Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to resign and hand over power to the Deputy Chief Minister following instructions from the ruling party's central leadership.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome, good evening, namaskara to the special edition of NewsTrack on India.
00:05Today I'm Akshita Nandakopal joining you live from the Vidant Sauda in Bengaluru.
00:09What a day it's been in Karnataka.
00:12What's been, you know, murmured about, what's been in the whispers and corridors of power in Karnataka is finally happening.
00:19That there is a change of guard in the Chief Minister chair.
00:24It's Sidra Maya handing over the reins to D.K. Shiv Kumar.
00:27There have been hurdles, there have been hiccups, but ultimately it looks like we're on the road towards a smooth
00:33transition of power.
00:35The only hiccup, the only hurdle is that right now Sidra Maya has rejected the Congress High Command's offer of
00:42a Rajas Abbas seat.
00:43And so placating him, coming up with a compromise formula seems to be the biggest challenge right now for the
00:49Congress High Command.
00:50But irrespective, Sidra Maya is all set to resign tomorrow, hand over his resignation and therefore pave the way for
00:57D.K. Shiv Kumar to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
01:01So we're turning the page to a new chapter as far as Karnataka politics is concerned.
01:05This has been spoken about for the last many months.
01:08We've seen power games, we've seen flexes, we've seen politics and a whole lot of posturing.
01:12But it all comes down to the next 24, I'd say the next 48 hours.
01:18But let me sum up for you, the day's Big Developments first did a report before I bring in my
01:23colleagues to get you all the updates of what to expect going forward.
01:27Here's that report.
01:30Till barely 12 hours before the high-stakes Delhi meeting, the indication was that the Congress would stay with status
01:38quo in Karnataka.
01:40Most observers believed that Sidra Maya would continue and the power-sharing formula would be delayed yet again and the
01:47party would avoid rocking the boat.
01:49But the boat has been rocked and by the Congress High Command itself.
01:54Even a Sidra Maya refuses to directly answer about regime change.
02:07Karnataka minister has confirmed India Today news break.
02:11Ashok Patan has said that Sidra Maya will submit his resignation to governor at 3pm on Thursday.
02:18He also said that DK Shivakumar may get the reins of the state.
02:23We went to CM's house and we gathered nearly 40 MLS, we are there.
02:27Just to courtesy, we went there and we were discussing so many things.
02:31I think CM has maybe given his jurisdiction tomorrow after 3 o'clock.
02:37He has taken already an appointment with the governor also.
02:41The CM High Command will decide.
02:42Most probably DK Shivakumar will be the chief minister.
02:49Amid growing political speculation, supporters of Chief Minister Sidra Maya stage a protest outside his residence,
02:57raising pro-Sidra Maya slogans and urging him not to resign from the chief minister's post.
03:03The development comes as Sidra Maya received the cast survey report and is reportedly keen on clearing the report
03:10before taking any decision on his resignation.
03:14Sidra Maya is set to host a breakfast meeting for the entire cabinet at his residence on Thursday.
03:21This meeting will also be attended by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar,
03:26who is now the frontrunner to get the top post.
03:30Karnataka is only the latest sign of a wider shift in Congress strategy in the South.
03:38In Keralam, despite resistance within sections of the party,
03:42Congress leadership picked Vidi Satishan over KC Venu Gopal as the party's chief minister face in the state.
03:51And before Keralam, came Tamil Nadu.
03:53In perhaps the boldest shift yet, Congress quietly and quickly moved away from its decades-long alliance with DMK
04:01and died up with Vijay's TVK.
04:04Now Congress is part of Tamil Nadu government after 59 years.
04:12Three sudden states, three difficult calls.
04:15And in all three, Congress chose disruption over comfort.
04:19Does one political season redefine a party?
04:23Perhaps not.
04:24But after years of being accused of moving too slowly,
04:29clinging to status quo and reacting too late,
04:32the Congress suddenly appears more willing to take risks,
04:36reshuffle power centres and move with the speed rarely seen before.
04:41Bureau Report, India Today.
04:46So a lot has happened in the last 24 hours.
04:50But the next 24 hours is what's truly crucial in Karnataka.
04:54Because you're going to be seeing a leader like Sidra Maya actually stepping down,
04:59resigning simply because the high command has asked him to do so.
05:02While we've seen a whole lot of political turmoil play out in Karnataka in the last few months,
05:07does this signal the end of that political turmoil or just the beginning
05:11and another chapter that will play out now in the weeks to come?
