The prestigious National Police Dog Trials brought together the very best police dog handlers and their canine companions, with thousands flocking to Nostell for the competition's final stages.

00:00West Yorkshire Police hosted the 64th National Police Dog Trials,
00:04bringing together the very best police dog handlers and their canine companions from across the UK to show their skills.
00:11The prestigious event saw thousands of people flock to Nostal for a free family day,
00:16to watch the final stages of the competition and enjoy a range of demonstrations and activities.
00:22A total of 21 police dogs from forces across the country took part in the trials,
00:27competing in a series of challenging disciplines designed to test their operational capabilities.
00:33These included tracking suspects using scent, searching buildings and open areas,
00:39and criminal work phases involving suspect apprehension, obedience and agility.
00:44The final day attracted large crowds,
00:47with visitors able to see the incredible ability, control and partnership between the dogs and their handlers for themselves.
00:53Alongside the competition, attendees enjoyed demonstrations from police dogs,
00:58the mounted unit and other specialist departments from across the force.
01:02The overall winners of the event were PC Magnus McGarry and PD Kim of Police Scotland.
01:08The trials not only highlighted the operational excellence of police dog units,
01:12but also reinforced their importance in modern policing,
01:15from locating missing persons to apprehending offenders and recovering evidence.
