02:51Kelly covering Tamina one more time give it up for Kelly and her band y'all
02:59Okay, it's time to meet our first guest.
03:02You saw him on Broadway in Spamalot,
03:04Once Upon a Mattress, and Oh Mary.
03:07You saw him on TV in Ugly Betty,
03:09and you can see him now in the series Shrinking,
03:12a role for which he won a Critics' Choice Award.
03:15The new season is out now on Apple TV.
03:20Newsflash.
03:21We are all already selfish people.
03:24Ba-ba-ba-ba.
03:26Yeah.
03:27Even Mother Teresa was selfish.
03:30She only helped others,
03:33because it's what brought her the most joy.
03:37The point is, Mother Teresa and I are the same.
03:41Whatever makes me happiest, I f***ing go for it,
03:44just like that crazy nun.
03:45If I want to eat something, I eat it.
03:47If I want to buy something, I buy it.
03:48If I want to have sex with a hot stranger,
03:50actually, I don't do that anymore.
03:52And I imagine neither does Mother Teresa.
03:55Please welcome Michael Urie!
04:20It's so good to see you.
04:21You too, my friend.
04:22So nice to see you.
04:23And I hear...
04:24I love your beard.
04:26I appreciate it.
04:27It's very sexy.
04:28You've been doing some major adulting.
04:31You just bought a house,
04:33and you got your first colonoscopy.
04:36Am I right?
04:38Yes, that is true.
04:39I got my first colonoscopy right before they gave me the propofol.
04:43Yes.
04:43The doctor said,
04:44by the way, I love shrinking.
04:46Wow.
04:47Which is great.
04:47And then today, I had my very first stress test,
04:50where you have to get on a treadmill.
04:51Yes, right.
04:52And, you know, you have to take your shirt off,
04:54and they put all these things on you.
04:56And I was there,
04:57and there were people coming in and out.
04:58Very, very sterile environment.
05:00Nobody saw me on shrinking.
05:02And they're like asking me all these questions.
05:05Did you eat today?
05:06Did you have caffeine today?
05:07And then she said,
05:08I'm sitting there shirtless.
05:09And she goes,
05:10Do you work out?
05:11And I was like,
05:13Damn it.
05:14Yeah, honestly.
05:15Obviously, I do.
05:16Honestly, yes.
05:17But she couldn't tell.
05:19Wow.
05:19That's rough.
05:21Congratulations on shrinking.
05:23What a massive hit.
05:24Just got picked up for season four.
05:28And your character had a big, big season.
05:31Yes.
05:32Well, my character is arguably
05:33the least mature character on the show.
05:35Okay.
05:36And I have now become a father on the show.
05:38Perfect.
05:39So he's a baby with a baby.
05:40Yes.
05:41And I spent a lot of time in season three
05:43acting with a baby.
05:44Yes.
05:45And I'm not a parent.
05:46Yes.
05:46So I don't, I don't, I don't, I'm an uncle.
05:49So I have, you know, they hand me the baby.
05:51And when the baby starts crying,
05:52I hand it back.
05:54Well, that's actually kind of optimal.
05:56Yeah.
05:56Fantastic.
05:57But acting with a baby is even better
06:00because when the baby starts crying,
06:01you hand it back and they leave.
06:03Right.
06:04And then come back with a brand new baby.
06:06That's amazing.
06:08That's not crying.
06:09So I loved acting with a baby.
06:11They say not to, but I actually quite,
06:13I quite liked acting with them.
06:14Talk to me about acting with Harrison Ford.
06:17The best.
06:18Yeah.
06:18Yeah.
06:18He's awesome.
06:19He's, he's, he loves work.
06:21He loves to act.
06:22He loves to make people laugh.
06:24He loves the crew.
06:26Were you a Star Wars fan?
06:27Oh, yeah.
06:28I mean, so when, when you're sitting there acting,
06:30I mean, are you ever like?
06:31Sure.
06:32Oh, yeah.
06:32Yeah.
06:32Sure.
06:33You're like, and, and, and you don't want to be that guy
06:35that's like, tell me about the planet Hoth, you know,
06:39even though I could ask very specific questions.
06:41Yes.
06:42Like that.
06:42Yeah.
06:43You don't want to be that guy.
06:44So I usually try to like, my gateway is usually like,
06:46working girl.
06:47Let's talk about working girl.
06:48All right.
06:48Okay.
06:49Or, you know, like one of his lesser iconic films,
06:52although that is very iconic.
06:54I was going to say.
06:55Yes.
06:55It's gay canon.
06:56Yeah, it is.
06:57Yes.
06:58But he, he, he, he loves, he loves the crew.
07:02He loves, you know, he has a relationship with,
07:05with everyone on set.
07:07Yeah.
07:07And he's always trying to make everybody laugh.
07:09Yeah.
07:09So you got to do a little Les Mis sing-off with Jason Segel.
07:14Uh, this season.
07:15That must have been highly fun.
07:18So, yeah.
07:19So, so they had this idea that Jason and I would,
07:21had like always sung Les Mis together.
