How Oppo Quietly Outsold Samsung and Apple in Smartphones!
Transcript
00:00I think we can all agree that in the mobile phone market right now, there are two big giants,
00:05Samsung and Apple, but what if I told you there was another company out there that sold more
00:09phones than both of these combined? That's right. And today we're gonna be talking about this mystery
00:16smartphone brand and how they did it. Now, before we get into the Oppo story, make sure you hit that
00:22like button so you don't miss any future videos from us. Also make sure to stick around until the
00:27end because we have a huge announcement coming up. So back to Oppo. Did you know that Oppo is
00:33actually one of the oldest smartphone companies out there? In fact, they've been around since 1971.
00:39That's 52 years ago. However, it wasn't until 2004 that they released their first smartphone.
00:46This was the smartphone that really kicked off the whole Oppo craze and made them the massive success
00:52that they are today. However, that wasn't the only thing that happened in 2004. You see, also in 2004,
01:00a man by the name of Tony Fadale created a little device called the iPod. He took it over to
01:06Steve
01:06Jobs who loved the idea and brought it to Apple where it became an iconic product that helped shape
01:12the future of technology forever. This is interesting because Oppo's first ever smartphone was actually
01:18called the iPod. As you might expect, Apple demanded that Oppo change the name of its product.
01:24So Oppo had to come up with something else. They ended up going with the name Find. It said that
01:31they
01:31wanted to capture the essence of what the device was meant to do. You see, smartphones were very expensive
01:37at the time. The average price of a smartphone was somewhere around $800. That is almost double the
01:45price of an iPhone today. This made it so that not many people could afford them.