05:15I've got the best team here with me,
05:17Nagar Chandwar Kanat, Anaga Keshav, Apoor Wajai Chandran and Sagai Raj,
05:21who've been camping out in Bengaluru, covering this a lot longer than I have.
05:25I know the ins and outs of what's really happening right now,
05:28whether it's the DK camp or the Sidra Maya camp.
05:31And Naga, I'm going to begin with you.
05:32We've seen a whole lot of twists and turns taking place in the last few months.
05:36So it all comes down to the next 24 hours.
05:39For DK Shiv Kumar's dream to come true of becoming the chief minister
05:42and be seated behind me, the Vidhan Sauda, as the chief minister.
05:47Sidra Maya hasn't agreed to the compromise formula yet.
05:50So could that throw a spanner in the works?
05:52I think that ship has sailed much beyond Sidra Maya's outrage.
05:56He's been communicated that he has to resign and which will happen tomorrow.
06:00And remember that official statement of the party high command has not been the same.
06:03It's been of Rajasabha election and the MLC election.
06:06That's the discussion.
06:07But when we meet the close associates of both DK and Sidra Maya,
06:11we have got confirmation that there was a clear instruction for resignation.
06:14That also is a reason why they don't want to have the backlash of the community.
06:18They don't want to make it official.
06:20But tomorrow what would happen is the chief minister is hosting breakfast.
06:23In the breakfast, he's going to tell the cabinet colleagues
06:26about the deliberations that took place between Rahul Gandhi and him,
06:29that the instruction that he's received,
06:30and maybe share what he felt for all of them in the last three years.
06:35Remember, he's been CM twice, leader of opposition twice.
06:37And in certain ways, this is the end of...
06:40He handled it in a very dignified way.
06:42Absolutely.
06:43Credit to both of them.
06:44In the last three years, even before the elections,
06:46we knew that these two leaders were eyeing for the big chair.
06:50All said and done, they came together in no public spat,
06:53no comments about each other, no matter what.
06:56All the gossip was when you put off the camera,
06:58when you have a cup of coffee with them.
07:00But in public's life, they maintained dignity and respected each other's face.
07:05As latest as the photo that we saw in AICC,
07:08both had booed body language.
07:11They were talking to each other.
07:12So that shows that they are united.
07:14But however, now there seems to be animosity
07:16because they went in separate flights.
07:19They have not spoken to each other after the instruction was given.
07:22But tomorrow, D.K. Shukumar will fly directly
07:25and meet the chief minister.
07:26And I'm told he might accompany the CM also to the Lok Bhavan.
07:30It's quite an image because...
07:32That will be hugely symbolic.
07:33The man who wants to be the next chief minister
07:34is holding the CM, walking to the Lok Bhavan,
07:37literally saying, I'm in line, please resign.
07:40Wow.
07:40And that will be hugely symbolic.
07:42Sagai, you know, we've finally reached the end.
07:44Are you heaving a sigh of relief
07:46that finally we're going to see this chapter?
07:49Did you think it's coming or not really?
07:50Do you think it will be a sigh of relief in Karnataka?
07:53I mean, I don't know.
07:54I don't know.
07:54When you've got Nataka in the name itself, I don't know.
07:57I think after this, you might come again
07:59for cabinet reshuffle, cabinet expansion
08:01and more drama to expect.
08:03And definitely, as of now, it seems to be an end
08:05because the power tussle is there
08:07for more than two and a half years now.
08:08It's almost three years.
08:09And it has come to an end.
08:11And tomorrow, probably,
08:12we will get to know how it is going to happen.
08:15Now, as Nagarjan was telling that
08:17DK Shukumar will accompany with Siddharamaya,
08:20it is going to be a big day for both of them.
08:21No, but tell me something.
08:22For DK Shukumar, what went most in his favor right now?
08:25That we're seeing finally this moment shape up.
08:27For months, he's been trying.
08:29Nothing moved.
08:30Now, finally, the high command said,
08:32this is the time.
08:32Why is that?
08:33He never crossed the Lakshman Rekha of the party.
08:36Whether it's any kind of comments
08:38or about his style of work,
08:40he never crossed the party's line.
08:42And he always said that
08:44whatever the high command says,
08:45he will try to do that.
08:46And if you notice, his work speaks.
08:49In 2019, when he took up as a KPCC president,
08:53the Congress office was completely deserted.