07:25And that we would do it in the car with Harrison in the back seat.
07:28Okay.
07:29And they told us we were going to do it.
07:31And it's the song, The Confrontation.
07:33It's called The Confrontation from Les Mis.
07:35Okay.
07:35And it's where Javert and Valjean face off.
07:38Okay.
07:38And they sing at the-
07:38Kind of a B-side.
07:41It might be, yeah, it might be some, some might skip it.
07:44Okay.
07:44But I don't think you should.
07:45No.
07:46Um, Les Mis has no skips as far as I'm concerned.
07:48But, um, they sing at the same time.
07:51So it's really tricky.
07:51It's really complicated.
07:52Right.
07:53Uh, and, and,
07:54and I already knew it.
07:56And Jason already knew it when they had the idea to have us do it.
07:58And, and so we didn't tell Harrison what we were going to do.
08:02Uh-huh.
08:03In the script, it just said that we sing The Confrontation from Les Mis.
08:06But he doesn't know what that means.
08:07Right.
08:08And we got, we're like driving around Pasadena and we start to do it.
08:12And he literally had no idea what we were going to do.
08:14And you could see in the, in the, like, all of his reactions are completely genuine.
08:19That's great.
08:20He's like, he's like confused.
08:22He's touched.
08:23He's delighted.
08:24He's afraid.
08:25Right.
08:26As one might be.
08:28As one might be.
08:28I love it that Jason Segel already knew the song too.
08:30Yeah.
08:30I mean, that's kind of amazing.
08:32I know.
08:32All right.
08:33We need to take a, uh, couple commercials, but we have someone in the audience to take
08:37us there.
08:38Where's Timmy?
08:39Hi, Andy.
08:40Hi, Michael.
08:41I'm Timmy.
08:41Both of you are such incredible icons for the queer community just by being you and doing
08:46what you love.
08:47How great is that?
08:50Stay here.
08:51Andy has more with Michael after this.
09:05We are back with Michael Urie from Shrinking and I'm Andy Cohen, your guest host for today.
09:13Um, we were talking about being intimidated working with Harrison Ford.
09:17Yeah.
09:17But talk to me about working with Vanessa Williams because you two co-starred together and she's
09:22a commanding force.
09:24Well, yes.
09:25Uh, I was her assistant on Ugly Betty and when I, the day before my first day, they hadn't
09:32cast her yet.
09:33I was cast first randomly and the day before, but by the way, that was 20 years ago.
09:38We shot the pilot of Ugly Betty.
09:40Seems impossible.
09:40And we were, um, we, it was the day before and the assistant director called to tell me
09:46that I would be shooting the next day and I was like, okay.
09:49And he was like, you'll be, you'll, this is where you'll, you'll, you'll meet the van
09:52and this is where we're shooting and these are the scenes we're shooting and you'll be
09:55shooting your scenes with, uh, Wilhelmina Slater played by Vanessa Williams.
10:01And I swear the first day D became an announcer, like for a second, all of a sudden he was
10:07introducing her on the Kelly Clarkson show.
10:09Yes.
10:09Yes.
10:09It was, and I was like, what, uh, who?
10:11Yeah.
10:12And I had no idea I'd be working with her and it's like hours away and I was so nervous
10:17and so, and I, of course I knew her music and I had seen her in movies and stuff, but
10:21I didn't know what she was like.
10:23And, uh, from the moment we started working together, she was the greatest.
10:30Yeah.
10:30What did you learn from her?
10:31Oh, I learned.
10:32Look back on it.
10:32I learned how to walk a red carpet.
10:34Okay.
10:34I learned how to take a photo.
10:35Really?
10:35I learned about what.
10:36How did she teach you how to take a photo?
10:38Oh, she, she, she, well, it was always like the side.
10:40Okay.
10:41You know, make sure you give side, give side.
10:43Right.
10:44Is there like a shrug?
10:45There's like a, this thing that she does.
10:47Okay.
10:47It's really amazing.
10:48Okay.
10:48Just like makes you seem like you're nothing.
10:50Right.
10:51Okay.
10:52Right.
10:52And then, and then she would teach us about like, she, she would, she was really good
10:56about like, don't stay forever when they're taking your photo.
10:59Yes.
11:00Because they'll take your photo forever.
11:02She's like, keep moving.
11:03Keep it moving.
11:04Yes.
11:04And, and always be, always be gracious.
11:06That was something else.
11:07Yes.
11:08She's the best.
11:09And she, and, and I, so I did so many interviews with her and so many, and I just, I
11:13just, she just won the Stephen Sondheim award at the signature theater in Washington, D.C.
11:18Wow.
11:19And I was there for that and got to, and she's starring on, um, the West End and the devil
11:24wears part.
11:24She's the greatest.
11:25Yes.
11:26I know before ugly Betty, you were really trying to make it and it was rough.
11:31What were some jobs that you were doing then?
11:33Um, I worked at, uh, Barnes and Noble.
11:36Okay.
11:37Which is cool.
11:37I worked at a bowling alley.
11:39Okay.
