00:00Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has constituted a commission to probe corruption and atrocities against women after 2021.
00:07Commission constituted under former judge Sampati Chatterjee as Chairman and Police Officer Damyanti Sen as member of the commission.
00:14So this is the latest news that we have.
00:16Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari constituting commission to probe corruption and atrocities against women after 2021.
00:23This is important. Remember we had post-poll violence in the previous elections that had happened.
00:28And therefore during the tenure of the TMC, what happened, how were people treated, especially women and is this commission
00:37to probe corruption and atrocities against women?
00:40Is it of political nature, institutional? We'll try and get more details on that.
00:45My colleague Anupam Mishra will be joining me shortly on this.
00:48But for now I can tell you Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari has this to say.
01:49My colleague Anupam Mishra joins me.
01:51For the latest, Anupam, what precisely do you think is the strategy and reasoning by the Chief Minister to specifically
01:58have these commissions for atrocities against women, corruption after 2021?
02:05Well, you know, BJP had promised ahead of elections two big major promises were made.
02:11One was they will probe the corruption charges, the scams under the Mamata regime that has been promised during the
02:19election campaign a few days back.
02:21And the second major promise was that they will also probe the atrocities against women, specifically after 2021.
02:30And you know that BJP had alleged that their workers have been raped and they have been harassed sexually.
02:38So these were the large-scale allegations made by the BJP during the election campaigns.
02:44And that is what BJP is doing right now.
02:47They have promised that if they come into power, they'll probe these allegations.
02:52And right now they have constituted two commissions.
02:54One commission will probe the institutional corruption, specifically regarding the Midday Meal and other Pradhan Mantri, Awas Yojana,
03:05or other corruption charges which they were labelling against Mamata regime.
03:11And the second commission will probe the atrocities against women.
03:15So these commissions are basically the promises made by BJP during the election campaign.
03:22And they have fulfilled their promise.
03:24And they have not only constituted these commissions.
03:27Shubindu Hadhikari has specifically said that during the investigation,
03:32if someone found guilty, they will take stern action against him.
03:37And they will also try to recover the money which they have siphoned off during those scams.
03:43Anupam, also tell me, do you think that this is going to be another political fight?
03:47Has the TMC said anything about it?
03:49Do you think that this is, already we have seen three IPS officers who have been suspended in the RG
03:54car case.
03:55Do you see this turning political?
03:56How do you think the government intends to go about it?
04:01Well, you know, we are witnessing a series of instructions, a series of decisions by Shubindu Sarkar, Shubindu Government.
04:09And within a few days, they have taken several decisions.
04:13And these are the decisions, basically, the promises made during the election campaign
04:19and in the manifesto issued by BJP.
04:22So, TMC has already started saying that they are taking revenge against TMC, specifically against TMC leaders.
04:32You know, Mamata Banerjee had yesterday tweeted about the bulldozer action there.
04:36She had criticized the bulldozer action.
04:39So, there is a kind of face-off started between BJP and TMC over this issue.
04:45But I think BJP will continue to operate like this.
04:51They will take decisions.
04:53They will have to take decisions because these are the things which they have promised during the manifesto and during
04:58the election campaign.
04:59So, they will have to take these decisions.
05:01And these are the decisions which are basically in their manifesto.
05:05Thank you very much for now, Anupam Mishra, telling us.
05:07As manifesto's promises are starting to be fulfilled by the new, now, BJP government in Bengal.
05:13Thank you very much.
