times.
02:40But after an accident at night, it becomes even more so.
02:47We've had a call from members of the public that there's a car that's going to a hedge off the
02:53A43 between Toaster and Northampton.
02:57Scott and Michael are southbound.
03:00There it is.
03:02Is that it?
03:03The trouble is, the incident took place on the northbound carriageway.
03:07We've just passed the location where it is.
03:10There's an Atlas with them at the moment.
03:16An elite driver with 382 horses stabled in his Beamer, Scott's galloping to find a place to turn.
03:24And doing north of a ton on a major freight road means he needs to stay sharp for lorries pulling
03:31out.
03:32But he reaches the turn in one piece.
03:37Thank you very much.
03:41Open the house.
03:42Hello.
03:44Hello.
03:48Paramedics and interceptor Sandra have the accident seen in hand.
03:51And northbound traffic has been stopped two miles back.
03:56But what the cops don't know
03:59is things are about to take a far more dangerous turn on the opposite carriageway.
04:08You're riding on a 44-tonne lorry.
04:11Its onboard camera points down the rear doors to the road beneath.
04:17At a steady 50, it drives over arrows that point direction of traffic.
04:26Suddenly, the lorry slows down and worryingly crosses a no-entry sign.
04:32Direction of traffic arrows now point the other way.
04:38The 44-tonne is accelerating into oncoming traffic.
04:45That traffic includes a highway's vehicle filming from its rear window.
04:52Where a trucker, unaware of the road lorry hurtling towards him, pulls out to overtake.
05:01Just as the 44-tonne screams past in the wrong direction.
05:07Somehow, the driver got past and pulled out of the way in two seconds.
05:11It's a miracle no-one's been killed.
05:16While the lorry motors onto disaster, highways send out the SOS.
05:23And at the scene of the earlier accident, cops get the call.
05:28Driving a long way up a dual carriageway!
05:31On instinct, Scott leaps the central res.
05:34Watch your traffic! Watch your traffic!
05:36And runs onto the road lorry's carriageway.
05:39It's coming up towards us the wrong way.
05:56While dealing with a crash on the A43, interceptors have had a devastating call.
06:02Driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway!
06:04A 44-tonne lorry's driving the wrong way down the opposite carriageway.
06:10It's coming up towards us the wrong way.
06:13And Scott has stepped straight into its path.
06:16What on earth are you doing?
06:19What on earth are you doing?
06:21You're driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway!
06:24Yeah, yeah, so you can go across the road, you don't come up here the wrong way!
06:28The driver says he was forced into it because of the accident closure.
06:33At what point have you ever been able to drive the wrong way up a dual carriageway?
06:39How many people have you gone past?
06:41You could have killed any of them!
06:45You could have killed any one of those drivers coming down there!
06:49Everyone else has managed it on that closure!
06:52Everyone else except you!
06:54He's still arguing he had no choice.
06:57Turn your cab off! Turn it off!
06:59I thought it was...
07:03Right, jump out!
07:04OK.
07:05I was just thinking it was like a...
07:08No, no, no, no!
07:09You know it's a dual carriageway, you can see it's a dual carriageway!
07:13At what point, at what point do you come up the wrong way up a dual carriageway?
07:18Scott's not the only apoplectic interceptor.
07:21Sandra takes up the baton.
07:22And when you see vehicles coming in the opposite direction to you, clearly on the opposite side of the carriageway...
07:27No, no, don't talk over me, it's rude!
07:29I'm not finished!
07:30I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
07:31You see vehicles coming the other way and you don't think to stop?
07:35When I saw the vehicle, I was just confused!
07:37Because you've committed a serious moving traffic offence, I require you to provide me a specimen of breath.
07:42He hasn't had a drink.
07:43That's zero. Stick to that for me.
07:45Nor any drugs. But he won't escape serious driving charges.
07:50You're really lucky that we're not in a serious injury or a fatal at the moment.
07:53You'll head on on a dual carriageway on the wrong side of the carriageway.
07:58Not 15 minutes ago, Scott and Michael were flying along this very stretch of road at over a hundred.
08:06The idea of meeting a 44-tonne lorry coming the other way doesn't bear thinking about.
08:13You can understand why I was so angry.
08:16Because you could have killed any one of them.
08:18You're under arrest on suspicion of dangerous driving, OK?
08:21We've got an officer that's able to drive this and we'll try and get it turned round.
08:25Much like this guy is destined to be, Michael is an ex-lorry driver.
08:30But we're going to move the truck, so we've got to get off the dual carriageway.