11:39Um, what did you do at the bowling alley?
11:42I was a party host.
11:44Oh, well.
11:44So whenever they would have birthday parties for the little kids.
11:47Yes.
11:47Wow.
11:47I would, uh, which is basically one step above clown.
11:50Yes.
11:51Um, and.
11:52Now I understand why you don't have kids now.
11:54Yeah.
11:55But the, the coolest part about working at a bowling alley is if the ball didn't make
12:01it all the way or got stuck somehow.
12:03Yes.
12:03Or, or if like a pin didn't get swept up, they call that a dead ball or a dead wood.
12:08Okay.
12:09And you, you got to walk down and get it.
12:13Wow.
12:14So you could walk down in the gutter, you know, in the gutters and r, r, you know.
12:20Wow.
12:20You do a gutter walk in front of everybody.
12:22It's so fun.
12:23It was so fun to walk down there.
12:25That was my favorite part.
12:26Next to a walk of shame kind of in a weird way.
12:29Um, you won a national debate performance in high school.
12:33I read.
12:34I was the national, yes.
12:36Wow.
12:36I was the national champion in dramatic interpretation my senior year in high school.
12:41And that's like, um, it's like acting kind of, but you can play multiple characters.
12:47Uh, the one I did was, uh, based on a one man, it was a cut from a one man
12:51play about Tennessee
12:53Williams.
12:53Mm.
12:54And, uh, you're from St. Louis, right?
12:56I am.
12:56Okay.
12:56So it was in St. Louis.
12:58Okay.
12:58Love it.
12:59And I don't know if you know this.
13:01Yes.
13:02But my, uh, my, my amazing coach, my speech coach, Karen Wilbanks, who I'm still friends
13:08with to this day, she went on, this is circa 1998, she went on findagrave.com and learned
13:16that Tennessee Williams is buried in St. Louis.
13:20I did not know that.
13:21So we visited the grave of Tennessee Williams.
13:23I am going to go on findagrave.com tonight and fish around.
13:30Find, find, that's find your favorite.
13:31I want to find some people that I love, you know?
13:34Yeah, it was wild.
13:35Some stars.
13:35And so I kind of felt like he was with me that, that week for that conference, for that
13:40speech tournament.
13:41Yes.
13:41And, uh, and I won.
13:43It was great.
13:44Well, I am, um, I'm really impressed because you're always working and you always, you
13:49know, with as many shows as you have on television, you do always go back to the theater.
13:55Yeah.
13:55That's really important to you.
13:56I mean, that's really seems like your first kind of love, right?
14:00Totally.
14:00Why?
14:01There's something about having an audience.
14:03It's so, it's so immediate and visceral.
14:06And, and when you're doing theater, it really is what you're seeing that night will not be
14:11the same the next night.
14:12Right.
14:12It'll be different.
14:13And, and the, the audience is always the, the last character.
14:18Mm-hmm.
14:18And it's, it's a truly special experience.
14:23And, and, and when you, you know, like you go home after the show that night and you think,
14:26oh, wait a minute, I could do this instead.
14:28And then the next night you get to do it, you get to do it again.
14:30Right.
14:30Before I let you go, uh, you gotta tell me about, you're in something with the great
14:35Patti LuPone coming up.
14:37Yeah.
14:38What is it?
14:38We're in Elsbeth.
14:39We're in the season finale of Elsbeth.
14:41On CBS.
14:42On CBS, Carrie Preston.
14:43Yes.
14:44This fabulous show.
14:45And, uh, I've worked with, but I've worked with Patti quite a few times.
14:49Yes.
14:49She was my mom on Ugly Betty.
14:51Wow.
14:51Back in the day.
14:52Wow.
14:53And then, um, we did a play together off Broadway.
14:57Um, and so, so I, I've, I'm a lucky actor.
15:01I get to, I've gotten to work with Patti many times.
15:03Yes.
15:04Yes.
15:04The play I was in, do you remember hearing about, uh, Patti LuPone snatching a cell phone
15:09out of an audience member?
15:10Yes, you were in that play.
15:11Were you on stage when she did that?
15:12I was literally there.
15:13Come on.
15:13When it happened.
15:15No.
15:15I watched her.
15:16It had been something that like, it was, it was festering.
15:19It was festering.
15:20Yes.
15:20Because the woman was on her phone the whole show.
15:22Oh boy.
15:23And you know, Patti LuPone does not like that.
15:25No, she does not.
15:26I mean, nobody likes that.
15:26She also has no left to give.
15:28She has no left to give.
15:29Yeah.
15:29And, and it was, it was a thrust.
15:32So there was audience kind of surrounding us a little bit.
15:34Yes.
15:35And so we could really see her.
15:37Yes.
15:37We could really tell she was on her phone.
15:38And when the second act started, she, because it was an intermission, everyone's backstage
15:42like, can you believe that woman?
15:43I can't believe she's on her phone this whole time.
15:45And act two started and there she was still on her phone.
15:49And Patti had an exit early in the second act right past her.
15:53And I watched it.
15:55I watched her go and I watched her mind sort of change.