08:56You had a president, KPCC president, Dinesh Mudra,
09:00who resigned to court moral responsibility
09:01when Congress won only one seat.
09:04And that to DK Suresh from Kanakpura.
09:07Apart from him,
09:08the Congress completely lost in the Lok Sabha election.
09:11And he took moral responsibility and resigned.
09:14Till then, the morale of the Congress workers
09:17was completely shattered.
09:19And they were looking for someone.
09:21And he was the person who came.
09:22And once he came,
09:23it was a resurrection of the party,
09:25whether it is a renovation or the protest
09:27or PCM campaign, everything.
09:30Everything kick-started.
09:31And there was a sudden josh amongst the workers
09:34which helped them.
09:36And actually, those things have converted into seats.
09:39And that is the reason.
09:40He says that no matter what,
09:43Sidhara Maya was the chief minister in 2018.
09:45There was not much hurdle for him.
09:47He had the complete freedom.
09:49Yeah.
09:492000 to 2018.
09:51He was more powerful.
09:52But still, he couldn't retain.
09:55But most of them say,
09:56because the organization work of DK Shukumar and Sidhara Maya
10:01as just like a Jodi Yattu in Karnada.
10:05So this is the combination of both.
10:07No, but that combination doesn't happen anymore, Anagar.
10:10It's the end of that combination.
10:12Now it's just DK Shukumar in the spotlight.
10:14Because now it was CM, deputy CM right up until now.
10:17There's no question of Sidhara Maya sitting back
10:18and being a deputy or anything of that sort.
10:20It's CM or nothing for him.
10:22He's made that very clear.
10:23So that Jodi, as Sagai puts it, has come to an end.
10:26He even recoined that term Shivara Maya on India today
10:28when Sidhara Maya took court as a chief minister.
10:31So even if he does retire from his post as a chief minister,
10:34he's very much going to be a part of state politics.
10:37He might ask for a cabinet birth for his son Yatindra
10:40or even make one of his aides the next deputy chief minister
10:44just so that he still controls the state politics.
10:47Until he retires voluntarily,
10:49he's not going to be out of the picture.
10:51He might not be the chief minister,
10:52but he'll very much play behind the scenes part.
10:55And that's the kind of legacy that he carries.
10:58Remember, this year, January,
11:00he surpassed Devraj Aras
11:02as the longest serving chief minister of Karnataka.
11:04It was, I think, 240 days.
11:06He's also the finance minister
11:10who has presented the highest number of finance budget.
11:13So I think he does have a lot of feathers in his capital.
11:16Unfortunately for Karnataka politics,
11:17this is a seven-year syndrome.
11:19You had Nijlingappa, seventh year,
11:22lost the power in the sense...
11:23So you're saying it's a jinx.
11:24It's a jinx.
11:24So in cricket, there's score 89 for Australians.
11:27The moment you're at 89,
11:29most often that you're out at 89 scores.
11:32So either you're from 88, you go to 90,
11:35skip 89.
11:35But if you're at 89,
11:36most of the times you're out as an Australian cricketer.
11:39Everyone knows who follows the cricket...
11:41So there's a similar seven-year dream.
11:43Yes, so I'll give you the break-up.
11:44Nijlingappa, seven years out.
11:46And then comes Devrajars.
11:48First six years, because one year extra due to emergency.
11:51And then the seventh year in office, out of the chair.
11:53And then Ram Krishnegade finishing almost seven years out of the chair.
11:57Then comes Sidramaya, five before and two now, out of the chair.
12:00But you do feel for Sidramaya, you know.
12:02He did nothing wrong, Apoorva.
12:04He served as a chief minister.
12:06There was all this talk of, you know, others wanting the chair.
12:09He kept quiet through it, continued doing what he had to do.
12:13Now he's being offered a Rajasabha seat,
12:15which clearly he's not keen on.
12:16He wants to stick to Karnataka politics.
12:18You do feel for him, because for no fault of his,
12:21he's being replaced as the chief minister.
12:23Well, no, in fact, if you do see Sidramaya's track record as well,
12:27he is still the most beloved leader in Karnataka.
12:30And I think that stands a testament to the kind of, you know,
12:34governance that he has been able to provide.
12:36Even today, this morning, after that all-important Delhi meeting that took place,
12:40he came out and he put out a tweet saying that, you know,
12:43three years of Sarkara, the Karnataka Sarkara,
12:45what are the achievements that we did?
12:47And essentially, he's just trying to point out, you know,
12:49these are all the things that we have done in our governance.
