00:00It's the 5 o'clock fire.
00:03Ah, it is 5 o'clock. Congratulations.
00:06Hopefully you're off work.
00:07Luckily for you, oh, dirty show, T-Mill, and that's it.
00:13Have the latest.
00:14And the latest is the Astros.
00:16They were off yesterday.
00:18They had a god-awful homestand against bad teams,
00:21which just makes you only say maybe they're 1-2.
00:25As they go 3-6 versus the Mariners.
00:30The Angels and the A's.
00:32And they need a big, big series coming up,
00:36starting against the New York Yankees in Yankee Stadium.
00:39But obviously there was huge news yesterday
00:43that involved the decision to move on from their general manager, Dana Brown.
00:49There was also news from a couple of sources,
00:53including our guy Hotel Bobby, Hotel Lobby Bobby, 2 Chainz,
00:57the man who likes vodka and just a little bit of cranberry juice.
01:03For USA Today, Bob Nightingale,
01:06saying that at one point Joe Espada had been formed
01:11by a high-ranking Astros official that this would be his last season.
01:16Someone also reported that he was given the option to leave now
01:20or coach the rest of the season,
01:22and he chose to manage the team the rest of the season.
01:24So many different things being thought of.
01:27Well, Clint, Jim Crane made the trip to Yankee Stadium.
01:32And they said he spoke to reporters for about 10 minutes.
01:38Astros owner Jim Crane also had a closed-door meeting
01:43with his manager, Joe Espada, in the office in the visiting clubhouse.
01:51Comments here from Chandler Rome.
01:53Among highlights in Jim Crane's address of reporters,
01:59Houston's performance on its past homestand
02:02didn't have anything to do with Jim Crane's decision to replace Dana Brown,
02:08and he announced that Joe Espada will manage the team the rest of the 2026 season.
02:16So he had a meeting with Espada, closed-door meeting with Espada.
02:20He also met with reporters for 10 minutes,
02:23said the 3-6 homestand that we just spoke of
02:27had nothing to do with the decision with Dana Brown,
02:30and that Joe, Lieutenant Joe, will be the manager for the rest of the season.
02:36Your thoughts?
02:38Yeah.
02:40That's about it.
02:42I mean, I don't think it took, you know,
02:45dropping six of nine games to all the division opponents that are below you
02:51and, you know, letting them force you right back into the thick of
02:56one of the worst divisions in baseball.
02:58I don't think, I honestly don't think that had anything to do with Dana Brown
03:03being relieved of his duties.
03:05I think this was, the writing was on the wall.
03:08I don't know what the significance is of the timing, to be honest with you.
03:11I think the minute that he vetoed a trade that the general manager had made at the deadline
03:16told us all that that guy is lamed up for sure.
03:20He's not coming back.
03:21So, I'm not sure what exactly forced his hand at that point in time, but nonetheless,
03:28it's, you never want the owner to be conducting pregame press conferences with the media.
03:36If that's happening, you know there's trouble in paradise.
03:39You don't want the owner to have closed-door meetings with the manager before a series
03:46and before a stretch of games against better opponents that you just absolutely need to get in the playoffs.
03:51You don't want that happening, and it doesn't happen unless there's trouble in paradise.
03:55So, there's no way to spin this thing as positive.
03:58At least Jim Crane is the face of it and talking to the media, I guess.
04:02But, yeah, this is not good for the Astros.
04:06No, and probably not great for Joe in terms of him keeping his job past the end of this season.
04:16Well, this is not good.
04:17Would not think that, but, yeah, Jim Crane and Lisa Spence.
04:23I think Jim could have probably done a press conference.
04:28Clearly, there's no real quotes.
04:30There's no, we're not in the audio.
04:32Tyler has been looking hard for any kind of audio or any video of this.
04:38This looks like this might have been impromptu, and he just spoke to people and rolled through real quick on
04:44it.
04:44So, but that's the latest coming from Jim Crane.
04:48No other questions on who's going to manage the rest of the way.
04:52As for tonight's game, they're in Yankee Stadium.
04:55That thing is probably going to start right as we potentially get off the air here.
05:03However, the rookie, Ethan Petko, gets to make a star in Yankee Stadium.
05:12And he will have behind him Jeremy Pena leading off.
05:17Jordan Alvarez behind him is the DH Paredes Altuve.
