00:00According to Gary Griffith, the National Security Minister is playing with words.
00:05At a news conference on Monday, Minister Hines told the media
00:09that all matters pertaining to the SSA are under active police investigation,
00:14adding that this business of rehiring is not true.
00:18Today, in an interview on The Morning Edition, Griffith maintained that there are some talks taking place.
00:24It is a fact. They met. They have been discussing.
00:27And my point being is that if you are having discussions, why have discussions with these individuals
00:31when you claim they were part of a cult, part of a coup, part of a plot to destabilise the country,
00:36involved in terrorist activities. You have made these accusations on these individuals
00:40and now you are having discussions with them. And the reason being is straightforward.
00:44The reason being is that each and every one of them will probably sue the state for 10 to 20 million dollars.
00:49He tells TV6 it appears that the minister could not directly respond to questions from media on the issue.
00:56Of course he must be in a position to state that. Is there a rogue element in the SSA now
01:01meeting with potential cult members, potential assassins, potential terrorists
01:07that members of the government, representing the government, would be meeting with these individuals
01:12who are under police investigation and you as the Minister of National Security do not know?
01:17That is unbelievable for him to state that he does not know that persons representing the SSA,
01:23legal persons, have been meeting with the SSA persons.
01:26On the subject of the recent police roadblock exercise, Griffith tells us it was not proper strategy
01:32to conduct the operation for so long. He believes the duration of the operation nullified its purpose.
01:40You would never see roadblocks for hours in Miami, in London, in New York.
01:44What happens is 15 minutes and the reason being is I was training the best military academy in the world
01:50when it is being prepared against wars against the IRA. 15 minutes after a roadblock it becomes irrelevant
01:56because especially now in the era of technology with ways, with group chats, with criminals having a lead scout.
02:02So anytime you have a roadblock for more than 15 minutes you have to be the dumbest criminal in the world
02:07to stay in a roadblock. So all the roadblock will do now is to inconvenience citizens, frustrate them more
02:13and get to despise the police more.