12:51And this is the kind of good governance that we want to follow.
12:54Yes, like Nagarjun said, the seven-year streak might come to a stop right now,
12:59but hopefully, the next step that we will have to look further
13:02is to see if DK will be able to carry on and fulfil that seven-year streak,
13:06or is it yet again going to be, we're back here in a couple of weeks
13:10or a couple of months, you know, touch wood.
13:12Is there instability, Sagar, in Karnataka, if DK Shirkumar takes over,
13:17will there be instability?
13:18Because, you know, there's always this talk of whether there are two camps.
13:21He's largely supporters with Sidramaya.
13:23So will that lead to instability, rebellion, any of that?
13:26In any state, any parties, there is always more of internal politics
13:29than the external politics, and that will remain.
13:31And there will be challenges for him.
13:33But when it comes to Congress, as Nagarjun was telling that,
13:37whatever that you have, whatever the differences that you have,
13:39it is off the camera.
13:40Whenever it comes on table and talking to the people,
13:43it is all good, nothing to worry.
13:45And talking about Sidramaya.
13:47See, Sidramaya, when he joined Congress Party,
13:50he was welcomed at the red carpet.
13:52He never worked as a youth Congress.
13:54He never worked as a worker.
13:56He joined Congress Party as an opposition party leader.
14:00When he came, Malik Arjun Kargayi was shifted to Delhi politics.
14:04He is the one who was opposition party leader.
14:06Thereafter, he was the chief minister.
14:07And down to Bengaluru to ensure that she's a part of joining of Sidramaya.
14:12So nobody, nobody, nobody else, nobody...
14:15That's exactly...
14:16If you want to picture the caricature or personality of Sidramaya,
14:22he's like an elephant walking in the jungle,
14:24not looking here and there.
14:25If you're with him, you just walk next to him.
14:27That's it.
14:27He's just going to take the same route,
14:28no matter how big you are, how small you are.
14:32It's your wish.
14:33If you want to walk with him, you walk with him.
14:35Even if you don't come tomorrow...
14:36But he's a very smart politician.
14:38Absolutely.
14:38There's no doubt about it.
14:39Which is why even now,
14:40when he's going to submit his resignation tomorrow,
14:42I keep asking, you know, what will he do next?
14:45What is going to be next?
14:47He's a master...
14:47He's the Amazonian of Karnataka.
14:49He's a master...
14:50And you never know when he's going to play his cards.
14:55Probably tomorrow...
14:56He's a taro.
14:57I don't know.
14:58No, but DK Shukumar...
14:58And also seven.
15:00And also seven.
15:01So a lot of factors there, yeah.
15:02DK Shukumar also has a very good relationship with High Command.
15:05He has equated Sonia Gandhi to his own mother.
15:08He's still very grateful to Sonia about the fact
15:10that she came to visit him when he was in Tihar jail.
15:13So he still holds a lot of gratitude and high regard
15:16for both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
15:18So therefore, I think he's very much in the good books
15:20of these two leaders.
15:21I think that was the biggest factor that worked in his favor as well.
15:24That the High Command made a promise.
15:25It was just about living up to that promise.
15:28Which is why I say that Sidramaya had nothing to do with it.
15:30It was just a situation where all the consequences came together
15:35and so that ultimately met the Sidramaya.
15:37Like the stars aligned for DK Shukumar.
15:38Yeah, exactly.
15:39Stars aligned for DK Shukumar.
15:41Not only that, even if you see these three years of governance
15:43that both Sidramaya and DK Shukumar have given,
15:46it has been a balance because of the kind of camaraderie
15:49that they've shared.
15:50How they're going to keep up with this camaraderie
15:52or is it going to turn sour?
15:53We'll have to see.
15:54Like Saka said, is there still cards that Sidramaya will want to play
15:59or will he ultimately be like,
16:01okay, I'm done here.
16:02I will resign as the chief minister.
16:04I will give you the share to take forward.
16:06If at all, if I was Sidramaya, I will not have any regrets
16:09because I was only in power.
16:11I was an opposition party leader.
16:13I was a chief minister.
16:14I was a coordinating committee chairman.
16:16And again an opposition party leader.
16:18I'll tell you why he'll have a regret, right?
16:20You could say that, you know, for no fault of his,
16:23he's being made to step down,
16:25which is what I said earlier.
16:26No fault of his.
16:27He served as a good chief minister.
16:28He's a veteran leader.
16:29I would not agree with Saga.
