00:00Tatsuya Imai chooses the Houston Astros. He will go there on a three-year deal,
00:05$18 million a year guaranteed, with very makeable incentives. A million dollars
00:11each at 80 innings, 90 and 100. If he does it once, he triggers it all three
00:16years. So $63 million pretty likely if he stays. He does have an opt-out after
00:21each of the two years. So opt-out every year for Imai, which gives them a chance
00:26to get a really big deal after one year or after two years, depending on how he
00:30does. Obviously very talented pitcher, right-hander, 27 years old, did not have
00:37the market that Yamamoto had. Ends up with the third biggest contract for a
00:41pitcher only from Japan, not counting Otani there, but behind Yamamoto, behind
00:46Tanaka. Third biggest ever and a chance to do even better with the opt-outs.
00:51Yankees and Mets really were not very, very involved in this. There were a lot of
00:55discussions. Ultimately, they were really not in the bidding. The Cubs were one of
01:00the teams in the bidding at some point, but this is a bit of a surprise. The
01:05Astros had not been mentioned many times, and Houston has been looking for
01:09pitching. We didn't think they had much money. Turns out they had a bit more
01:12money than we thought, and they get the big deal of the day. Yankees and Mets
01:17right now concentrating on Bellinger, Yankees' number one target. Mets love him for
01:21his all-around play and defense. Should be interesting. L.A., San Francisco,
01:26potentially Toronto, depending on how things work out with Tucker. Also a
01:30possibility on Bellinger, but that's where the Yankees and Mets stand. Really,
01:33we're never in on Emai for whatever reason. Goes to the Houston Astros. Bit of a
01:39surprise. Big move for the Astros.