08:34With oncoming traffic held in a rolling roadblock, HGV Michael's ready to roll back the years.
08:42Let's try it.
08:45Or is he?
08:46Every truck's different. I'm just looking for the bloody gearing on this one because this is automatic.
08:54So...
08:54In your own time, Michael.
08:59Ah, you've still got it.
09:05The trucker who took the wrong carriageway pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
09:09He lost his licence for a year, was ordered to do 150 hours unpaid work and pay £199 in costs
09:18and charges.
09:19It could have been much worse if it wasn't for the bravery of the interceptors.
09:25It's pretty terrifying doing that as a 44-ton vehicle is driving towards you.
09:30Thankfully, we're not having to knock on someone's door tonight to tell them their loved one's not coming home because
09:35someone's driven the wrong way down the carriageway.
09:48You can't say you couldn't see us because we were in front of you at one point with the blue
09:51lights on.
09:51Yeah, yeah, hello there.
09:53So why did you drive around me?
09:55Interceptors deal with lawbreakers of all ages.
09:57From those old enough to know better...
09:59So you haven't got a driving licence at the minute because they've taken it off you?
10:04..to those who've yet to grow some common sense.
10:07How old are you?
10:09Sixteen.
10:10Sixteen.
10:11And more and more, the kids are very much not all right.
10:16I don't know if it's a boredom thing, social media trends on the phone, seeing the mates doing it, thinking
10:20it looks fun.
10:22Whether it's a lack of respect for the police and, you know, the justice system in general, I think, is
10:28probably a combination of all of them.
10:29But, yeah, it's a shame and it can be a bit frustrating as well.
10:40It's nearly 2am on a school night and most folk are in bed.
10:45It's stolen.
10:47Lucy and Bryn, on the other hand...
10:52..are responding to reports of a stolen car.
10:56Black Mini Cooper.
10:57It's hit the Bert Latimer out camera in the last five to ten minutes.
11:02Oh, hello.
11:04Speedy motor.
11:05The last thing Lucy needs is a driver pulling out and putting the dog van out of action.
11:11I thought I was going to be in then.
11:13Because the plan is to get as many units as possible to surround the stolen Mini.
11:19Delta 17, I've got BA 14.
11:22The time is running out.
11:24I'll give it a go, but I don't think we're going to get there before it gets to the motorway.
11:27Before it leaves North Hand's patch.
11:31The latest here is A14 Junction 1 West.
11:36So it's heading towards the motorway in the border.
11:39Lucy's dog van isn't built for speed like, say, an armed response vehicle.
11:46But she's still motoring at a cool 120 miles an hour.
11:52That thing is absolutely rapid.
11:55I'm doing like 120 and it's just like...
11:59It's crazy.
12:01Crazy Mark II coming through.
12:06With speed demons ahead of her, Lucy's last to the rendezvous point.
12:09Where the team plots up for further intel on the Mini.
12:17There's a possibility this car's coming back towards us.
12:20It seems to have potentially turned round and we're just going to kind of wait by the border.
12:25See if it comes back.
12:27Which is exactly what's happened.
12:29In fact, the Mini has pulled up in a garage just around the corner from the waiting pack.
12:35Can you ask them to move forward, please? Only a short distance.
12:39The North Hand's convoy creeps towards the stationary stolen car.
12:45Can I suggest somebody looks for a thing inside.
12:48Going down towards Airplane Island.
12:51The garage is just ahead of them.
12:53Fox 109, parked up in the garage.
12:58But the Mini's not parked up anymore.
13:02It's heading straight for them.
13:04That's it.
13:08Three point turn a go-go.
13:13Unsurprisingly, first out of the traps is an unmarked ARV.
13:17Which is off like a shot.
13:21Catching up is no mean feat.
13:23But after a sprint along the dual carriageway, they have two cars in the stick.
13:30Not enough to box in the Mini, but then they get a stroke of luck.
13:37An innocent Mini driver comes the other way and this pursuit is over.
13:49The cops are in no mood to mess about.
13:52To the floor now! To the floor!
13:55But as they pull out the passenger and get the cuffs on the driver...
14:01They're in for a shock.
14:03It's a couple of kids.
14:05It's alright. I'm going to pull you up onto your bum.
14:09Yeah?
14:10What happened?
14:10How old are you?
14:12Thirteen. I was only going for a drive. What happened?
14:14Alright, sit up.
14:15The 15-year-old driver seems distraught.
14:18His junior partner, on the other hand...
14:21I was going for a drive.
14:23...couldn't be calmer.
14:24Is that a gun?