16:30With his legacy, he would have wanted to complete a term.
16:33Absolutely.
16:33Forget now.
16:34He would want 2028 also.
16:36Politicians, even after them being buried,
16:38if you tell them you're giving the chair,
16:39they would wake up.
16:40I think that's the attraction of power, right?
16:43And that's why the fight is happening.
16:44What is at stake?
16:45You have 224 MLS at stake,
16:4928 MPs, 5 lakh crore of almost budget,
16:52one of the largest FDI states,
16:54GSDP are number three.
16:56You have everything in Karnataka
16:57and the most progressive states.
16:58The people are good here.
17:00And you're treated as a large...
17:02People are good everywhere, Naga.
17:03And talking about the weather...
17:04I'm just praising Karnataka.
17:05I'm specifically talking about...
17:06And how about weather, Naga?
17:07Yes, absolutely.
17:08I can't complain.
17:09I've just come from Delhi, 48 degrees.
17:11I will not complain about the weather here.
17:12No, but there's genuinely...
17:14I will not say anything about Shidhar.
17:15But there's genuinely affection of the MLAs
17:16with Sidharamaya.
17:17They share a bond with them.
17:19It's not political.
17:20It surpasses the politics of Congress Party.
17:23Sidharamaya also has very good friends with BJP
17:25because he also comes from the Janata Parivar, right?
17:28In JDS.
17:28So, one will, across the spectrum,
17:30agree that Sidharamaya had his own stature,
17:33own personality,
17:34that he took everyone along,
17:35irrespective of who you are,
17:37and had a genuine concern for the downtrodden.
17:39What is your ideal position then for Sidharamaya
17:42now that he's going to resign?
17:43May I butt in?
17:44I'm so sorry.
17:44I think he should accept the Rajasabha offer.
17:47That's the best scenario?
17:49Not just...
17:49Yeah, that's the best scenario,
17:50but also you should look at the other side of the story.
17:52If people like Sidharamaya goes to Rajasabha,
17:54it increases the stature of Rajasabha.
17:56People like him,
17:57with policy experience of over 40 years,
17:59need to be in Rajasabha.
18:01Absolutely.
18:02So, Rajasabha?
18:03Absolutely.
18:03And you never know how your...
18:04Is there no place in state politics?
18:06We never thought that Malik Arjun Kargay
18:09will go to that stature.
18:10He was a planning and statistic minister
18:12in Manmohan Singh's government,
18:14and we thought he will play a low player,
18:17low affair player in Congress,
18:20but suddenly he's a AACC president,
18:22and he was opposition party leader.
18:24And you never know what will happen to him.
18:26If I was Sidharamaya's son,
18:27I would be telling him,
18:28Father, please take the Rajasabha offer.
18:30Yeah, he'll say that,
18:31because he wants a cabinet post.
18:32But I also want to highlight
18:33how he overcame the biggest challenge of his career,
18:36which was the alleged Muda scam
18:38that happened just last year,
18:39and how he came out of it.
18:40The fact that even BK Shukumar stood by his side,
18:44BK had N number of opportunities
18:46to sort of cash in on that situation
18:47and milk the most that he could.
18:49But he chose to take the dignified approach,
18:53sort of, if I may say.
18:54So, standing with Sidharamaya,
18:56being patient and still saying that
18:57the case is still under investigation,
18:59let's be patient.
19:00So, Sidharamaya has tackled the biggest challenge
19:02of his career just before investigation.
19:04And, Achita, the last day of the business,
19:06today, we have noticed that
19:08how he played his card safely
19:09when it comes to accepting the backward-class commission.
19:11Yeah.
19:12The message is quite clear.
19:14On the day of exit,
19:15he will walk out as a champion
19:16of backward-class community.
19:18He entered as a champion,
19:20and he won't exit.
19:21That is the reason he accepted.
19:22He knows that,
19:23how it is going to take it forward,
19:24whether the government,
19:26the new government,
19:27will accept this or not,
19:28nobody knows.
19:29But he will tell.
19:30When I was there,
19:31I have done it.
19:32I have accepted it.
19:33It's all up to the new government
19:34how they're going to take this forward.
19:35Sidharamaya is a man
19:36where even if you're looking right through him,
19:37you can't figure out
19:38what he's feeling
19:38and what he's thinking.
19:40Today's body language...
19:40Vijay.
