00:00Welcome back. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has ordered the military to expand its control over Gaza to
00:0870%.
00:08Israel currently controls an estimated 64% of the strip following a two-year military offensive that has left much
00:17of the territory in ruins.
00:20Under an earlier US broker truce, Israeli forces were meant to withdraw to a set line of control.
00:25That line put Israel in control of some 53% of Gaza, with Hamas ruling the rest.
00:32But reports suggest Israeli troops have shifted the line deeper into Hamas-controlled territory.
00:38Netanyahu has repeatedly said Israel controls more than 60% of Gaza and now plans to continue to increase its
00:44control over the territory.
00:46Palestinians view Israel's widening seizure of Gaza as part of a strategy to permanently displace them.
00:53Netanyahu's directive comes as Israel escalates its attack in Gaza that it says targets senior Hamas leaders.
01:00On Tuesday, Israel killed Hamas' armed wing chief 10 days after killing his predecessor.