14:26It is a gun, yes.
14:29It's not a water pistol.
14:30And this isn't a game.
14:33Jimmy?
14:35Class B.
14:36Sorry?
14:36Class B.
14:38Cannabis hidden in a blister pack.
14:41Yeah, it's bottom left.
14:44You're also under arrest for possession of...
14:47...class B controlled drug, which is cannabis, alright?
14:52Say again?
14:53Me?
14:54Yeah, you. That's what he said.
14:57Class A?
14:58Class B.
14:59Keep up, son.
15:00I'm going to kill someone tonight.
15:02How old are you, lad?
15:04Thirteen.
15:04Thirteen?
15:05Yeah.
15:05I was going to open one for five hours.
15:08I was doing my paper round at thirteen hours.
15:09I had three paper rounds in the morning.
15:12No further action was taken regarding possession of cannabis or car theft, after the owner of the Mini chose not
15:19to press charges.
15:20But the fifteen-year-old driver pleaded guilty to failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without a licence or
15:27insurance.
15:29He was disqualified for a year, given an electronic tag and required to attend rehab appointments.
15:46It's a quiet day in Wellingborough.
15:50But Max is picking up a suspicious sound.
15:55There seems to be an invisible scooter on this estate.
16:03Alleyway, nine o'clock.
16:07We've got a scooter, a windmill, close, going onto the Kingsway, two up.
16:15Max moves to cut the disappearing scooter off.
16:18But before he gets eyes on, it's all changed.
16:22There's a one-series beamer near KFC that might be cloned.
16:27OK, so it's done a reset.
16:29I'll check KFC.
16:35I'll check KFC.
16:38I'll check KFC.
16:41I'll check KFC.
16:45I've got it.
16:46Oh, no, I've got it.
16:48Good for him, you've got it.
16:53Er, yeah, 6-5 is failing to stop.
16:56Game on.
17:05Shoot my nose on the air, please.
17:09Morning, vehicle failing to stop.
17:12Advanced T-pack driver, unmarked, advanced vehicle.
17:18As well as a tasty driver, Maximus is a trained drone pilot.
17:23And he needs to fly today to keep up with the 1 Series.
17:29Potential cloud.
17:31Over Donington Road, jumping towards the town of Wellingborough.
17:34Wellying it into Wellingborough, the target's weaving like a wicker basket.
17:43Er, another left onto Folly Road.
17:47Right, right, right, Dalkeith Road.
17:50The plan is to call in other units to box the Beamer in.
17:56And not far away...
18:01...Jingle and Lizzie change course to intercept the runaway Beamer.
18:05I'm making tea, mate.
18:08While Max directs them in from the lead car.
18:12Er, right, right, right onto Winslow Road.
18:15Speed, 5-0. It's currently medium risk.
18:18Er, I'll be your pursuit commander.
18:20The third tactical option will be, um, sting, reduce the capability of the vehicle,
18:24followed by motor vehicle box.
18:27They need to box the driver in, pronto.
18:30He's doing serious speeds in a 30 limit.
18:34Er, speed, 7-0. I'm eating risk. Approaching the junction with...
18:39...Jubilee Crescent. Er, it's a left, left, left.
18:44Thankfully, his current course is bringing the runaway ever closer to reinforcements.
18:49I'm just coming back here.
18:50It's gonna be coming up here, mate.
18:52And Jingle and Lizzie join the party just behind the unmarked.
19:00Come on!
19:02There are the kids there at the moment.
19:04Help!
19:05In front of them, Max has his work cut out, driving and commentating.
19:09Er, do you want me to take the car there?
19:12Yes, please, Lizzie.
19:14The lead is 4-0.
19:17But, with the newcomers taking over comms, the lead car's free to concentrate on keeping up.
19:23Sorry, mate. The GP Crescent.
19:26It's speed, 3-5. Still low risk.
19:31And it looks like they'll have to keep up on foot.
19:35Now, like the D-Camp.
19:38D-Camp, that's the path.
19:40The driver's down an alley.
19:42His car's driving itself.
19:47As the runaway car clears the alley, its blue hooded drivers reveal running like the wind.
19:59The bad guys got trainers and a head start.
20:02The good guys are weighed down by seven kilos of kit.
20:06Place your bets.
20:21Uh, yeah, 6-5, just wanted to stop.
20:25Interceptors are after the driver of a fleeing BMW.
20:29Come on!
20:31Who's bailed out on an estate.
20:33He has left the park.
20:35Leaving his beamer to drive itself.
20:40Now it's a foot race with three interceptors in stab vests.