15:58Oh boy.
15:59Channel in.
15:59Oh boy.
16:00And she reached over.
16:01And it wasn't like, she went boop.
16:02She like grabbed it.
16:05She made sure she left with that phone.
16:09Theater history, everyone.
16:10It's the best.
16:10We got to take a short break.
16:13The third season of Michael's show, Shrinking, is out now.
16:17Watch it on Apple TV.
16:19We are going to be right back with actress and dancer, Maddie Ziegler.
16:33Welcome back to The Kelly Clarkson Show.
16:35I'm your guest host, Andy Cohen.
16:36Our next guest began her career as a dancer before going on to being named to Forbes 30 under 30
16:44list, as well as becoming a New York Times bestselling author.
16:47With her memoir, you've seen her in films like My Old Ass and Steven Spielberg's West Side Story.
16:54Her new film is called Pretty Lethal.
16:57It's out now on Prime Video.
17:01There's two of them.
17:04I don't want to die.
17:06I think we can take them.
17:08Take them.
17:09Are you nuts?
17:11No, seriously.
17:13I am not strong enough.
17:15I am enough.
17:17I've seen you dance.
17:19People assume we're these delicate, fresh little things, but we're not.
17:22We perform sick, hurt, and on bleeding feet, all keeping a smile on her face.
17:26So don't tell me you're not strong, okay?
17:32Say hi to Maddie Ziegler!
17:47How's it going?
17:48It's going great.
17:49How are you?
17:49I'm great.
17:51That looks great.
17:51Tell me what it's about.
17:53This has been like my favorite experience, so I get so excited talking about this.
17:57Okay.
17:57This film...
17:58Wow, this has been your favorite?
17:59Yeah, I think so, so far.
18:01Wow.
18:01I've had a lot of good experiences.
18:03I was going to say, you've had an incredible run.
18:06But yes, this film follows five ballerinas, and we get the opportunity to perform in a showcase in Budapest.
18:12And when we get there, our bus breaks down, and we have to find shelter.
18:17So we find a remote inn, and we find Uma Thurman, who plays our villain.
18:23And yeah, basically something goes down, and we have to find our way to survive and get out.
18:30Well, so dance is kind of used as a weapon in the film.
18:34Yes, yes.
18:34Had you ever thought of dance in that way?
18:37I mean, dance is the greatest superpower.
18:39Uh-huh.
18:39So it weirdly really works together.
18:41What was really cool is we found a new style, because, like, ballet and action, we're like,
18:45how does that work?
18:46Right.
18:46But we ended up...
18:47Bad action.
18:48Yeah, exactly.
18:48Well, we call it ballet-foo.
18:50Okay.
18:50Yeah.
18:50So it's been a fun term that we've come up with to sort of...
18:54Because, like, realistically, five dancers, five ballerinas in a remote inn with all these
18:59big, strong Hungarian men, the odds are not great for us.
19:04So we basically use our strengths, which is our, like, our sort of, like, cat-like reflexes,
19:10our fluidity, our movement.
19:12We're very agile and quick.
19:13So we, like, fight in our own way.
19:16You so seamlessly made the move into films.
19:19Was there a film that showcased dance that made you want to get into movies?
19:25I mean, there's so many.
19:26Yeah.
19:26Obviously, like, I look at, like, Center Stage and Black Swan and all these films, but,
19:30like, honestly, and I'm not...
19:31I'm truly, like, meaning this, Kill Bill was the hugest, like, reference for our film,
19:36and that was prior to Uma signing on.
19:38And do we see Uma doing stunts in this as well?
19:43She is a little something-something.
19:45Uh-huh.
19:45Yeah, but...
19:46I love Kill Bill.
19:47It's one of the greatest.
19:48And she's...
19:49She's incredible.
19:49She's the reference.
19:51Yes.
19:51And we just could not believe it when she signed on to the project.
19:55And she said, you know, like, she had so much fun.
19:58And I think she mentioned that it was, like, one of her favorite things she's done since
20:01Kill Bill.
20:01So I'm, like, so honored to have been a part of that with her.
20:05Yeah.
20:05I remember watching you, obviously, dancing as a kid, but how long exactly have you been
20:12dancing?
20:12How long has dance been in your life?
20:13I started ballet when I was two.
20:16Wow.
20:16So I actually don't know my life without it.
20:18But how did you...
20:19How...
20:20That is so cute.
20:21Oh, I can't handle that.
20:22Oh, my God.
20:22My form is, like, terrible, but...
20:24Oh, my God.
20:25Oh, I cannot handle this.
20:26Like, way too much makeup.
20:28I was just gonna say, your beat is very intense.
20:30It's crazy.
20:31I wear more makeup then than I do now.
20:34Well, clearly.
20:35Yeah.
20:35I see that.
20:36Yeah.
20:36I mean, that is crazy.
20:38No.
20:38It's so funny, because I don't remember that time specifically, of course, but, like,
20:43my mom told me that the first time I did the Nutcracker, I came off stage, and I was
20:47crying, apparently, because I just wanted to go back on stage.
