00:00From cruise to quarantine, 18 people on that cruise ship hit by the Hantavirus are now back
00:05in the U.S., most of them in Nebraska, but two are now being evaluated in Atlanta, Georgia.
00:10And response rejected. Iran replying to a U.S. proposal to end the war, calling its own plan
00:16both reasonable and generous, but President Trump calls it stupid and says the ceasefire
00:22is on life support. And we do have breaking news. 18 cruise passengers on that ship that was hit by
00:28the Hantavirus are back in the U.S. now, all of them arriving just about 12 hours ago.
00:33And initial evaluations are taking place at two medical centers, one in Omaha, Nebraska,
00:39the other in Atlanta, Georgia. And here's what we know. At least one American has tested positive
00:44for the deadly virus. That person is in a biocontainment unit in Omaha. 15 others who
00:50are all asymptomatic are in quarantine at that same facility. One is a British dual national,
00:56another person with mild symptoms was flown to Atlanta along with another passenger.
01:01We're told that couple is in a biocontainment unit there. Officials say case-by-case decisions
01:06will be made as far as the next steps. Top U.S. health officials say the risk of spread at
01:11this
01:12point is very low. And last hour, President Trump said this.
01:16That these two patients traveled together on the cruise, according to health officials. And
01:22one of the patients is, as I mentioned before, symptomatic. Now back to you.
01:27Rafael Romo, live for us in Atlanta. Thank you. Omar.
01:31Month-long ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is barely intact. That is what President Trump
01:36suggested today while slamming the latest Iranian counterproposal to end the war.
01:41Iranian officials say they sent a reasonable and generous response to the U.S. Iran state media
01:46says a new lawsuit accuses ChatGPT of helping a shooter commit a mass attack at Florida State
01:52University last year. The suit comes from the family of 45-year-old father of two,
01:57Tiru Chaba. The Aramark regional vice president was visiting campus when he was gunned down.
02:02He was one of two killed. Six others were wounded in this attack. Today, attorneys for Chaba's widow
02:08said the suspect, who is headed to trial, had some 16,000 chats with ChatGPT that aided him in
02:15planning the rampage. And they say OpenAI, which owns ChatGPT, needs to be held accountable.
02:22CNN AI correspondent Hadass Gold is with us now. Hadass, this feels a bit like the future
02:27of a number of lawsuits. Tell us about what is in this one and where this is headed.
02:34Yeah, Brianna, this case comes to a heart of an issue that a lot of AI companies
02:38accidented criminal investigation that the Florida attorney general started actually just
02:42last month into OpenAI because they said they need to see whether the company bears any
02:47responsibility for this mass shooting attack that happened last year in April at Florida State
02:51University because of those thousands of messages that Eichner, Phoenix Eichner, the suspect in this
02:56case, exchanged with ChatGPT. Yeah, certainly. Hadass, thank you very much for the latest there.
03:02Coming up, we're following the latest on the Hantavirus. Who is quarantining in the U.S. and where
03:07are they? They're in two different locations, so we'll talk about that, why they're there. We'll
03:11talk about what comes next as well. Van accused of trying to assassinate President Trump at last
03:17month's White House Correspondents' Dinner was in federal court today. 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen
03:22pleading not guilty to all four charges that he faces. And his defense team continued its effort to
03:28get top Justice Department officials disqualified from the case. They say those officials face a
03:33conflict of interest because they were there during the incident. CNN Chief Legal Affairs
03:38Correspondent Paula Reid is with us now on this story. Paula, how did the judge respond here?
03:43The judge is clearly skeptical of this argument that top Justice Department officials like U.S.
03:48Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, that they have to be removed from this
03:54case because they were at the dinner and they argue they were victims of this alleged crime.
03:59The judge points out that everything with Allen happened outside the ballroom where Blanche,
04:04Peer, or other Justice Department officials were eating. They likely didn't see anything,
04:07but the judge invited them to submit additional details on exactly what it is they're looking for,
04:14right? Okay, you want the D.C. U.S. Attorney's Office to be removed from this case. Do you want
04:19the
04:19entire Justice Department to be removed? They're going to submit those additional details
04:23about their request. But politically, the fact is that Pirro and Blanche are not going to want to
04:29step aside from this case without a massive fight. This is one of the most high-profile cases they
04:33were dealing with, and we know both of them are up for promotions, right? Todd Blanche is acting as
04:39Attorney General. According to my reporting, he is likely going to be tapped to permanently take on
04:43that position. Jean Pirro, she is someone who has been discussed, is also possibly in line for a
04:50promotion soon at the Justice Department. So they're not going to want to step aside from a case
04:55which, at its core, is about trying to kill their boss. But also, this idea of a perpetrator exacting
05:03a crime and doing so potentially, in this case it was sort of like pre-the ballroom, but potentially
05:10in the presence of people who might be in charge of pursuing justice for the crime, in a way sort
05:17of
05:17creates the conflict. No? Do you see the kind of issue here?