05:22Your favorite bar show right after Altuve with Christian Walker behind him.
05:26And late night, Lamont Wade Jr. is behind him.
05:33Yiner Diaz catching and Taylor Trammell is in the nine spot.
05:39So, that is the lineup tonight.
05:42And right now, Clint, they have got to get going.
05:44They got to flush what happened on that homestand.
05:48I hope maybe they got out there.
05:49Maybe they had a little fun last night.
05:51Maybe they got a little drunk.
05:52Maybe they caught a show.
05:53Maybe they went to Broadway.
05:54Maybe they went to a comedy show.
05:55So, I don't know.
05:56Maybe they had something in New York.
05:58Did something.
05:59But maybe they flushed it and they can play a little free.
06:01But they got to have this.
06:03They have now slipped themselves into second place in the West and out of the wild card right now.
06:10Half a game out of both, but out of the wild card right now.
06:13They have got to pick it up.
06:14Yeah, look, they've officially made things a lot more difficult than they should have
06:18or than really any of us expected.
06:21I expected it to be a tight race down the stretch.
06:24I didn't expect them to just completely pee down their leg against the opponents that they did, unfortunately.
06:30So, just like the Astros, you know, this, I mean, nothing's going to be easy.
06:35You said this, I don't know, a month and a half ago of, like, this kind of stretch right here.
06:40You know, six games up in New York, away from home, road trip.
06:44You got three against the Yankees, three against the Mets.
06:46This is the kind of game, this kind of, you know, six-game stretch where the Astros just pull you
06:51right back in.
06:53They lay eggs against the Angels, the A's.
06:57This kind of series, get Tyler rolling right here.
06:59Oh, yeah.
06:59New York, the Yankees, Altuve does something.
07:02Right back in.
07:02He'll be buying tickets for the next homestand, I guarantee you.
07:05Oh, I don't know about that.
07:05It's been a while since we've gotten to see our children.
07:07It's good.
07:09If they win, take two of three from the Yankee turds, you go into a game and they come back?
07:14You know what?
07:14I'll agree to that right now.
07:16Yeah.
07:17100%.
07:17Just stop.
07:18I will.
07:19If they sweep them, I will for sure go to one.
07:21Don't make promises.
07:23No, no, that's not.
07:23Don't make promises.
07:24All right, just two.
07:25Two for three, you, I mean, you've all but said for sure.
07:29I mean, you made the commitment.
07:31Yeah, I'm in.
07:31I'm in.
07:33This is a travesty.
07:35What is?
07:35I love Yankee tears, man.
07:37They quenched my thirst.
07:38Tyler's got to have, he's happened to be bit.
07:41Into going to an Astros game?
07:42Going to an Astros game.
07:43I haven't been purposely not going.
07:46You just did it just now.
07:48It took a bit.
07:49Here's the deal.
07:50Here's the deal.
07:51That would help force myself to get out there to take it.
07:55You're killing me.
07:56If they take two of three, Ron's going to buy me and you tickets and me and you'll go.
08:01No, I'm not doing that.
08:02Deal.
08:02I'm in on that.
08:03I'm not agreeing to that.
08:04Virtual handshake through the glass.
08:06This is the problem right here.
08:08This guy.
08:09I'm trying to solve it.
08:11Been busy, man.
08:12I'll invest the time.
08:13I'll invest the time.
08:14Every year we've been here.
08:16Every year.
08:17You invest the money, I'll invest the time.
08:20Come on, man.
08:21I'll invest the fun.
08:23That's right.
08:24Tyler brings a laugh.
08:25I just bought a car.
08:27I had to buy cleats for everybody.
08:28Good hell.
08:30I mean, Tyler, we can't win for losing with this guy.
08:32If they win two of these games against Yankee turds, I'm sticking to it, whether Ron's going
08:38to spend the money or not with this cheap self.
08:41I'm going.
08:42I might go with you, T.
08:44Let's go.
08:44I might.
08:46Oh, yeah.
08:46Okay.
08:47What?
08:48Just popped up.
08:49Just popped up with these.
08:50Head on over the ice box.
08:52Oh, yeah.
08:53Oh, Nick goes out there and bulldozes a couple kids smaller than him, and Ron's out there
08:57buying the most expensive shoes that Nike sells.
09:00I did bigger size foot than any of those kids.