20:43Chasing a young bloke in trainers.
20:46Jeans, blue jumper.
20:49Stupid haircut.
20:50The runner's criminal crop hasn't slowed him up, though.
20:54He's soon out of sight.
20:57And out of reach.
21:00They've lost him.
21:02And Jingle's soon regretting yesterday's gym work.
21:06I did legs yesterday.
21:09Coming down the hill, I didn't know which was going to collapse first.
21:14There are plenty of ways out of the area.
21:16And even with Lucy and police dog Bryn on the case,
21:21this is likely a total loss.
21:25I thought he was slowing down and I thought I was going to catch up with him,
21:28but I'm wearing all this kit.
21:31And, um, he's in the standard criminal uniform of tracksuits.
21:36Tracksuits and hoodie.
21:38He'll come again, but at least we've stopped the pursuit.
21:41At least the car's secure and doesn't put anyone else at risk.
21:45The dog unit's drawn a blank.
21:47Much to the amusement of local comic relief.
21:50Look at all TT and...
21:52Hey!
21:54Nice moves.
21:56You should be on TV, mate.
21:57Hey, hey!
21:58Don't get me, guys!
22:00I'm glad you're dealing with the car.
22:02Wow.
22:05And that's the kind of people we deal with on a regular basis.
22:08But just when it's looking like the cops will have to content themselves
22:11with taking a dodgy motor off the road...
22:14Roger, thank you.
22:16There's a bit of a touch inside it.
22:19Somebody's left their phone in the car, unfortunately for him.
22:23So I think they've found a name based on the phone that's in the car.
22:29Despite the evidence left behind, the suspected driver was never located
22:34and no further action was taken.
22:42Yeah, it's just come past.
22:44Bikers can be the bane of a traffic cop's existence.
22:52They slip through the slimmest escape routes...
22:55We've gone left, left, left. He won't be going through his bollards.
22:59I cannot continue from here.
23:01...and act like no-one can touch them.
23:04Up on the back wheel, off the side of the road.
23:07But bad guys who think cops won't make contact with their two-wheelers...
23:12...could be in for a shock.
23:20If you ram a motorbike, you stand a good chance of injuring the rider.
23:26But that would be and has been authorised if the situation allows it.
23:42It's the midnight hour, and a marked Beamer's going like a bat out of hell.
23:48With Harrison Beverley at the wheel and Rich Gibson riding shotgun.
23:53Where's where?
23:54Rothwell.
23:56Motorbike found a stop.
23:58A motorbike just made off from a unit near Rothwell.
24:02So I'll just go towards Rothwell and see if we can catch him up.
24:06And Harrison's engaged the warp drive to get there on the hurry-up.
24:17A few miles away in an unmarked Volvo...
24:23Tony and Lloyd have the rogue bike in their sights.
24:31And it'll take more than a humpback bridge to shake them off.
24:39They need to tread carefully though.
24:42Most motorbike deaths happen on rural roads.
24:45And by cutting corners like this, he's asking to prove that statistic.
24:53Tony's a TPAC-trained advanced pursuit driver at the wheel of a 140mph cop car.
25:00The bikes are 125.
25:04With L plates.
25:06We'll see if we still continue to use the deviations to meet 5.4 and 6.0, right?
25:11It might not outrun them, but they need a safe way to stop it.
25:15And for that, they need numbers.
25:17OK, right, so you get tested for, um, being followed by a multi-car box.
25:21We're getting a TPAC vehicle with us.
25:23It's to do with 14. I'll just turn around and try and catch me the other way.
25:27Tactical pursuit and containment calls for multiple cars.
25:31So Harrison changes course, aiming to intercept from a different direction.
25:41We're going to hopefully get to the end of Glendon Road by the, uh, uh, NAB.
25:45It's a white-knuckle ride through the sticks in full rally car mode.
25:57Tight bends, isn't it?
25:58Yeah, no, no, it's road.
26:01Well, they need the speed to get there before the motorcyclist comes a cropper.
26:13And at the business end of the pursuit,
26:15the biker is leading Tony and Lloyd into a built-up area.
26:19But that's the option here.
26:21Try and get anything.
26:21We, uh, might get away from the bike procedure speed.
26:28Uh-oh.
26:29The runaway hangs a sudden right.
26:31The street.
26:34Right, right.
26:34He might hope to lose the bulky Volvo in streets made narrow by parked cars.
26:39Right, right.
26:43Right, right.
26:44Right, right.
26:44Right, right.
26:46Right, right.
26:48Right, right.
