A young man was allegedly assaulted by a security guard at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow on Wednesday after an argument reportedly broke out during ticket checking at Gate No. 2.

According to eyewitnesses, the man had visited the park with his wife and child after purchasing tickets. During the visit, an altercation allegedly erupted between the young man and a guard over ticket verification.

As the dispute escalated, the guard allegedly abused the man, dragged him to the ground by his collar, and assaulted him with his shoes. A video of the incident has now surfaced on social media and is rapidly going viral.

In the video, the man can be seen being dragged on the ground while his wife and child scream and cry nearby. Bystanders reportedly continued filming the incident, while no one intervened for a considerable time.

It has also been alleged that after the assault, the guards hurriedly sent the young man away in an e-rickshaw to prevent the situation from escalating further. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed so far.

LDA Removes Accused Guard

Following the viral video, the Lucknow Development Authority took cognizance of the matter and removed the accused guard from duty as a preliminary action.

Police Claim ‘Pre-Existing Dispute’ Between Couple

In a statement, the Uttar Pradesh Police said the viral video from Janeshwar Mishra Park, located under the Gomti Nagar Extension police station area, is currently under investigation.

Police stated that preliminary findings suggest the husband and wife had arrived at the park after an argument. During the dispute, the woman allegedly walked away, while the man — said to be under the influence of alcohol — lay down on the road. According to police, the guard attempted to remove him, and the video of that incident later went viral.

Officials said CCTV footage is being examined and statements are being collected from park authorities and on-duty staff. No formal complaint has been lodged at the local police station so far. Further action will be taken based on the investigation findings.