09:03Yeah, I didn't.
09:04Oh, Courtney?
09:05It showed up.
09:06Oh, Mama says, shoot, my baby's going to be out there rolling, folks.
09:09He got to have him bright shoes on and bright green ones on, baby, so I can find him.
09:15I got a message for those Yankee turds.
09:18Five o'clock fire.
09:19All right, again, if you missed it earlier, we had Doug Voss of the Houston Texans who headlines
09:27and leads that group that had so much to do with the new uniforms that they released
09:33today, and they're amazing.
09:35The rivalry uniforms, they're going to be worn week 11 in a Thursday night game against
09:41the Colts.
09:42And Texans chair and CEO, Cal McNair, said from the beginning, we charged our team with
09:47creating something meaningful for Houston and Texans fans, and they delivered.
09:52As a native Houstonian, I know how special the details of this uniform and uniform are,
10:00and we hope our fans will take great pride in the fact that this is a unique thing to
10:06our city.
10:07The white helmet is a special nod to the beginning of our franchise as we celebrate our 25th season,
10:14and we can't wait to see our players take the field in these uniforms.
10:19Clint, I know on this show we're honest about things.
10:24We're very honest.
10:25We don't just say things to say it.
10:27But these are right up there.
10:31I thought the red ones were the best ones they made.
10:33I still love that helmet the best.
10:36But these all-white joints that they're going to wear on Thursday, these are clean as hell.
10:40Yeah, this rivalry uniform for me, for the Houston Texans, is the best uniform that they
10:46have, and I think it, for me personally, I like the icy white, so I'm going to go with
10:51the Cincinnati Bengals all-white joint is up there.
10:56So I think this one's right up there with it.
10:57It's one of the best in the league.
10:58It's one of the best alternates for sure.
11:01I thought they knocked it out of the park.
11:03I mean, I'll be honest with you.
11:05Doug Vosk, I told him when he was here.
11:06I mean, he and his staff, they have knocked it out of the park.
11:10They are batting 1,000.
11:11When it comes to the complete rebranding of the Texans' organization, because it's not
11:17just uniforms, although the uniforms drive a lot of it, it's not just uniforms.
11:21I mean, the people that they've got involved, the history that they've included, the way
11:31that they've taken the fans' input to heart and actually used it and not just had it just
11:37as a community piece, I mean, they literally take it to heart.
11:43And then, obviously, the uniform design.
11:45I mean, you could very easily, with the tile concept, with that blue, you could very easily
11:51do too much or have something that's kind of squirrely.
11:55This uniform is absolute nails, man.
11:58The tiles are obviously accent pieces around the sleeves and the nameplate, and then about
12:06three-quarters down the leg.
12:08Not going all the way down the leg was, I think, a great idea.
12:12Just little simple things like that, like not having a red piping around the numbers on
12:18the jersey.
12:19Stuff like that, man, I think just makes this one look so, so clean, man.
12:23This is a, this is a, I mean, it's a top jersey in the NFL.
12:27It's a top uniform in the NFL, no question.
12:29Yeah, no.
12:30I don't care where you're from.
12:31It's up there.
12:32It's up there with the top three, no matter how you slice it.
12:34No, they did a, they did a great job with, uh, with those uniforms.
12:39Uh, I, I mean, the last two they put out, I'm not going to lie to you.
12:42I, I told you this before the, the original H-Town ones, the blue ones, Tyler, you know
12:48what I'm talking about?
12:49Yeah, those are sick.
12:50Those were my favorites until these.
12:52Yeah, those were just fine for me.
12:55That's fair when you got these now.
12:57For me, I mean, those were, those were just, yeah, those were my favorite.
13:00Well, they're fine.
13:01Yeah, they were just fine.
13:02Yeah.
13:02You know, I, they were fine.
13:03They were, they were, they were okay.
13:05They were okay.
13:06Yeah.
13:06The red ones they came through, I remember we were in, in Canton and we saw that they
13:10had the, the Andre, like jersey dressed up in that with the mannequin.
13:15I said, well, they, well, they got something here.
13:18I can't wait till they wear these jokers.
13:19They made that battle red candy apple.
13:21And then that, that, that, that, that all white, boy, that is, that is clean right
13:27there.
13:27So that's, that's a good look.
13:30Five o'clock fire.