26:49Right, right.
26:49Right.
26:49They need a car ahead of him.
26:51So Lloyd guides Rich and Harrison in.
26:54That sounds like a good plan.
26:57We're on the Glendon Road now.
26:59I'm going to guess it's these lights here.
27:01But before they reach the scene...
27:05Up ahead, Tony seizes a chance to get in front of the bike.
27:09The rider breaks.
27:14And with a tiny tactical touch from Tony, he's stopped.
27:22Rich and Harrison roll in.
27:23There you go.
27:24Go on this side, mate.
27:26Oh, no, actually, just blocking the road, so let's do that, it's fine.
27:29To find Tony astride the runaway bike.
27:36Hello, chap.
27:36This is killer.
27:38This is killer.
27:38And Lloyd, with its rider, who's unharmed and on his derriere.
27:42Give me a minute, we'll get you onto your feet, OK?
27:43Yeah.
27:45Do you have anything like ADHD or anything like that?
27:47No.
27:47No?
27:49No?
27:49So, are you just coming down there for us, then?
27:51I can breathe.
27:52It's very long.
27:53Yeah, OK.
27:54As long as you're chilling out and starting to calm down, chap, then everything will be
27:57all right, won't it?
27:58Yeah.
28:00Can you stay calm for us?
28:01No, no, no, I'm calm.
28:02Good stuff.
28:03Do you have a licence, chap?
28:04Yeah.
28:06You do?
28:07Yeah.
28:08What are you doing, then?
28:09No insurance.
28:09No insurance?
28:12No.
28:13That was all over no insurance?
28:15Yeah, and I've had a shit in the lake.
28:16OK.
28:18Well, it's about to get worse.
28:20Remember the rest of the fang stop, dangerous drive?
28:23Yeah.
28:23No insurance at the minute.
28:25Yeah.
28:25Have you got any, um, injuries from falling off the bike?
28:29No.
28:29No?
28:31Considering you're just wearing trackies, you've done all right, then, haven't you?
28:34I'm not sure he's in the mood to celebrate.
28:37Can we help you up?
28:38Yeah.
28:39I know.
28:42There we go.
28:43There we go.
28:44There we go.
28:46You've got some chap on you, it's going to hurt yourself and my colleagues.
28:48I don't have any drugs on you yet.
28:49You've got a little bit of a tiny cut on your elbow, OK?
28:53Yeah.
28:53You're an idiot, you really are.
28:54Oh no.
28:58Just fags?
28:59Yeah.
29:00They're not legal yet, are they?
29:03They're not.
29:05Odd.
29:06But I'll wager what's in that bag is.
29:11I've been here further and dressed since the possession of Class A.
29:14I'm going to put you in the van, all right?
29:15It's more comfortable for you.
29:19Cheers, Gosley.
29:20Have you got anything else on you?
29:22No.
29:22No.
29:23Better step up there for us, thank you.
29:25Just try to sit down in there for us.
29:31Cheers, mate, thank you.
29:34The rider freed from his steed by Tony's tactical contact pleading guilty to failing to stop, dangerous
29:41driving, driving without insurance and possession of cocaine.
29:45The court gave him a 24-week suspended sentence, 80 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month ban.
29:53He was also required to pay £239 in costs and charges.
30:09They say one bad apple can spoil the barrel.
30:13Speed eight zero.
30:15But a few dodgy bikers...
30:17Yeah, we're off-road, off-road through bollards.
30:20..shouldn't give the rest a bad name.
30:24Thousands ride on the right side of the law every day.
30:31Took the keys out of the vehicle, saw him in the driving seat.
30:34And a few miles from Keith and Michael, some of them have taken the law into their own hands.
30:40Where the driver's fallen asleep at the wheel.
30:43And he's been drifting backwards into another vehicle.
30:47So some motorcyclists have stopped and removed the keys from the car.
30:51Both advanced motorcyclists themselves, Keith and Michael are racing to reach kindred spirits,
30:57who've covered a suspected drink driver.
30:59A driver who's been on the cops' radar all afternoon.
31:05A driver that was initially put up by highways to say that he's a drink driver.
31:11But then the vehicle...
31:13..fought to hit any of the cameras, so we had no idea where it had gone.
31:16They do now.
31:17And with Keith at the wheel, they're closing in fast.
31:22Sold me the island there, boys. Thank you.
31:26Keith says he joined the force to drive fast cars with blue lights and sirens blazing.
31:35Nice overtake. I enjoyed that one.
31:38Living your best life, Keith.
