00:00Red Perfume de Provence, also known as Boteo, Duftfestival, and Vinschurden.
00:09This rose gets to be approximately 100 cm tall and about 60 cm wide.
00:17It is hardly down to USDA Zone 6B.
00:22Now, this is one of my most favorite red roses.
00:29And it is not because of those double blooms up against that more light green foliage, even though it looks
00:36very pretty.
00:37It is simply because this is one of the most potent scented red roses you can get.
00:43It is 8.5 out of 10.
00:47And you get a very strong raspberry scent and some Gallica Nodes.
00:52But really, a very very powerful raspberry scent on this one.
00:57It is probably my most powerful and raspberry scent.
01:02And I really like it for that scent alone.
01:06So that is why when you compare it to something like Deep Secret that is primarily Damask, or you compare
01:14it to something like Velvet Fragrance that has a lot of fruitiness, Damask, and citrus in it.
01:20And I still believe Red Perfume, Damask has a nice spot to fill in the garden, because it is very
01:29raspberry fragrant, where the others don't really hit that note.
01:34So, this is for sure one of my all time favorite red roses.
01:40And this one is, of course, ranking very very highly with me.
01:46The health is actually quite good.
01:49I had expected it to do far worse on health, but it is an 8 out of 10 on health.
01:55The rose does want to get a bit tall at around 100 centimeters, so it's right on that outer limit
02:03at placing it at the front of the flower bed.
02:06But sadly, a lot of red roses tend to get very tall, so you sometimes have to, well, roll the
02:14dice.
02:16But on form I will probably only give it a 7 and a half.
02:20It is a very beautiful form still, but it does want to get a bit tall.
02:26The rose flowers themselves actually make excellent cut flowers.
02:30They tend to last about 5 days when you take them inside for cut flowering.
02:35And I have had no issues whatsoever with these ones shattering.
02:40Another thing I will note is that this rose has just stood up to days of 50 millimeters of rain.
02:47So, it is no fragile beauty either when it comes to rain or boiling up or anything like that.
02:54It has actually performed quite admirably in the rainy conditions we have just had here in Denmark.
03:02It also survived the winter down to at least a minus 15C and I didn't even see it struggle there.
03:09So, this one can go down to at least minus 20C.
03:13So, it is no fragile beauty either.
03:16It can't handle cold very well.
03:20So, what about storytelling?
03:23Well, there is not much storytelling going on in this one.
03:27There is no transformation of the bloom like there was on Wilbur Fragrance.
03:32It is just a very simple, beautiful, copped flower on this one.
03:38So, I would probably only rank it seven on the storytelling.
03:45And the flower.
03:47The flower is actually quite big.
03:49About the same size as Grafen Diener and Deep Secret.
03:53It is about 7 to 8 centimeters across.
03:58And yeah, I had no issues whatsoever with the flowers.
04:03Neither sunburns or rain or anything like that.
04:06So, to sum this up.
04:09This rose alone for that powerful raspberry fragrance.
04:13The very good health.
04:15And the fact it tends to bloom.
04:17Well, I wouldn't say it is extremely peripheral.
04:20But it is certainly on the very good side when it comes to blooming in a red rose.
04:25But when you add all this up.
04:27Compared with the winter hardiness.
04:29The leaf health.
04:31And the fact I haven't really had rust.
04:33The black spot issues on it.
04:35And this is in my opinion.
04:38A very, very good red rose.
04:40And I am giving this one a gold medal.
04:44So, don't be afraid to get Dove Festival Botero.
04:49Or Red Perfume de Pourennes.
04:50Wyn Schurden.
04:52Henry Dunant.
04:53And all these other names when you run into it.
04:56That is the reason it has so many names.
04:58It is what I usually say.
05:00Or what we say here in Denmark.
05:02Beloved child has many names.
05:04And it is very true of this rose.
