00:00Former PSA executive member Nixon Callender is describing the ongoing negotiations between the CPO and the Public Services Association as
00:10a theatrical exercise, urging public servants to pay close attention to what he believes is happening.
00:17The CPO is not negotiating with a trade union representative. The CPO is negotiating with himself. What we're seeing here
00:29is a lot of theatrics. There's a lot of gimmickry. Because the CPO is doing his job. The CPO is
00:39paid by the state. The minister finances his boss. Who is Felicia Thomas and him boss?
00:45Callender argues the PSA's leadership has a duty to protect the membership's entitlements. But, he says, the current process is
00:55being undermined by a conflict of interest between the government and the union. He also raises concern that the general
01:02council may be compromised, adding that the matter may require formal judicial intervention.
01:08If all they really value the amount of money that we pay in all they induce, all they're supposed to
01:15say, keep that for $4,500. We're going to seek legal counsel. Because, again, this is no longer a dispute
01:25for the special tribunal. This hits at your constitutional right and freedom of enjoyment and to spend your money how
01:32you want.
01:32Callender is further urging public officers to take a firm stand on how their entitlement is handled going forward.
01:41Public officers, when they sign that 10%, legally, legal, expectation is that their arrears are paid in cash. Nothing else.
