00:20Hey guys, welcome back to another episode.
00:24So I am up in, I guess it's far north Queensland, but over up on the Gulf.
00:28If you did watch the last episode, Jaz and I have done a big trip, I've flown from Tassie
00:33up to Cairns and then we did a big drive over to the Gulf.
00:36So if you didn't see that last episode, I will give you guys a little bit of a rundown
00:41of that now.
01:03Now we've spent the last few days just living the good life up out on the ocean, fishing
01:08and just soaking in the sun rays.
01:10But we were thinking this morning, you know what would be even better?
01:13If we could get some mud crabs.
01:15Now we are putting no pressure on ourselves because we don't really know this area, but
01:19we got some crab pots and we've got a little bit of hope.
01:22And I think that's all you need.
01:24We're not going to get any if we don't chuck some out.
01:26We do have a plan B of maybe walking through the mangroves if we don't get any, but that
01:31is worst case scenario.
01:32So we're going to chuck the pots out, leave them for a few hours and go fishing and then
01:37we'll check them this afternoon and then we'll probably end up putting them back in and checking
01:40them tomorrow too.
01:41But we're just going to take the day as it comes.
01:43So let's get out amongst it and get these crab pots in the water.
02:05We can't really go too close because of the tides, but we've got one, two, three, four
02:10pots and we're just going to chuck the fish frames in them now.
02:42We're not going to get these crab pots.
03:01if that head was a little bit bigger we would have just done that but it's only really small
03:05so we're going to put the body in as well we've just tied it up nice and tight so it'll
03:10be right
03:10in the middle it is a requirement to put your name and number on float so we're just going to
03:22tie these
03:23onto the pots and then we'll chuck these first two out pot number one that's a pretty big fish
03:31head in there so hopefully that should be enough
04:02all four pots are in i'm so happy to be back out crabbing again so much fun so now for
04:08the next
04:08few hours we're just going to have a flick there isn't actually a heap of barra around at the
04:12moment from what all the locals are saying uh jazz and i obviously got a couple but yeah nothing to
04:17really brag about so maybe we'll get some queenies or some threadies or a big barra or nothing
04:24who knows but we're just happy we're gonna have fun regardless and we're happy to be out on the water
04:30giving it a crack anyway this is as fancy as we're getting right now lunch served
04:38no fish just yet either but the tide is running out so we're just going to base ourselves at the
04:43mouth of this little creek here we can see a heap of bait too they're up near the bank so
04:48hopefully that means some fish about
05:13we did just start out the front once you go around that corner there it actually is quite choppy
05:18so we just quickly check the pots no crabs just some jellyfish so we're going to leave them till
05:22the morning we've come back over to our little hopefully honey hole here we can see a bit of
05:27fish on the sounder but they're just not biting there is actually a fair few jellyfish
05:32fish
05:41look at that bird it's dropping it oh wow that's really close
06:37I do have hope.
06:39You have hope?
06:40Yep.
06:43Well, that's a good sign, guys.
06:44Jazz has hope.
06:46We might be here till into the dark,
06:47but we're thriving off hope and a nice sunset.
06:52And D&B.
06:53And drama base that I've just had to pause
06:55so that this video doesn't have issues with royalty-free.
07:30Look at all this bait.
07:31Bait, bait, bait.
07:36Maybe there's just too much for them to choose from.
07:38They're still jumping out of the water.
07:45Can you guys hear that?
07:46This boat is actually for sale as well.
07:49So if you did like it and you were in at the market
07:51for a new boat, make sure you hit them up.
07:54So I'm going to drop the boat in
07:55and send it across to our pots.
07:57Fingers crossed for some mud grabs.
08:21What an absolutely pearler of a morning.
08:25It is so flat.
08:26We have made it to our pots
08:28and we actually have a little bit of hope
08:30because the people that just come back to the boat ramp
08:32said that they have a few.
08:33So hopefully some crawled into our pots overnight.
08:37What do you reckon, Jazz?
08:38I reckon we're on.
08:39I reckon we actually could be on here.
08:42Does it feel heavy?
08:43It does actually feel pretty heavy.
