00:00Hi, my name is Aidan Ruiz. I'm a shortstop from the Stony Brook School.
00:02I grew up in Queens, New York with my family and then my freshman year I came here at the
00:07Stony Brook School
00:08and now we board here for the last four years.
00:11And what was it like for the first time kind of being away from your family for a long period
00:15of time?
00:15Yeah, I mean it was a little adjustment but I mean I got the hang of it.
00:19I mean I was with my teammates and my coaches so it kind of made it easier to do that.
00:23Overall goal with baseball is just to leave an impact and see how far I can get my talent to
00:27go
00:27and the hard work I put in. But yeah, just always trying to get better at the game
00:31and learn it more and just see how far I can get it.
00:33Yeah, my parents are definitely my main factor and my coach is here.
00:37But yeah, my parents, I mean my whole life they were my trainers.
00:40My mom played softball also. So it was like I had my coaches at home.
00:43I've gotten the opportunity to train with Francisco Lindor and Arjun Amalo, a couple of pros.
00:49But yeah, it's always a blessing to be able to be with people who know the game more than you
00:54and be able to learn from them.
00:55Yeah, I was selected to play with the area co-team from the Northeast which is the Yankees
01:00down in California and compete against those teams down there.
01:03But it was great for the last few years.
01:04And talk a little bit about your friendship with Jaden Stroman.
01:07Yeah, Jaden's a best buddy of mine. We played against each other and with each other.
01:12We were like 12 years old and then we happened to come to the same high school.
01:15And that bond over the years and pushing each other to be better
01:19and learning the game together, I mean, is definitely what strengthened our friendship.
01:22I think he's definitely excited. That's how I'm excited for his.
01:25He's at UVA right now pitching and hitting.
01:27And I know he's a great kid, great player.
01:30So I'm excited to see where he's going also.
01:32What would it be like if the two of you played each other in college again?
01:35That would be sick. I mean, that's definitely something we've talked about before.
01:38And definitely a competitive rival we have with each other.
01:42But yeah, we'll talk about it when he comes back on the offseason.
