00:00Ball game over. Astros win it 4-3. They continue on this great road trip after losing 2 out of
00:073 in Minneapolis.
00:08They have now won 5 of their last 6, including 2 out of 3 here in Arlington.
00:14There it is. As the Astros, or as we talked about it earlier this week, they are putting themselves in
00:22a space to do what it is they need to do.
00:30All right. And that is put themselves in a position where many of these guys that they want and need
00:41to get back, the Josh Haters, who could be coming back soon as he is in AAA, Sugar Land, Hunter
00:47Brown, obviously the big one, Altuve supposedly was taking swings.
00:53They went to that Jose Abreu place to potentially take some swings.
00:59FGC.
01:00He's from the Florida Penal League. He takes some swings there.
01:06So these guys may be getting back, but they needed to put themselves in a position where it mattered when
01:13they got back.
01:14And Clint yesterday, there are, I think, multiple stories and places you can go, but I mean, nothing more than
01:22Jordan Alvarez.
01:23This guy is insane, Clint. And I want to get to Skip Schumacher because, honest to God, I don't know
01:31who the Rangers owner is.
01:34I think Jerry Jones should come over and help too, but they should, he should be fined.
01:42He, he's, I'm not going to say the man should be fired his first year. He should be fined how
01:46he had, he, he allowed, he allowed Jordan Alvarez to beat them.
01:51But this guy, what's he got? Five home runs in the series. Two last night, including that one in the
01:58eighth inning that gave them a lead that they never, they never gave up.
02:02As he hit that ball, I mean, he hit two. I don't even know why Evan Carter's running backwards. He
02:06hit two that just, just drove out of the park.
02:09He hit another ball that became a single only because he hit it too hard and it bounced off the
02:14wall. And, and, and the right fielder, the right fielder is playing up against the wall any damn way.
02:19Cause he's afraid he was, that was in baseball, in baseball and Clint Tyler, you've watched it. Many of you
02:26watched it in baseball.
02:27It is hard to have the Vince Young moment, like Vince Young had against USC where it's like, damn, sorry.
02:35It's hard to have the Johnny Manziel moments where, uh, that's a great example. Much better. Sorry, Clint. It is
02:41hard to have the Cody, the Cody Dick moments where, uh, where you just get a guy that just takes
02:47over the game. It's a former Arkansas quarterback, guys. Casey, Casey. Damn it. Cody Dick's good too.
02:54I thought, I didn't know if that was the old Arkansas quarterback or if that was old boy that, that,
02:58uh, plays Grady. I didn't know where he was going with it. Not Grady. Casey, Dick. No, I mean, it's
03:03hard to have that in baseball, but he just took over, he just took over the game. Yeah. And he
03:08only hits. You can kiss my ass with the MVP as to play in the field. And he only hits.
03:13Like he just, it was, it was insane what he was able to do. Well, it just, I mean, I
03:18mean, he's just putting on a clinic, man, because it's not, it's a lot of these times you watch these
03:23guys.
03:23Guys that hit, you know, bombs or they always just, they're always barreling it up. And you just, you, you
03:29wonder like, boy, how can y'all, y'all just keep making mistakes to these guys? Like you just keep
03:33pitching in their wheelhouse. I mean, it is clear watching him. Right. That it's like, you mentioned the manager for
03:39the, for the Texans, for the, the, the Rangers. Um, the three Oh pitch that he hit out. The second
03:46one, I think it was to dead center. He was like, man, the, the plan was to not give him
03:52anything to hit.
03:53The plan was to, Hey, if you walk him, no big deal. He said, it was, it was a great
03:57pitch given the plan.
03:58He said, but, but, but, but, but I mean, and I'm, I'm, I'm paraphrasing. I mean, like it was a
04:03great pitch given what they were trying to do.
04:04He said, that guy went down there and got a pitch and somehow hit it out of the park at
04:08110 miles per hour, wherever the hell it was.
04:09Like it was the only, where I'm going with an opposing manager saying the only approach when this guy's hot
04:17and he's swinging it the way he's swinging it right now, Jordan Alvarez, the only approach with Jordan Alvarez is
04:22to stand up and have your pitcher, old school, put your catcher, put his hand out and intentionally walk him
04:28by throwing balls so far outside, off the plate that he can't get a barrel on.
04:32You don't even have to do that now. You can just walk.