20:49Wow.
20:50So it's been, like, my only option.
20:52So as much as you wanted that, and as much as you were amazing at it, and you pursued
20:56your passion, when you look back on your childhood, what do you... do you look back on anything
21:02with regret as something that you missed out on?
21:05Honestly?
21:06Not really.
21:07Like, I became homeschooled in fifth grade.
21:09Yeah.
21:09It's, like, the little things.
21:10Like, I did this film where I got to have a locker, and I was, like, so excited to have
21:14a locker, which was, like, so embarrassing.
21:16No, it's sweet.
21:16But, you know, like, the little things that I didn't really get to experience.
21:19Yes.
21:19The normal things, kind of.
21:20Yeah.
21:21But for the most part, like, I didn't, I don't feel, like, weird that I didn't, I
21:25didn't go to prom or, like, homecoming.
21:27Like, I was, I performed at the Grammys whenever, you know, like, it was cool.
21:30Like, I got to...
21:31Relatable queen.
21:32Yeah.
21:32No, I'm just, I'm so, I'm so grateful for, like, my life, and I wouldn't have it any other
21:37way.
21:37That's great.
21:39So, I mean, you seem incredibly versatile.
21:42You kill it in everything you do.
21:45What are you, what haven't you done that you're like, this is maybe next for me?
21:49I think, like, just coming off of the height of this film, I would love to do, like, a
21:53full-blown female assassin role.
21:55I think that would be really fun.
21:57All right.
21:57Yes.
21:58Yeah.
21:58Yeah.
21:59Oh, thank you.
21:59That's great.
22:00Yeah.
22:00Well, you are lovely.
22:02And I'm really excited to see the film.
22:04We have to stop for a commercial break.
22:05Pretty Lethal is streaming now on Prime Video.
22:09And we are giving away some trips with The Travel Mom next.
22:13We're going to be right back.
22:24All right.
22:25We are back.
22:26And I'm Andy Cohen sitting in for Kelly this hour.
22:28I'm excited about this.
22:29Summer's a little over a month away.
22:32And if you're thinking about planning an island vacation, just wait for what our next guest
22:37has in store.
22:38Let's welcome back the travel mom herself, Emily Kaufman.
22:42Hey, Emily.
22:42What are you doing, Andy?
22:45Okay.
22:45Now, it's not just summer that's coming up, right?
22:48No.
22:49Summer, the official travel kickoff is just a few weeks away.
22:53Okay.
22:53But it's also Caribbean Heritage Month in June.
22:57And I've got some terrific places to send you in that region so you can experience the
23:04Caribbean yourselves.
23:06Okay.
23:06Now, what's first?
23:07Well, let's start with an island country that I love, Barbados.
23:11Yes.
23:12It is so rich in history.
23:14The people are warm and friendly.
23:17It's a beautiful country to visit.
23:20The Caribbean Ocean is so inviting.
23:23And I had the opportunity to go on a snorkel sail trip while I was there on a catamaran.
23:29And I had a blast.
23:32I also didn't know this, but they have a cave there called Harrison Cave.
23:36You can go into the cave and explore and learn so much about that.
23:40And the best way to visit a place like Barbados is to stay at an all-inclusive resort.
23:45For real?
23:45Because for one price, you get your meals, your accommodations, your beverages, alcoholic
23:50or non-alcoholic, lots of activities.
23:52I can't say enough good stuff about Barbados.
23:54So, audience, anyone ready to discover Barbados?
24:02All right.
24:05Okay.
24:07Chill out.
24:10Here's what we have lined up for one audience member.
24:13It is a four-night tropical escape to Barbados for two.
24:17You're going to stay in a two-bedroom suite at Seabreeze Beach House, a boutique all-inclusive resort
24:24set along 1,000 feet of white sand beach.
24:28You get to enjoy beautiful ocean views, three pools, complimentary water sports, and a relaxed island atmosphere.
24:35Now, here's how this is going to work, audience.
24:38The cameras are going to pan across you, but also keep an eye out on the monitor behind me.
24:44When we lock in on one of you, you are getting the vacation.
24:51Okay.
24:52Joe Terry, let's go.
24:53Let's go.
24:54Audience, look alive.
25:05Let's go.
25:08All right.
25:09Oh!
25:21What's your name?
25:22I'm Donnie.
25:23Donnie?
25:24Have you ever been to Barbados?
25:25I have not.
25:26Who are you going to take?
25:28A wonderful question.
25:29Whoever's watching this.
25:32How exciting.
25:33So exciting.
25:34Are you glad you came today?
25:35Thrilled.
25:36I can't wait to see your pictures from Barbados.
25:39Tag us all, okay?
25:41All right, enjoy.
25:45Okay.
25:48Travel mom, that's not all, right?
25:51No, that's not all.
25:52Okay, what's next?
25:53Okay, so the next thing I want to talk about
25:57has a lot of the qualities that you embody.
26:00Okay.
26:01Sexy.
26:02Yes.
26:02Chic.
26:03Yes.
26:04Sophisticated yet approachable.