08:45Does it?
08:45Probably full of jellyfish.
08:51Oh, we got a fish.
08:52Did we?
08:53We got a caddy.
08:55And a lot of jellyfish.
08:56Perfect.
09:06Nice.
09:14Get some of the mud off.
09:19No good for pot number one.
09:21Well, maybe that's not off to a very good start.
09:24Coming up to the pot two.
09:43Is it?
09:45Jazz, what the hell?
09:47That is a buck.
09:48What?
09:49One buck.
09:51No way.
09:52One buck and a jellyfish.
09:56Yes.
10:03We got a buck.
10:05We don't even need any more now.
10:08We're so stoked we've even got one.
10:10We're happy.
10:10We're happy.
10:11Look at Jazz.
10:12She's just sipping on her Coke Zero.
10:14Not a care in the world.
10:16How good.
10:17Pot number three.
10:28Oh, the bait's gone.
10:30Is it?
10:30Oh, my gosh.
10:31Oh, my gosh.
10:35Jazz.
10:35No way.
10:37Jazz.
10:38That's definitely Lego mall.
10:40No way.
10:43Turn crab.
10:44Oh, well.
10:45We have a fade there.
11:00Get off the jelly.
11:01Oh, he's got a hold of the jelly.
11:03Oh, my gosh.
11:07It's Jasmine's go for pot number four.
11:10Have a look.
11:11Yes.
11:12Are you kidding?
11:14What do you reckon?
11:15Two?
11:16Three?
11:16Maybe three.
11:18Save the best for last, I reckon.
11:21Crabs.
11:22Feeling heavy.
11:25Oh, this is why crabbing's so fun.
11:27It's such a guessing game.
11:32There's something in it.
11:33Oh, there's actually a fair bit going on in that.
11:35There's a little fish.
11:37Oh.
11:40Oh.
11:40Oh, you're kidding.
11:42Oh, we've still got two at least.
11:44Oh.
11:46There we go.
11:46We caught some fish.
11:47There you go, guys.
11:48We caught some fish for the episode.
11:50What a way to spend the last couple of days.
11:54And they are going to taste super yummy for lunch because we will cook them up on the beach.
12:07Tell me, baby, what's the way?
12:10Oh, what's the way?
12:13Tell me, baby, what's the way?
12:17What's the way I've got to do?
12:43Tell me, baby, what's the way?
12:46Oh, what's the way?
12:49Tell me, baby, what's the way?
12:53What's the way I've got to do?
13:01What's he got to do?
13:19Tell me, baby, what's the way?
13:22Oh, what's the way?
13:25Tell me, baby, what's the way?
13:27Tell me, what's the way I've got to do?
13:42And we are down on the beach.
13:44So I have just chucked a big pot on.
13:48Now, the best way, I think the best way to cook mud crabs is just boil them in salt water.
13:53They have so much flavor.
13:54They really don't need much.
13:55Or you can just put them straight on coal.
13:57Or you can get a bit fancy with it.
13:59And a chili mud crab dish is absolutely delicious.
14:03But today, we're just going to keep it nice and simple.
14:04Some mud crab by the beach, cooked in salt water.
14:11The water is starting to boil.
14:14So once it does, we'll just put the mud crabs straight in.
14:16And then leave it boiling for about another 10, 12 minutes.
14:20And then they'll be perfect, ready to go.
14:23It's now on the floor because it was taking too long up in the wind.
14:28But it is getting hot.
14:38Sound.
14:39Honestly.
14:40Nothing beats it.
14:43Guys, we're going to devour both of these.
14:46You know what's good when we start going silent?
14:48I don't even want to speak.
14:52Oh my gosh, that was delicious.
14:54Nothing beats mud crab.
14:56And nothing beats the lifestyle of up north.
14:59It's going to be hard for me to go back to Tassie after this.
15:01But I am going to wrap this adventure up here.
15:04Put the camera down.
15:05And enjoy the rest of the day in some sunshine.
15:08So thanks so much for being here.
15:10And I can't wait to see you guys in the next one.
15:13Bye.
15:19Bye.
15:21Bye.
15:21Bye.
