00:00You can expect more of that next year.
00:09Jon Stewart will reportedly remain at The Daily Show through 2026,
00:14Paramount Skydance making the announcement Monday.
00:19The company said Stewart will continue his role as host and one of the executive producers of the show
00:25through December of next year.
00:27But the announcement didn't come as a shock.
00:30As he told The New Yorker's David Remnick last month, plans were in the works for his return.
00:36Your contract comes up in December.
00:38You're going to sign another one?
00:41I mean, we're working on staying.
00:45Stewart currently hosts the show on Mondays.
00:47He signed a one-year contract in February 2024 to return to the show he anchored for nearly two decades.
00:55The Daily Show has seen success in ratings since Stewart's return to the desk,
01:00receiving its most Emmy nominations ever this year, smashing its previous record.
01:05Despite the success, there was speculation about the show's future after Comedy Central's parent company,
01:11Paramount, merged with Skydance and after Paramount decided to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,
01:17which Stewart is an executive producer for.
01:20It led to this response from Stewart on The Daily Show earlier this year.
01:24You're afraid, and you protect your bottom line.
01:28I've got but one thing to say, just one little phrase.
01:37Go f*** yourself!
01:38But speculation over the show's future now appears to have died down with the latest announcement.
01:44The head of Comedy Central releasing this statement in response to Stewart's renewed contract,
01:48saying,
01:49The renewal is a win for audiences, Comedy Central, and for all our programming partners.