26:05Yeah.
26:06I'm talking about Celebrity Cruises.
26:08Because Celebrity Cruises has nine ships
26:12that sail through the Caribbean.
26:14Yes, they do.
26:14And their ships are known for having amazing pool areas.
26:18Yep.
26:19So if you want to go and just chill
26:20and have a drink by the pool, you can do that.
26:22Yep.
26:22If you want to experience being out on the deck, on the sea,
26:26that feels so good and so relaxing.
26:28Nothing like being on a boat.
26:29Absolutely.
26:30And you're island hopping the whole time, right?
26:32You are magically transported to different destinations
26:35while you sleep, which is one of the things I love
26:37about a cruise vacation.
26:38The dining on Celebrity Cruises is outstanding.
26:41The artwork is fantastic as well.
26:43You only pack and unpack one time.
26:46You get your meals, your accommodations,
26:47your activities, and your transportation.
26:50Celebrity Cruises does it like nobody else.
26:53Anyone want to go cruising through the Caribbean?
27:01Okay.
27:05Bring it down, friends.
27:07Because I want to tell you about this unforgettable Caribbean escape
27:11with Celebrity Cruises.
27:13It's a unique premium vacation offering the intimate feel and service
27:17of small ships with all the variety and excitement of larger ones
27:20with endless ways to restore and explore on board and off.
27:26I'm talking breathtaking beaches and natural wonders on land
27:30with unparalleled dining and entertainment
27:32while you sail the seas.
27:35Okay, Joe Terry, hit it!
27:50Oh!
28:01Yes!
28:03Wow!
28:05What's your name?
28:07Lisa Cohen Harmon.
28:09Who will you take on the cruise?
28:11Well, I have my son, Jared.
28:13I don't... I have a boyfriend,
28:15but I might take my son, Jared.
28:18But...
28:20This is such a special day.
28:22How exciting.
28:23It's unbelievable.
28:24Wow, my sister, Lisa Cohen, everybody.
28:26Not really...
28:27I wanted to say, I'm related.
28:29Thanks, Lisa. Congratulations.
28:31Thank you so much.
28:33That's exciting.
28:34Well, thanks, Emily.
28:36Be sure to follow Emily on Instagram,
28:38at theTravelMom.
28:39We're going to be right back.
28:40How exciting.
28:53Welcome back.
28:55Sometimes Kelly's interviews go longer than can fit in a single episode.
29:00You know, Adrian Brody holds the record for the longest Oscar acceptance speech ever.
29:05So, maybe it's not surprising that he had a lot to say on the couch a few months back.
29:10He and Kelly chatted about his work as a visual artist.
29:14He even showed some of his pieces and talked through his process.
29:18Now, we weren't able to show all of them in the original broadcast,
29:22but we do not want you to miss out.
29:25So, we're sharing more today.
29:27Watch.
29:28All right, let's look at one more.
29:30You're so good.
29:31Damn.
29:31Damn.
29:33No, it says time, not damn.
29:35Damn.
29:36No, you're so good.
29:38It says time and the flies under it.
29:41So, it says time flies.
29:42You are funny.
29:45Aww.
29:45Okay.
29:46And this is another photograph that my mother took of me on a rooftop in Brooklyn.
29:54And none of the stuff that's there was there, just me and a wall.
29:58And I'm on that brick wall.
30:00And so, that's a friend of, that's my friend's dog, Boss.
30:04So, I put Boss in there and Boss wasn't there on the day.
30:07And I have a graffiti can.
30:08I have a spray paint can in my hand that I've added.
30:11And the crow ominously watching.
30:13And that's Lea Seydoux, who was in the Grand Budapest inside that little box above my head.
30:19And then...
30:20I see magic up there, too.
30:21Houdini made it.
30:22There's some magic there.
30:23Yeah.
30:23And there's Basquiat's crown.
30:24I love little Basquiat for him.
30:26And then there's just all kinds of, kind of, graffiti stuff filling in.
30:30And the snake coming out of the shadows.
30:32And there's like a puddle on the floor.
30:34And the shadows coming from that.
30:35And I saw a snake image.
30:36And it's just a process of, like, enjoying the thing.
30:40But we ended up using this.
30:41My mom makes a Christmas card every year since I was a boy with me.
30:45This is your Christmas card?
30:47And this was the Christmas card.
30:48I love your family.
30:50Oh, my gosh.
30:51So, it was time flies for New Year's.
30:53Like, time flies.
30:54So, we were at a new year.
30:56Oh!
30:56So, your family is so much cooler than mine.
30:58It's fun now.
30:58Wow.
30:59You're welcome to come over.
31:00Our sweet.
31:01I'm like, we're the type to, like, make fun of the Olin Mills.
31:04You know, we'll do something stupid or whatever.
31:06But that's incredible.
31:07You're so talented.
31:09When you sit down to do something like this, because there's so many layers.
31:11There's so much storytelling.
31:13Do you have the...
31:13I know you started with, like, the image your mom, right, with this one.
31:16But, like, do you know it's going to end up being time flies?