31:40Cars doing 60 look like they're in reverse, as Keith makes a supercharged brake for the border.
31:47Couldn't have been much further away, could it, really?
31:49No. It's pretty much the end of our jurisdiction.
31:53That's a fancy word for patch.
31:55Just before the roundabout on the left-hand side, it says.
31:58And they've reached the edge of theirs.
32:00There he is.
32:02Oh, that's a police car with him already.
32:03No.
32:05They'll have to share the collar with the other units, as well as the have-a-go heroes on two
32:09wheels.
32:13Hiya.
32:15Have you got a breath box?
32:17I have. Hang on.
32:18Michael's going to do the honours and breathalise the driver, who's in the back of a traffic car.
32:23Hiya.
32:24Hiya, Michael.
32:24Right, so what we need to do is take a nice deep breath in.
32:27I go...
32:27Then put your lips on the tube and go...
32:30Nice and slowly, all right?
32:31So a nice deep breath in.
32:32Put your lips on the tube.
32:33So breathe in.
32:35No, no.
32:36Look at me.
32:37Breathe in, go...
32:39Hold it and blow, right?
32:41So ready?
32:42Blow in the tube.
32:42Put your lips on the tube and blow.
32:45No.
32:46You're not going to do that, are you?
32:47Michael has the patience of a saint.
32:49So, look at me.
32:51Look at what I do.
32:51I go...
32:54Which is pretty apt.
32:55Breathe in and blow.
32:57Keep going, keep going.
32:58No, no, no, no, no.
32:59Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
33:01Because Saint Michael, amongst other things, is the patron saint of coppers.
33:05It's not like blowing up a balloon like that.
33:08You've got to do constant breath.
33:10If you fail this, you're going to be arrested for trying to provide.
33:14Okay?
33:15So, it's in your best interest to give us a sample.
33:19Blow.
33:20You're not blowing.
33:21You're not blowing.
33:24You're still not blowing.
33:26You're not blowing.
33:27You're not even blowing.
33:28You're not.
33:28You're not even trying.
33:30You're not.
33:32As the bikers who may have saved the driver's life get back on the road...
33:39One more go.
33:41Saint Michael soldiers on.
33:42Blow.
33:43Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.
33:46Stop.
33:47Lovely.
33:47Well played.
33:49Well done.
33:51Oh.
33:53You're nicked.
33:55135.
33:5635.
33:57The legal limit is 35.
34:00Sorry.
34:00100.
34:01135.
34:02So, you are now under arrest for providing a positive sample of breath.
34:07Yes I am.
34:07You are.
34:08You're blowing 135?
34:09Yeah.
34:09Positive breath death.
34:11135.
34:13So, it's nearly four times.
34:14So, yeah.
34:15Blowing 135 is nearly four times the legal limit.
34:18Mad.
34:19Absolutely mad.
34:21I have to go to work.
34:22Well, you won't be going to work now, will you?
34:24You'd be going straight to custody.
34:25That's where you're going.
34:26Right.
34:26We'll follow you back then.
34:28It's a convoy to custody with the 135 microgram man.
34:34I don't think I've had anything like that here.
34:37But when I was down in the Met, me and a colleague had somebody blow 183.
34:42Yeah, I had 190 in the Met.
34:44So, yeah.
34:44But 135 is...
34:46I know somebody's had 200 and something here.
34:48Really?
34:49Yeah.
34:50You should be dead, really.
34:51Yeah.
34:52Yeah, yeah.
34:53But no, 135 is higher.
34:55That's the highest I've heard around here so far.
35:00Back at the Nick, Michael and Keith check their drink driver in with the custody sergeant.
35:06I am going to authorise your detention here at the police station.
35:09OK?
35:09That's so we can complete an evidential breath test with you.
35:13Not sure this is a thumbs up vibe, fella.
35:16You're about to play for your licence on the Intoxaliser.
35:22I don't...
35:23Give me an idea.
35:24Yeah.
35:24Why?
35:25Because you're drunk.
35:27WHISTLE BLOWS
35:28WHISTLE BLOWS
35:29Which makes a simple search...
35:31You take your belt off for me?
35:33...far harder than it needs to be.
35:35No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
35:37All your trousers, just your belt.
35:38No, that's my belt.
35:39What?
35:40Let go.
35:40Let go.
35:43Come on.
35:44Let go.
35:45Let go.
35:45Getting messages across is nigh on impossible.
35:48All right?
35:49All right.
35:50Let me do it.
35:51Sorry?
35:52Let me do it.
35:53Let you go?
35:53Yes.
35:54Why would we let you go?
