00:37and around the world to see the shows last night.
00:40It's not just the end of Colbert's run,
00:42it's the end of The Late Show itself,
00:45closing the curtain after nearly 33 years on the air.
00:48Paramount says budget concerns
00:50drove the decision to end the franchise,
00:52but some fans have questioned the timing.
00:55When Colbert learned his show was being canceled last year,
00:58Paramount was also seeking approval from the Trump administration
01:01for a major media merger.
01:03President Trump celebrated the finale online,
01:06writing,
01:07Thank goodness he's finally gone.
01:09Colbert did not respond to the president during his sign-off,
01:12instead using his final moments to thank his audience