05:20And look, a lot of legal scholars have argued that it probably is a good idea for Pirro and Blanche
05:25to step aside. You don't want to jeopardize a potential conviction in a case like this.
05:31But politically, they're both focused on the herein. So we're talking about attempting to
05:35assassinate the President of the United States, discharging a firearm in the commission of an
05:39act of violence, so transporting guns and ammunition through interstate commerce. It's a very serious
05:45case. But there are multiple considerations here. And at this point, it is not expected
05:49that these officials will step aside. Paula, thank you for that. Next, a heartbreaking final
05:55reunion. A Mexican couple enduring weeks in detention and multiple deportations in a desperate
06:00bid to see their teenage son before he died. Their plight right after this.
06:06We continue to follow our breaking news. One of those American passengers who was evacuated from
06:11that cruise ship struck by Hantavirus is giving us the first behind-the-scenes look at where he's
06:17being quarantined. In a post on Instagram, Jake Rosmarin uploaded a selfie from his quarantine room
06:23at this medical facility in Nebraska where he says he's OK and feeling well. CNN continues to try and
06:30reach him for an interview. We're also seeing our first images of two other Americans evacuated from
06:35that cruise ship arriving at the airport in Atlanta. One of those passengers is experiencing
06:41symptoms of the virus and both are now being observed at a biocontainment unit at Emory University
06:48Hospital in Atlanta. CNN's Diane Gallagher is with us now. She's in Omaha where 16 of those passengers
06:54are being monitored. Diane, what can you tell us about this facility and how long these passengers could be
07:01there? The wee hours of the morning, they wanted to let them sleep some and they're basically going
07:05to interview them, take their temperature, do some other things to determine exactly how close they may
07:12have had contact with somebody who tested positive or another individual who is exhibiting symptoms,
07:18as we talked about, who is in Atlanta. Day one is. This is a very individualistic approach
07:24that the doctors are taking, saying every case is different and unique, and it's all determined on where
07:31your contact was, how close it was, how long you were in contact, and how you're feeling at the moment.
07:39Very interesting look there. Diane, thank you for that live for us from Nebraska. Omar?
07:43Let's get... A gay couple in California is now speaking out after they say they were swept up in a
07:48MAGA
07:49influencer's viral stunt in West Hollywood. CNN's Doni O'Sullivan sat down with them, and he's here
07:55with us now. Doni, what did they tell you? Hey, Brianna. Yeah, on social media, Al Gros...
08:02Sullivan, thank you for that report. Next, Nike finds itself at the wrong end of a lawsuit. Why shoppers
08:08are coming after the athletic apparel company? It's not COVID, but it's not over. Health officials warning
08:16we could see more hantavirus cases in the future while downplaying the possibility of a more dangerous
08:21outbreak. Ballot battle, why the post office may be the new front in President Trump's war on mail-in
08:28voting. And this Thursday, a federal judge will hold a hearing on the latest front line in the election
08:34ballot battle, and that's the Postal Service. The president's executive order from March directed USPS
08:39to not only deliver the ballots, but also help decide who gets them. Now, sources say there's
08:45alarm inside the Postal Service over whether the already financially strapped agency can take on these
08:51new duties. CNN's Gabe Cohen has the details on this. All right, what are they getting ready to do
08:57here? Yeah, so Brianna, what the... In and around the Postal Service right now, talking to officials,
09:01both current and former, yes, there are major concerns about whether or not they have the legal authority
09:07to do this, to be cross-checking lists potentially. The quote behind me, if the Postal Service decides
09:12to do this, it will be a disaster. A lot of officials don't think they are capable of doing
09:17this. And by the way, this is an independent entity, entity, an independent agency. They've
09:23taken their first steps toward implementing this, what's called the rulemaking process, where they
09:27try to figure out, okay, how would we do this? And they have really good reason to want to avoid
09:33a
09:33confrontation with Congress and with this administration, because I'll remind you that
09:37they don't want to die on right now. Such an unusual situation. Gabe, thank you.
09:41Some tracking the Hantavirus, 18 people from that cruise ship hit by the outbreak are back in the U.S.
09:47What doctors are watching for in the coming days and weeks?
09:52We're back with our breaking news on the passengers on board that cruise ship that was hit by a deadly
09:57Hantavirus outbreak. At this hour, 18 passengers from the ship are now being monitored in medical facilities
10:03in Nebraska.
