00:00We're getting details now of the swearing-in ceremony in Bengal.
00:04While here the speculation in Tamil Nadu is that the swearing-in ceremony will happen tomorrow,
00:08in Bengal in all likelihood it will be happening on 9th May.
00:12And the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10am at the Brigade Parade Ground.
00:17That's the details coming in.
00:19Remember, this is going to be a historic swearing-in ceremony
00:21because for the first time in Bengal, you've got a BJP government that's come to power
00:26and with a massive mandate from the people of Bengal,
00:30you've got now the BJP set for that historic swearing-in ceremony.
00:34We're still awaiting details on whether the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah and the likes
00:38will be there for the swearing-in ceremony.
00:40But usually the BJP ensures that it's a big show of strength
00:43with NDA chief ministers all in attendance.
00:47But mind you, while the BJP is bracing and getting set for the swearing-in ceremony,
00:52Mamata Banerjee is yet to resign.
00:55She said very clearly that this is a mandate that was stolen by the BJP
01:00and so she's refused to step down, she's refused to resign.
01:04What really happens in such a case?
01:06Well, in all likelihood a government will be dissolved.
01:09But it does add to the complications in Bengal.
01:12Mind you, in Tamil Nadu too, it was an opposition party, the DMK that was in power.
01:17But Stalin immediately stepped down, said,
01:19I respect the people's mandate, the people's verdict.
01:21In the case of Bengal, that's not happening.
01:24Anupam Mishra is joining us with more details.
01:26So on this news break, Anupam, what are you hearing about the swearing-in ceremony?
01:29What are the details we've been able to pick up?
01:45Okay, my apologies.
01:46We're going to connect with Anupam Mishra in just a bit.
01:49We understand that the meeting of the Legislative Party will happen on May 8th.
01:53That's when, on May 8th, therefore, is the day we will know who is the BJP's pick for Chief Minister.
02:00Remember that right now observers have been appointed, including Home Minister Amit Shah,
02:04as an observer for Bengal.
02:05And that's how much importance BJP is really giving to Bengal,
02:08that Home Minister Amit Shah will directly be involved in choosing who the Legislative Party leader is.
02:14That essentially translates to who will be the Chief Minister of Bengal.
02:19So that name is expected on May 8th.
02:22That's when, in fact, the Legislative Party meet will take place.
02:25The BJP will declare this person is our face.
02:29There are several names, of course, doing the rounds right now.
02:32The two-time giant slayer, Shamit Bhattacharya, who is currently the Bengal BJP Chief.
02:39Dilip Ghosh, the former Bengal BJP Chief, all their names right now are doing the rounds.
02:44I'll bring in Anupam Mishra once again for those details.
02:47Anupam, take it away.
02:48Tell us all about the swearing-in ceremony.
02:51Well, you know, the time and date has been fixed.
02:54It will be happening at the iconic Brigade Parade round in the heart of the city
03:00at around 10 a.m. in the morning on 9th of May.
03:03That is what we have been told by BJP senior leaders.
03:07And the Legislative Party meeting will be held on 8th May,
03:11that is one day prior, in Vishu Bangla Centre in Newtown.
03:15That is what we are hearing from the senior leaders of the BJP.
03:20This has been fixed from the BJP party at a senior level.
03:30All right, Anupam.
03:31Thanks very much for those details.