35:55And the results of two blows on the evidential breath test machine...
35:59Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going.
36:02...a mere formality.
36:03Stop.
36:041-3-7-1-4-0.
36:07We'll go with the lowest number.
36:08All right.
36:09Legal limit's 35.
36:12His reading is actually going up and he's booked to stay at the North Hans Hilton.
36:21The driver, stopped by the biker boys, was convicted of drink driving.
36:27He got a 12-week suspended sentence, 150 hours of unpaid work and a 32-month ban.
36:34He was also ordered to pay costs and charges of £239.
36:40But at four times the legal limit, things could have been a whole lot worse.
36:48It's good to get him off the road.
36:49Your driving is impaired by any amount of alcohol in the system.
36:53But to have that amount in your system, beyond belief.
36:59Coming up...
37:00Talking about reinforcement.
37:01Table manners are tricky in handcuffs.
37:03Oh, shit, sorry.
37:04I've got a bit of food on your top.
37:18As you can see on his registration plate, he's just got black sticky tape on it.
37:24The world of fiction may be full of criminal masterminds.
37:27So he's doctored the plate, obviously, from a 1-1 to a 1-6.
37:32Well, a dodgy 1-6.
37:35But genuine lawbreakers are generally more witless than genius.
37:40Right, you're disqualified, aren't you?
37:41I've been driving.
37:42Everyone has just watched his switch seats.
37:44And it's not hard to tell when the brains of Britain are peddling porky pies.
37:49He's maintained that he's driving, but he's also drunk as well.
37:52So we might end up having two in for this.
37:56If you give people enough rope, they normally hang themselves.
38:00So if you think that someone's lying to you, you just let them carry on.
38:04And then the crack starts with hearing their stories.
38:07People generally aren't that bright, are they?
38:21Sorry, I got distracted by my colleagues in that vehicle.
38:24It's Laugh A Minute on Harrison and Paul's afternoon shift.
38:28But things are about to turn serious.
38:33It's a blue Hyundai.
38:36There was a car that did a shoplifting in a retail park.
38:41And it's gone straight from one retail park to another retail park.
38:44So the ops channels just asked us to go and find the car
38:48and make sure it's not doing another theft.
38:52Potential shoplifters are working their way around local retail parks
38:56in a blue Hyundai.
38:586-1, that's copy, thank you.
38:59We're just up to 10-6 in the retail park.
39:02Straight through this side.
39:04Is that it there?
39:06It's coming out, coming out here.
39:08Yeah.
39:09Yeah, that's it.
39:10Tomo, that's it there, mate.
39:14PC Clooney, nicknamed George, naturally,
39:17is a master at getting into the minds of his prey.
39:21She's going to McDonald's.
39:24But with multiple cars tailing the Hyundai...
39:28We're just joining you, mate. It'll be 30 seconds.
39:30There'll be no filly of fish for the moment.
39:35Tomo, reinforce it.
39:42There are three people in the car.
39:44Hello, are you all right?
39:46Hi.
39:47All right.
39:47The reason for search is that this vehicle's been identified as being involved in theft from shops.
39:51What?
39:52Yeah.
39:53And the rear passenger is a woman of mystery.
39:55Right.
39:56Where's your ID?
39:58I haven't got an ID.
39:58Oh, you haven't got an ID.
39:59Right.
40:00What's in the boot?
40:01Nothing's in the boot.
40:02Nothing?
40:03No.
40:03OK.
40:03I've got some perfumes and that.
40:05Right.
40:05I'm just going to hold your arm.
40:08And they've got perfumes for Christmas presents that I didn't want.
40:11There's nothing stolen in there.
40:12All right.
40:13Well, in that case, you won't be arrested.
40:15I'm detaining you for a search at the moment.
40:18What are you actually looking for?
40:19The stolen items.
40:20You're getting searched as well.
40:22Why?
40:23Because there's information that stuff was stolen from a shop in the last half an hour, hour.
40:29The cops have a list of nicked goods, none of which are in the boot.
40:34There's nothing to suggest any of you are getting arrested at this point, is there?
40:38For what?
40:39Getting arrested for what?
40:40Right.
40:41Listen to what I'm saying.
40:42OK, I understand that.
40:43There's nothing at the moment to suggest you're getting arrested.
40:46We're looking for stuff involved in a theft from shop in the last hour.
40:50They're trying to identify stuff that's been rubbed from a theft or something.
40:55Do you want to do a body and body on this young lady?
40:58He's not allowed to.
40:59Is there a man in it?
41:00No, he's just checking your details.