19:41Well, no,
19:42Vijay has no expression,
19:43but Sidharamaya,
19:44I'll tell you,
19:45when he was walking into Vidant Sadha
19:46to accept the state
19:47backward-class commission report,
19:49he walks in whizzling.
19:50I don't know if you've seen it.
19:51That's a signature style of Sidharamaya.
19:53He walks in with whizzling.
19:54He always whizzles.
19:55He's whizzling.
19:55Yeah, he's whizzling.
19:57He whizzles that way.
19:58He's singing a song.
19:59In his mind,
19:59he might be singing,
20:00humming,
20:00but he's always whizzling
20:02to show that he's calm,
20:03composed and walking in.
20:0424 hours later,
20:05he might not even be
20:06the chief minister of Karnataka,
20:07but to portray that
20:08he knows the cameras
20:09are looking at him,
20:10cameras are pointing towards him,
20:11that's where he would get off.
20:12No, I agree.
20:13Yesterday,
20:13he was smiling.
20:16I think the optics also now
20:17plays a very important role
20:19because Karnataka,
20:20for the Congress,
20:20has been a stronghold
20:21of all the southern states.
20:23In fact,
20:24it is Karnataka where,
20:25you know,
20:25they were able to build that bridge
20:27and then expand to other regions,
20:29be it Telangana,
20:30where Ravens Reddy is right now,
20:32or even in Tamil Nadu,
20:34where Vijay has now got
20:35the Congress MLAs on his side.
20:37So, you know,
20:38for Karnataka,
20:39it is at most important
20:40that Congress's high command
20:41also respects and agrees
20:43to the wishes of these two leaders,
20:46be it Sidharamaya or D.K. Shukmar.
20:48They honour whatever they had said.
20:50And yes,
20:50there will be other negotiations
20:52that might come down.
20:53Sidharamaya today might say,
20:54I don't want to Raj Sabha to eat tomorrow.
20:55He might ask for any...
20:58But you cannot discount Sidharamaya
20:59from Karnataka politics.
21:00Even if you talk off the camera
21:02with D.K. Shukmar,
21:03D.K. Shukmar will say,
21:04yes, I need Sidharamaya for 2028,
21:07no matter what,
21:08whether he resigned or not.
21:09We need him.
21:10We need him for campaign and to retain him.
21:13I think I will also highlight here
21:15that the Congress in the last many weeks
21:17has been incredibly busy
21:18with the southern states.
21:20Tamil Nadu going ahead
21:21and taking that very, very bold move
21:24and call of ditching the DMK,
21:25joining hands with the TVK.
21:27Kerala, where you had that whole CM conundrum,
21:30many would have said
21:30it's a Karnataka-like situation in the making,
21:32but they ensured that they made the right move,
21:35went with the public sentiment,
21:36not necessarily what the high command
21:37or who they're close to,
21:39but with public sentiment,
21:40which is VD Satishan.
21:41And now Karnataka,
21:42where they've said,
21:42we made a promise,
21:43we're going to fulfil it
21:44irrespective of how hard it is.
21:46And it's a hard one.
21:46Let's be very clear.
21:47And I'm sure you made that out
21:49of my conversation with my colleagues,
21:50that Sidramaya is a factor,
21:53a giant in Karnataka politics
21:55who you cannot dismiss.
21:57It's going to be an early morning
21:58for all of us tomorrow,
21:59considering that in Karnataka,
22:01it's never about lunch politics
22:03or dinner politics, unfortunately.
22:04It's always about breakfast politics.
22:06We South Indians love our breakfasts.
22:08So tomorrow,
22:09we'll catch you live from early in the morning
22:12over a hot plate, I'm sure,
22:14of idlis, of sambar.
22:16What else will be on the plate?
22:17What else will Sidramaya say?
22:18So there's upma, there's kesari bah,
22:19upit, there's kesari bah,
22:20there'll be idli, there's dosa
22:22and some vada as well.
22:23I hope some of it reaches us
22:24standing outside.
22:25But we'll all be joining you
22:26tomorrow morning
22:27for that coverage,
22:29live coverage of the breakfast meeting,
22:31the last meeting
22:31that Sidramaya will have
22:32with this cabinet
22:33and then when he tenders
22:34his resignation.
22:35We'll have all of us live
22:37joining you on the day
22:39when Karnataka will see
22:41Sidramaya stepping down
22:42as the chief minister.
22:43But thanks very much
22:44for tuning in
22:44to the special edition of NewsTrack.
22:46That's all we have time for.
22:47Good night.
22:48Good night.
