00:00It's a very important day, Tyrone, because today is June 1st, and at 4 o'clock today,
00:04the June 1st designation for a lot of players in the NFL who you know are going to be traded
00:11can now be traded.
00:13This is all like cap ramifications and all that.
00:15Yep.
00:16But the number one guy on that list, and I promise we're going to get to the basketball,
00:20but this is happening right now.
00:22We're five hours away, and it's apparently heating up.
00:25A.J. Brown, we know this for sure, is not going to be an Eagle this year.
00:29Yes.
00:29That seems to be the accepted fact.
00:31100%.
00:31I believe it.
00:32I know you believe it.
00:33Everybody in Philadelphia believes it.
00:35Now, for the last six months, I think we've also believed that he was going to go to New England.
00:41Now, that got a little hanky because of the Brian, excuse me,
00:46Tanner Rossini, Mike Vrabel situation.
00:49Yep.
00:49I know the Patriots still going to go through with that trade,
00:52knowing full well that other teams are now going to accuse them of improprieties
00:58when it came to a meddling in the availability of a player under contract.
01:03So I would not be shocked if the NFL would prefer to see A.J. Brown wind up going somewhere
01:09else
01:09because of the Rossini Vrabel stuff.
01:11But here's what's interesting, and this is why sometimes it's a good lesson for great players.
01:18Be careful what you wish for.
01:19Be careful for what you manifest.
01:22Because right now, A.J. Brown is on a team that is good enough to win another Super Bowl.
01:28Yes.
01:29Matter of fact, they've been to a couple.
01:31He obviously has the one Super Bowl championship with them.
01:34And I would tell you right now that if I was going to randomly pick five NFC teams
01:38that have a legitimate shot today to go to the Super Bowl,
01:42I don't care who's making the list, the Eagles are one of those teams.
01:45And I feel very comfortable saying that.
01:48Yeah.
01:48I might say if I picked five teams in the entire NFL right now,
01:52the Eagles would still be on my list as a team with a legitimate shot
01:56of going to and winning a Super Bowl.
01:58So, A.J. Brown made himself a pain in the ass.
02:01A.J. Brown made it clear that there's no more life with him
02:05and Jalen Hurts on the same field or in the same locker room.
02:08Fair enough?
02:08That's just a fact.
02:09That's true.
02:10So, you go to New England, the thought process there is he reunites with Vrabel.
02:15You've got a team that just went to a Super Bowl.
02:17He can enjoy more success.
02:19But I don't think he's going to New England.
02:21Because there's another team, there are two of them actually,
02:24that made a big push to get him at the draft.
02:27And obviously, that didn't happen because of the salary cap ramifications.
02:32And one of those teams backed out at the time, the L.A. Rams.
02:35The Rams might very well be back in.
02:38Oh, yeah.
02:38Absolutely.
02:39And they're a win-now team, the Rams.
02:41But there is one team right now that is not win-now,
02:45but they've got a chip of their own in a great player, not just draft picks,
02:50that would entice the Eagles, I think, to make the trade to them
02:54as opposed to making the trade to New England,
02:57which, as I understood, was a draft pick-only trade, okay?
03:01Yep.
03:02The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock.
03:05And there's a lot of smoke right now that the Cleveland Browns
03:09have offered the Eagles Miles Garrett in return for A.J. Brown
03:16and multiple draft picks.
03:18So the only thing the Browns give up is their best defensive player,
03:23arguably the best defensive player in football,
03:26who redid his contract.
03:27And here's why it's got smoke.
03:29When Miles Garrett redid his contract,
03:32he actually made it easier for him to be traded, okay?
03:36You need to have $31 million of cap space available
03:41for this upcoming season to acquire the newly re-signed contract
03:46of Miles Garrett.
03:48So I did a little research.
03:51$31 million is the key number.
03:53Obviously, anything above that, your money good.
03:55The Eagles made a couple moves this offseason.
03:57Nothing of note that outside of Philadelphia you'd care much about,
04:01but they did make a couple moves,
04:03let a couple guys go, like Blankenship, right, and some other guys.
04:06Do you have any idea how much money, as we sit here today,
04:09the Eagles have available under their cap,
04:12knowing again that they need $31 million
04:16to acquire Miles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns for A.J. Brown?
04:21How much money do the Eagles have available?
04:23I'm going to say $33 million.
04:26No.
04:27All right.
04:27$31 million.
04:29Exactly, $31 million.
04:29To the number.
04:30Now, I'm at times a conspiracy theorist.
04:34Yeah.
04:35I also would say that Harry Roseman, for the last five years,
04:38has been the best general manager in football.
04:40I don't think anyone's going to push back in that at all.
04:42Those are the good ones, but Harry Roseman, I think, has been the best.
04:45Do you think it's a coinkidink that the Philadelphia Eagles have to the penny
04:50the exact amount of money they would need to acquire Miles Garrett
04:56after June 1st at 4 o'clock?
04:58It is not a coincidence.
04:59Of course it's not.
05:00And it's funny that since this segment started, I put a little text
05:04because I can text from this device somebody that works for NFL Network
05:07that will remain nameless.
05:08You can text from what device?
05:09Your phone?
05:10No, from my iPad.
05:12Oh, you already have the old AOL AIM?
05:14No.
05:14That thing?
05:15No, you have your text messages on there.
05:17No, I don't.
05:18Yeah, well, you can.
05:19And someone from NFL Network actually told me what the trade would be
05:24if the trade happens.
05:25And your framework is mostly right, but the Eagles, instead of adding more picks,
05:30would trade young edge rusher Nolan Smith Jr.
05:33I like Nolan Smith Jr.
05:35Right, but you're getting the best.
05:36He just got some trouble, right?
05:37No, no.
05:37Was he driving or something?
05:38Yes, he did get in trouble at all.
05:40But that's not why.
05:41The thing is, you don't want to give up all that draft capital.
05:44You trade a player who would start for the Browns in the short term,
05:48and right in his spot you get the best edge rusher.
05:51So it would be A.J. Brown with Nolan Smith Jr. to the Browns.
05:54The Browns would then send Miles Garrett to the Eagles with a conditional pick
05:59with that, and that would be the trade.