31:19Do you know it's going to have all these things in the beginning?
31:21Or does it kind of happen whenever you're creating?
31:22So, in this case...
31:24No, not necessarily.
31:27I'll have, occasionally, an epiphany and go, ooh, that's great.
31:30And I'll either jot that down or I'll have something that associates one thought to another.
31:35I'll say, ooh, these...
31:35Marry these will be really interesting.
31:37But my mom will usually share with me towards Christmas, what do you think?
31:44We don't have a Christmas card.
31:45She'll be like, we don't have a Christmas card this year.
31:47And she'll be like, what about this one?
31:48What about this?
31:49And I saw this one and we started talking about it.
31:52And I thought, oh, this is a great blank wall.
31:54And I thought this would be awesome to put some graffiti thing.
31:57And then it just occurred to me and I said, ooh, we could do that.
31:59And I used flies in my art and pasted them.
32:03And so we did that.
32:05I didn't know.
32:05It's similar to writing a song, I feel like.
32:07Because it's like, you'll start, like maybe you're inspired because you're going through
32:10something and you start, then it ends up being something different.
32:13Yeah.
32:13Like you start layering and adding or whatever.
32:14I don't know if it's the same thing.
32:15Yeah.
32:16I wish I could do that.
32:17Getting into a studio is...
32:17Congratulations on being super talented.
32:19Yeah.
32:21You're so talented.
32:23It's...
32:24Not everybody can do that.
32:25It's an amazing, amazing gift.
32:27It's therapeutic.
32:28It has to be.
32:29It is therapeutic.
32:29And the reality is so, as I said, it was a kind of lifetime between getting a lot of recognition
32:35and then finding roles that really spoke to me.
32:39Yeah.
32:39And my whole life I was working professionally as an actor.
32:43And so my understanding of getting opportunities to be creative or have creative fulfillment was working.
32:49Mm-hmm.
32:49But then you can't just work and explore and try things that don't work because then you're
32:55knocked down because it is a business.
32:58Yeah.
32:58And so you have to find other things that feed that, that you have a bit more creative autonomy
33:03in that you can...
33:05I think that will inform, too, your decisions.
33:07Yes.
33:08And what it...
33:08I think being creative in any...
33:10Like whatever, if you're sculpting, if you're painting, if you're writing songs, if you're
33:13writing books, it all will play into what your future steps are.
33:16Sure.
33:16I think it'll...
33:17Yeah.
33:17I think that all kind of ends up lining up.
33:20Right now, you can see Adrian Brody and the Fear of 13 playing at the James Earl Jones
33:25Theatre right on Broadway.
33:27We are going to be right back, guys.
33:41Welcome back.
33:42I'm Andy Cohen, guest hosting for Kelly today.
33:44And we want to keep giving you your Kelly fix with another previously unseen interview.
33:49This goes back to when Jack Whitehall and Kiki Palmer were here promoting their Peacock
33:55series, The Burbs.
33:57Jack's not just a funny actor.
33:59He's a talented stand-up comedian.
34:00But as you'll see him explain, it doesn't always go well in front of an audience.
34:07Check this out.
34:08I have been...
34:09I was a cocktail waitress in a comedy club.
34:10That was one of my, like, previous jobs.
34:11And I'll tell you what, there is nothing worse than being in a room when a comedian is
34:15bombing.
34:16He's bombing.
34:17I mean, everything on you just wants to die for them.
34:22Yeah.
34:23Yeah.
34:23Has that happened?
34:24Yeah.
34:24You've bombed like that?
34:26Oh, I've had...
34:26Yeah, I've bombed.
34:28I've bombed many times.
34:29What do you...
34:30What do you do?
34:31Yeah, like...
34:32Well, you just have to sort of, you know...
34:34What's like your biggest bomb?
34:36I had a very big bomb recently.
34:38I was doing an award show.
34:40Recently?
34:40Yeah, this was recently.
34:41To be fair, I was set up to fail.
34:43It was an award show.
34:44It was in Monaco.
34:45It was a very fancy event called...
34:47Okay.
34:48...Le Grand Prix de la Roi de Joalerie.
34:51And it's like a jewellery awards.
34:53He's a Frenchman.
34:54Yeah.
34:54Yeah.
34:55Well, this was the problem.
34:56I'm not a Frenchman.
34:57Because I got there and it turned out I was the only person that was going to be speaking
35:01on stage in English and everyone else was French.
35:03Oh.
35:04And it was the week of the Louvre heist where they robbed the Louvre.
35:08And I was like, it's a jewellery award.
35:10I was like, great.
35:11That can be my material.
35:12I'll just make a load of jokes about that.
35:14For sure.
35:14This French lady went up before me.
35:16She's like the Anna Wintour of jewellery.
35:17She did a whole preamble where she said in French that apparently the heist of the Louvre
35:22was one of the greatest tragedies ever to before France.
35:25And that the French people would rally together and get through this difficult time.
35:30Introduced me onto the stage.
35:31I came on.
35:32I was wearing like a high-vis vest.
35:34No.
