00:00But we are going to take a peek at the top 10.
00:03And to absolutely no one's surprise,
00:05Rock Chalowski is the first mocked number one pick to the Chicago White Sox.
00:11You've gotten to check in much on Rock so far this year.
00:14And what impresses you about a guy that, you know,
00:17really has been kind of the cream of the crop of college baseball for two years now?
00:21Yeah, it's funny.
00:22And you do that and then people start pitting you against yourself.
00:25And now all of a sudden I've been seeing people just be like,
00:27Oh, are we sure Rock isn't Dylan Cruz all over again?
00:31Like, as I just said,
00:32there's no way to really be sure about anything when it comes to baseball prospects.
00:36However, I think we can wait and find out also like it's not over for Dylan Cruz yet either.
00:42But Chalowski is just a special talent.
00:44When you talk about the defensive ability at shortstop,
00:47you know, the athleticism that he brings to the table.
00:49You mentioned the production.
00:50There has been some stretches this year where he hasn't been as quite,
00:54quite as good, you know,
00:56as you'd want to see against some of the top flight arms.
00:58I don't think there's that much stock to put in there.
01:00He's running his own contact rate of like 90%.
01:02He's an average exit velocity of 92 miles per hour.
01:05And he's still producing quite well.
01:07And he's the guy that's been circled for multiple years now.
01:09And it's being pitched to as carefully as anybody.
01:12So like, I just think he has a different set of rules there for him.
01:17So I think it's going to be Chalowski.
01:20I don't think the White Sox can afford to overthink this at the same time.
01:23I'm like, it's going to be a fascinating bonus ask there,
01:27especially with some teams behind,
01:28maybe trying to drive that price up a little bit.
01:31I know the Giants acquired some more bonus pool money with the trade with Pat
01:35Bailey.
01:35They could just try to be annoying and pesky and, you know,
01:39try to meet the, the, the, the asking price there at one, but still,
01:42I don't see how anything could happen other than the White Sox taking him.
01:45The one thing is that Grady Emerson at two, you know,
01:48we have going to the Rays is extremely, extremely talented.
01:53And if the team really, really feels as though, you know,
01:57he is not that far off and it's always hard to compare the high schooler to
02:00the college guy, but Emerson looks as talented as, you know,
02:03the high schoolers we've seen, you know,
02:04in these last couple of years too.
02:06So do you believe that it is rock versus the field at this point,
02:10or is it rock and Emerson versus the field?
02:12You've got a guy like Jackson Flora, who's been amazing at Santa Barbara.
02:15He's sitting at a mock four right now.
02:17Von Lackey is sitting in a mock three, the catcher at Georgia tech.
02:21I do think so.
02:22Just because I don't see the Rays going with an arm there ever at two.
02:27So like the price is just kind of driven up by the fact that I think
02:30Grady Emerson's floor is kind of two.
02:32I'd be floored if, if the race didn't take, you know,
02:36Grady Emerson there at two, I guess you never necessarily know.
02:39I think Von Lackey is going to have a lot of intrigue though,
02:42at the end of the day.
02:43And there's always the top pitcher can be talked about in a way and kind
02:47of nestle his way in there.
02:48I just think the top high school bat and the top college bat are so darn
02:52good.
02:52That's going to be really hard to see it shaken out any other way.
02:54One and two, other than maybe the super surprise that, you know,
02:59the white socks, you know, pivot and save some money,
03:02quote unquote with Emerson and go, go that unique route.
03:05And I still think that's incredibly unlikely.
03:07I'm excited to get more into the draft bag.
03:09Once we get this next top 100 update out in the coming weeks to dig deeper
03:13into this and talk to people about it.
03:14But just from what it seems like this far, thus far,
03:17like it seems like it's those two and then everybody else in terms of the
03:20likelihood of, of, of going to number one.
03:22We're going to run you through three through five real quick.
03:25And if, if anybody jumps out there in terms of college arms or just college
03:30bats in general, it's Von Lackey.
03:32Who's mocked at three to Minnesota, the catcher from Georgia tech Jackson floor,
03:37the right-hander from UC Santa Barbara is mocked to the giants at number four.
03:40And at number five, Chris Hacopian,
03:42the second baseman at Texas A&M is mocked to the Pittsburgh pirates.
03:45I do want to add six here because Cameron Flukie,
03:47the right-hander at coastal Carolina,
03:49he is mocked to the Kansas city Royals at six.
03:52When you think, and again,
03:54you're going to get way deeper into this bag in the coming weeks,
03:56but when you think about the top arm in the draft,
04:00Flora and Flukie are the two that just baseball have mocked in the top six.
04:05Is there anybody else that comes to mind or is there something that sticks out
04:08about one of those two guys?
04:09No, I mean, I think it's, it's Flora.
04:11And now even a little bit more comfortably,
04:13even though they're close in the draft,
04:15I think Flukie might be more talented ultimately, but you know,
04:18with the stress fracture there's a chance that he could be valued a little bit
04:23lower at the end of the day.
04:25I think teams are starting to realize like,
04:27even if the guy's hurt going into it,
04:29like he's probably going to eventually have something come up later.
04:31So it's more of just a timing thing.
04:34And if you think Flukie is going to be fine and make a full recovery,
04:36like there's strong case of this guy's as talented as just about anybody,
04:39but there's also this high school kid, Brody, Bumila.
04:43I think I hope I'm hoping saying that right.
04:45This lefty that's throwing absolute fuel from a funky release and extending
04:50like crazy.
04:51And like, he could be awesome.
04:52Then another local kid down here, Gio Rojas,
04:54another hard throwing lefty, super athletic on the mound.
04:57I could see both of those guys, you know, prep lefties with huge upside,
05:01you know, making a little bit of a,
05:02a climb up the board and making some noise,
05:05but Flukie is so much fun.
05:06And I think has a great chance to be good just off the fastball alone.
05:09And I think with what Florida has consistently done,
05:11he solidified himself probably as, you know,
05:13comfortably with the injury wrinkle,
05:15the best pitcher in this draft.
05:16We'll see you next time.
05:16We'll see you next time.
05:16So I'll see you next time.
