Parenting nowadays is very challenging and often incredibly stressful due to long working hours, busy schedules and information overload that we all must navigate. All this commotion leaves parents with very little time, very little emotional energy and very little physical strength to engage with their child. As a result, parents end up using smartphones and technological gadgets to distract, occupy and reward their child and this seemingly benign move has significant ramifications for child and adolescent mental health.

Hi! This is Pulkit Sharma. I'm a clinical psychologist, psychoanalytic therapist, spiritual counselor and an author based in Pondicherry, India. I'm also a father of a wonderful preteen daughter. I've been practicing psychotherapy for over two decades. In this video, I elucidate how smartphones, technological gadgets and AI are redefining parent-child bond and influencing the mental health of children and adolescents in modern times.