35:35Holding a load of cropped jewellery that I bought on Sheen.
35:38No.
35:38I was like, hey, who wants Napoleon's tiara?
35:41Silence.
35:42Oh.
35:42Complete silence.
35:44Tumbleweed.
35:44Jack.
35:45I had ten more minutes of jokes about the Louvre getting robbed and how the security guards
35:50were working tonight and we were going to be counting all the jewellery that went out
35:53to see how much came back in.
35:54Can we find this online?
35:55The irony will actually.
35:56Thank the Lord that it wasn't televised.
36:00Damn.
36:00So no one was able to wait.
36:01But it was agony.
36:02I had to be there for three hours.
36:04I had to keep going back out to all of these French people that hated my guts.
36:07Oh.
36:08Cracking more jokes.
36:09And it was just horrendous.
36:11There was one English guy at the back who was like, ha, ha, ha.
36:14Which made it even worse.
36:16The sound of one person laughing is worse than the sound of nobody laughing.
36:20Oh, my God.
36:21Jack, that is hilarious.
36:22That is incredible.
36:23That's why my sister and I love you so much.
36:27Because we would have been on board laughing.
36:28Yeah.
36:29That's funny.
36:29I knew you there.
36:30You've got to make fun of it.
36:31Yeah.
36:31Exactly.
36:32Oh, my God.
36:32But the fact that you went on right after someone was like, it's a tragedy.
36:37That's incredible.
36:39Okay.
36:39I love you.
36:40Okay.
36:41So you're both parents of toddlers now.
36:43Did they come to set?
36:44Because my kids come to set every now and then.
36:45Yes.
36:46They came to set.
36:47I mean, Leo was there every single day.
36:49Elsie was there whenever Roxy, his wife, was there.
36:51And, you know, I thought they hit it off.
36:53Yeah.
36:54Pretty good.
36:55Yeah.
36:55They played together.
36:56Oh, no, wait.
36:56There's something in that tone.
36:57What?
36:58Well, the first time they played together, Elsie, I don't think, was necessarily Faye with the
37:04concept of sharing and stole a couple of Leo's toys.
37:09Oh.
37:09They definitely had to build their chemistry.
37:11OMG.
37:12Leo had a mental breakdown, like most men do around women.
37:16You know, he just didn't know how to deal with it.
37:18So I had to talk.
37:19I'm like, Leo, these are your toys, but you have to share them with Elsie.
37:22Those are teaching moments.
37:23That's good.
37:24Yeah.
37:24It's always a thing.
37:25Yeah.
37:26They grow up so fast.
37:27It's worse.
37:27Like, I feel like my kids act better when it happens with other kids.
37:32But when it's like, like when it's River and Remy, when it's my two siblings, that's
37:37World War III.
37:38Yeah.
37:38Yeah.
37:39But they're nice with other people.
37:40I'm like, who you are in public is so different.
37:43Yeah.
37:44Than behind.
37:44I'm just kidding.
37:45They're lovely.
37:46You can see The Verbs streaming now on Peacock.
37:50We're going to be right back with What I'm Liking.
38:05All right.
38:06So before we roll the credits, I have one more great story for you.
38:09This is What I'm Liking.
38:14Now, I've been known to enjoy good music from time to time.
38:18I have my own music channel on Sirius XM, Andy's Kiki Lounge.
38:23But I'm not sure I could ever look as cool as Bradford, a 14-year-old Westy mix who sits
38:30on his owner's lap whenever she tackles the keys.
38:34Check out what I mean.
38:47I mean, Bradford is in bliss.
38:50He's feeling it.
38:51And he's become quite the internet star because of it.
38:53We have him along with his human Kara on the line watching from my hometown of St. Louis
38:59on Fox 2.
39:01Hey, Kara.
39:05Fellow St. Louisan, you didn't train Bradford to do this, right?
39:09No, I did not.
39:10It was super wild.
39:11It was during 2020 when I was teaching piano lessons from home.
39:15He started scurrying downstairs, jumping up on my lap.
39:1825 hours he would sit, just kind of hang out.
39:20I started to notice his sweet little expressions.
39:23So I put my camera near the piano for my memories.
39:27And then it wasn't until some of my friends said, oh my goodness, this is so cute.
39:31You should post this online.
39:34And then requests came and then the viral videos just started coming.
39:38I'm so grateful.
39:39So sweet.
39:41Now, does Bradford have a favorite genre?
39:44You know what?
39:44I'm a jazz musician and he does tend to love the jazz and he loves very soothing
39:49classical piano as well.
39:51I love watching Bradford vibe out to the music.
39:54It's so sweet.
39:55Thank you, Kara and Bradford.
39:57I am liking your post right now.
40:00And that's not all.
40:01Our season-long partner Pilot Pen, makers of Precise, the go-to Precise pen of the Kelly
40:07Clarkson Show, want to celebrate those who find beauty in life's little moments.
40:12So they'll be writing Bradford a check through you for $1,000.
40:21Hey guys, I got to go back to watch what happens live.
40:25I want to thank all our guests this hour.