04:33You can just walk him. I want him to stand up and hold that hand out.
04:36That last day that he had, Clint, he didn't even make it to the box. They had already sent his
04:41ass down.
04:42Yeah, the last time I saw that, he went out there and he was laughing with the first base coach.
04:46But, but yeah, like I don't, I just, the truth of the matter is, is like there's, there's no reason,
04:51especially in the second half of games where it's a close ball game, like there's no reason to even let
04:56him step into the box.
04:57Like literally just, just point your hand to first base and let him go.
05:00Cause the thought of like, yeah, we'll throw some pitches and see if we can get ahead of him.
05:04Maybe think, think, you know, maybe we can get him to chase something that's, that's as dangerous as it is
05:08with any, any hitter in baseball today.
05:12Yeah. Because first off for skip, you're a liar, skip. That ball was on the plate.
05:18That ball, it was a, it was a sweeper that did not sweep all the way off the plate.
05:22It was a sweeper. Like if it, man, he barreled it and got his arms extended and hit it to
05:28straightaway center.
05:29It was not reaching. And we, and we know your Don and his eye at the plate, especially when he's
05:35hot.
05:35Yes. He had the green light, obviously at three Oh, but it was, it was a pitch that was hittable
05:41that you should have just said hell at two Oh, you should have pointed him down there.
05:46I wouldn't like, we talked about this in the playoffs when he got real hot, when Scott services, dumb ass
05:52kept Scott is not a dumb person, but Scott was really dumb during that, during that round of the playoffs
05:59where he just continued to let your Don win.
06:01And we were like, it doesn't matter if it is a one run game or a tie game.
06:07And he comes to the plate, he's in scoring position.
06:11No question.
06:13Yesterday, eighth inning to two, he comes to the plate.
06:16Great. Nobody on. I know he's in scoring position, especially yes.
06:21Christian Walker is swinging a hot bat this year.
06:23Okay. But after him, it's Trammell.
06:26I don't care how many hits he had coming up into that, to that point.
06:30I I'd rather deal with Trammell and his two hits.
06:33All right. He laid down a hell of a bunt that caused him to throw the ball.
06:36Small ball strikes again, but I'm taking, but we know Trammell shoemake, uh, Cam Smith.
06:43That's lurking. I'd rather deal with those guys than this.
06:46Why would you even, Walker, Walker, if Walker and Trammell get me, my job's not on the line.
06:50If Alvarez continues to get me, people are questioning what the hell I'm doing.
06:53If Alvarez gets me three Oh, and hits a ball out of the ballpark.
06:56Like I got like Jerry, Jerry Jones, Mark Cuban, anybody associated with Arlington Dallas sports.
07:03He should be fined.
07:05That is absent. That was absolutely ridiculous.
07:08It was ridiculous that he let him pitch.
07:11Yeah.
07:11That they let him pitch.
07:11Yeah. I mean, you know, I mean, I'm an extremist when it comes to that.
07:14Like I would, I mean, hell I, I'd be tempted to walk his ass in the first inning.
07:19You ain't finna get off to a big start for me.
07:20Are you going to walk him in the first?
07:22Damn sure if a pitcher gets to three Oh.
07:24Yes. I mean, damn sure.
07:26If you, if that first pitch you don't have, doesn't have him fooled.
07:29And I can't see like, Oh, maybe we got the best of him.
07:31Yeah. We're not, we're not going to get three Oh, some of the plate.
07:34That's that's, I mean, that's for damn sure.
07:35But again, I just think the bigger point, we all know how great of a hitter he is.
07:40I think the bigger point is, is I mean, this dude's just on a different planet.
07:43I mean, he, he hits, he hits good pitches that may be out of the strike zone, out of the
07:49park effortlessly.
07:52Like the, the, the frequency of which he barrels up baseballs,
07:55which I think is the hardest thing to do in all of sports is, is, is hit a baseball.
08:00It's coming at you anywhere from 80 to, to 105 miles an hour.
08:04And, and might be falling off a ledge at the time to barrel that thing up at the rate that
08:09he barrels it up
08:10and then hits it as far as he hits it as often as he does is wild.
08:15No, no, it is.
08:17And his, that's the thing that really separates him.
08:21And we've talked about this over the years.
08:22Clinton Tyler on this show is, is, is unlike, this is going to be all over Tyler.
08:30Unlike, you know, guys like Aaron judge and show.