41:02Oh.
41:03While his colleague checks your back seat.
41:06That's my dinner.
41:07Looks like you were wrong about Mackie D's, Paul.
41:12She's brought a Chinese takeaway with her.
41:15What's your first name for us?
41:17Huh?
41:17What's your first name, please?
41:18I'll, er...
41:19It's, er, 11th of July 2021.
41:21No, no, your first name.
41:22Oh, Kimberley.
41:23Kimberley.
41:23Er, George, Kimberley's wandered off to see the driver.
41:27Clooney.
41:28Clooney.
41:29Keep hold of her.
41:30Stay over here.
41:31Hi.
41:31Kimberley, stay over here.
41:34I'm getting her on all in the mud.
41:35Yeah, I'm getting her sliders, but you keep walking off.
41:37Wanted Warren.
41:38OK.
41:39And apparently, Kimberley also wandered off from the courts.
41:42She wanted Warren.
41:44Hershey?
41:45Yeah.
41:45Who's wanted Warren?
41:46You.
41:47For what?
41:47I'm just reading it.
41:48We'll get to it, unfortunately.
41:50You should know what you're wanted for.
41:52Are you having a laugh?
41:54I'm not having a laugh, no.
41:55Er, yeah.
41:56For what?
41:57You are showing us wanted for breach of court order and warrant,
42:01not back for bail, unfortunately.
42:03Unfortunately.
42:03What?
42:04You're not telling that to court?
42:05Er, I'm not sure exactly.
42:06Kimberley wanted for warrant.
42:08Kim's wanted.
42:10For what?
42:111650, your address and suspicion of...
42:12For what?
42:12You listen to what you're saying.
42:14For what?
42:15Listen to what you're saying.
42:16Let me say it.
42:17You want it for breach of a court order, which is a warrant.
42:19It's not back for bail, so you don't have to say anything.
42:21But I may have defence if you don't mention one question,
42:23so I'll make sure later on the court.
42:24She's wanted.
42:25OK.
42:27Kimberley claims she isn't wanted.
42:29In fact, Kimberley now claims she isn't Kimberley.
42:33Do you know what?
42:34I'll give my sister's name.
42:35My name's not even Kimberley.
42:36Er, Kimberley.
42:37My name's Mikaela.
42:39It would be a masterstroke if it wasn't the one problem.
42:42She's calling you Kim.
42:44You're going in.
42:45There you go.
42:47I'm just going to tell him my real name.
42:50Mikaela.
42:51Whatever you say, Mikaela.
42:54I'll give Kimberley's name.
42:55Oh, shit.
42:55Sorry.
42:56I've got a bit of food on your top.
42:58Hang on.
42:58While Clooney cleans Chow Main from his stab vest, the name game continues.
43:04I'll give Kimberley's name, but my name's Mikaela.
43:06Right, but she calls you Kim.
43:08Yeah, because I told her to say that, but I knew that I'd be wanted.
43:11You can go to the station and go on a fingerprint scanner then.
43:13OK.
43:14Not the best news for the artist formerly known as Kimberley.
43:17Can you get off of me, mate?
43:19I'm not running anywhere.
43:21I'm fat, innit?
43:21You're going to catch me if I run.
43:23OK.
43:23Jesus.
43:26Kimberley Mikaela is going to custody.
43:28But with no stolen goods in the car, the driver and male passenger are free to go.
43:33That's a bull warrant.
43:34Good luck, bab.
43:35Good luck.
43:36Don't forget your noodles, Kimberley.
43:38Mikaela, or whoever you are.
43:41The Chow Main?
43:43Yeah, the Chow Main, yeah.
43:44There's nothing in the vehicle of the list of stolen items.
43:48Unfortunately, the one in the rear of the vehicle, she's wanted on warrant.
43:52So, she's been arrested.
43:54She'll go to custody and be in court tomorrow.
43:57No further action was taken against the driver of the Hyundai or the male passenger.
44:02But the noodle lover, with an identity crisis, did indeed attend court.
44:08Kimberley, a prolific shoplifter, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a court order
44:12and two separate thefts.
44:15She was ordered to pay £362 in compensation and was sent down for 16 weeks at His Majesty's pleasure.
44:24A little cheeky little job.
44:33You got a boy first round from late June 7th!!
44:45You got a boy co-chock.
44:45You got his grey There it was a house, right?
44:46A little ниении.
44:47Good boy in hell, it's a great day!
44:49Good boy.
44:54You got a group of industry.
44:55I'm a kid.
44:56You know, you learnt me.