08:35Hey, at times, like it's, it, it's like it increases in the big moment for him.
08:43Like he, like his ability increases when late innings and the game is tied or they need a big hit.
08:52Like he, he comes through far more than even other great players around him.
08:58It's, it's, it is, it's crazy.
09:00And he's not getting a lot of pitches to work with because most, but most are trying to.
09:07Well, I think, I don't, don't you think that he and Tyler, this is, this is a good, good, good
09:11point.
09:11Maybe, maybe for a full segment.
09:14It's exactly like the Astros over the last 12 years or however long it's been 10 years, 12 years.
09:21What do we, I don't know.
09:22It's, it's, it's been a while, but when you look back at those things, you can say that same thing.
09:26Now, obviously a different hitter, but you can say the same thing about Springer.
09:29You can say the same thing about Carlos Correa.
09:32You say the same thing about Altuve.
09:34Altuve, like Alvarez is just, well, I guess he's not the last man standing.
09:37He is right now because, because Al, because Altuve and Correa are hurt.
09:40But like, he's got that with the power, with the, obviously to a different level, but he's got that clutch
09:45gene to your point, Ron, of where in the big moments, it's like, you don't even think about the worst.
09:50You think about him hitting a bomb and changing the game every single time.
09:54Yeah, man.
09:55Like, obviously in the World Series, he flipped that thing upside down.
09:58Yeah.
09:58But that, like he just, and he just had.
10:00Where were we at?
10:00We were at Buffalo?
10:01No, we were at Twin Peaks?
10:02Were we at Twin Peaks?
10:03No, that one, that one we were, that one I was in the midst of driving to Little Woodrow's because
10:10that was the clincher.
10:12That was the clincher.
10:12I was in it, yeah.
10:13Who hit the bomb at Twin Peaks when we were in?
10:16It was him.
10:17We were, it was the Seattle Series.
10:18Yes.
10:19Early.
10:20Again, yeah.
10:20And then he said, there's a video on IG when I just lost my mind later on in the series
10:28when Scott Service just allowed him to do it to him again.
10:32And I do, I do, Clinton and Tyler know this.
10:36I, even if it serves my team, I just get really annoyed with just stupid decisions.
10:43Just, just stupid decisions.
10:463-0.
10:47He threw that pitch up there like, first off, it should have been taken out of his hands.
10:51Take a walk.
10:53Take a walk.
10:55But he threw that pitch as if he was trying to, like, get back into the count.
10:58Let me get back, let me crawl back in his hands.
11:00All right, let's say, let's say he does take it.
11:01What, you want to get to 3-1 with him?
11:03Like, what?
11:04Like, it is.
11:06No, man, it is.
11:07Well, someone text in, this has to be a troll job, right, Tyler?
11:11What has Jock Peterson done this series?
11:13Yesterday, too.
11:14Come on, guys.
11:15Yordan ain't curing cancer.
11:16Here y'all go again.
11:17Yordan hands about to start hurting after this series is over.
11:20He's the best hitter in baseball, dude.
11:22What are you doing comparing him to Jock Peterson?
11:24Jock's got a great name and had a good little game.
11:28He's got a good run.
11:29Go back under your bridge troll, friend.
11:32If this is not a troll job and this is how this person really is,
11:38I bet he gets on his friend's nerves.
11:40A lot.
11:41And they probably don't say it to his face, but they talk about him.
11:44As soon as he leaves.
11:45They talk about, oh, my God, man.
11:47You see Craig.
11:47I didn't think he was ever going to leave.
11:48Oh, my God, Craig.
11:50Here he goes again complaining about this.
11:52He's the friend that when another friend texted you and was like,
11:55hey, some of us are going to get some beers, man.
11:56Let's meet up here.
11:57You're like, well, so-and-so going to be there?
11:59Oh, I'm out.
12:00Hey, Craig.
12:01Hey, Craig, did you just put Jock Peterson in the same category
12:05with Yordan Alvarez?
12:06I know it was just a conversation sake, but did you just do that?
12:08Craig, take your punk ass off.
12:10I don't take tequila shots.
12:11I just take whiskey.
12:14I just take whiskey.
12:17Never drive.
12:19Craig.
12:19Always, always try to get picked up.
12:22Never ready when it's time.
12:24Sounds like you got a Craig in your world back in the day.
12:27I'll come back.
