02:51Tonight, we are doing predictions.
02:55WWE Backlash 2026 is on the horizon, and here we go.
02:59We have five matches that have been announced thus far.
03:02Look, if they add something on SmackDown, I'm sorry.
03:06I'm recording this before SmackDown records, but let's get into what has been announced.
03:10Let's start with Seth Rollins versus Braun Breaker with Paul Heyman in a singles grudge match.
03:16This match is long overdue.
03:17We've been waiting for months and months to see this.
03:19The betting odds have Braun Breaker as the favorite to win the match, and I am going to side with
03:26those betting odds.
03:27I don't think Seth Rollins loses anything by losing here.
03:30I think Braun Breaker gains quite a bit by winning here, and I believe that we need to build to
03:35a couple things.
03:36One, Seth Rollins versus Roman Reigns has to happen within the next 12 months.
03:41We've been waiting forever for it.
03:42It's got the world championship on Roman right now, and Seth Rollins wants that championship back.
03:48That is a program we can always build to because they don't need to worry about reputation or win streaks,
03:53losing streaks, or anything like that with Seth and Roman because of their history.
03:56So Seth can take the loss and still be in the world championship conversation.
03:59Braun Breaker, on the other hand, is somebody who could easily, by the mania next year, be elevated to a
04:05main event position.
04:06I also think Braun Breaker, in the future, has feuds with two people that have to happen, but not until
04:11they're all at premium levels.
04:13One, Braun Breaker has to face Jacob Fatu at some point.
04:16The tease of that at Royal Rumble two years ago was incredible.
04:20They've got to get to that at some point.
04:22Also, the other way to look at it is Braun Breaker has to have something at some point with Obafemi.
04:28Both of those could happen after this Rollins feud at some point in time.
04:32I don't care when.
04:33I don't think those have to be mania matches, but they easily could be, depending on who champions are around
04:37mania season.
04:38Either way, Braun Breaker needs to mix it up with those two talents at some point.
04:42This match strategically positions him to be on a level similar to that of Obafemi, which I think would be
04:48a great way to set him up for a long run with Oba once he's done with Seth Rollins.
04:52Now, I expect the Seth Rollins stuff to stretch out a few more months, but once that's over, this would
04:57be a great way to catapult him into the Obafemi conversation.
05:00Next, we have for the United States Championship, Trick Williams with Lil Yachty against Sami Zayn.
05:05Look, Trick just won that championship at WrestleMania.
05:07The betting odds have Trick as the favorite.
05:09I don't see any reason to change that for two reasons.
05:13One, the recent championship victory makes all the sense in the world.
05:16And two, I believe that Sami Zayn is going to be strategically positioned to win the Money in the Bank
05:22briefcase later this year.
05:24I think Sami Zayn will take that briefcase to WrestleMania, where he will challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship and
05:29try to win his first WWE World Championship of some kind.
05:32So we're going to have to keep our eyes on what happens with Sami Zayn going forward, but I think
05:35for that reason, the Money in the Bank briefcase, I think he will lose here to Trick Williams.
05:39Maybe that's some outside interference from Lil Yachty.
05:41I would expect that.
05:43That's probably why he's there, especially after Sami Zayn cracked him over the head with the gingerbread man's candy cane.
05:50So we'll have to see how it all plays out, but I definitely think we're going to see a retention
05:53by Trick Williams.
05:54Io Sky versus Asuka.
05:56Io is the huge favorite against Asuka, and this is the one match I'm going heavily against the betting odds.
06:02I'm pulling for Asuka.
06:04Because they let go Kairi Sane, I see Asuka wins here to keep the feud going longer so we can
06:11have a bigger payoff match.
06:12Here is what I know people have talked about Kairi Sane coming back one night only for this match in
06:18some way, shape, or form.
06:19I think that is a gross misuse of Kairi Sane if that is to happen.
06:23I say Asuka wins here through the mist or something so that there's a reason to have them go again.
06:29And the next time they should do this should be at SummerSlam where the returning Kairi Sane as the special
06:34referee
06:35where she could then help Io go over when she turns against her senpai, Asuka.
06:39I think it makes all the sense in the world.
06:41So my prediction is Asuka wins here so that Io could win later.
06:45From there we go to Dan Housen and his mystery tag team partner against The Miz and Kit Wilson.
06:51This is the heaviest betting odds on the card according to the odds makers.
06:55Dan Housen and whoever his partner is are the heavy favorites and who am I to go against that?
07:00Dan Housen keeps his undefeated streak alive.
07:02I side with Dan Housen and whoever the partner is.
07:05And I've seen the partners being suggested as things like CM Punk, John Cena, all sorts of stuff like that.
07:10One, it's not going to be John Cena.
07:12I think there's a 0% chance of John Cena.
07:14But I do notice that CM Punk is nowhere on this card.
07:17And it would be a great way for him to be able to do something with his buddy that I
07:19think would mean something to the two of them.
07:21I don't think it would mean much to the wrestling world.
07:23And obviously, you know, CM Punk is way above The Miz and Kit Wilson's level.
07:28But this would be a great way for CM Punk's popularity and Dan Housen's merchandise sales to really kick into
07:33high gear for the two of them.
07:34And they are very, very close in real life.
07:36And of course we get to the main event.
07:38Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu.
07:41I don't love that we don't have a Cody Rhodes defense on this show, but I kind of get it.
07:45But as of right now, we don't have that.
07:47Roman Reigns is going to face Jacob Fatu.
07:49Roman Reigns is the heavy betting favorite.
07:51This is a match they should not be doing right now.
07:54They should be doing something else because this should be a WrestleMania main event at some point in the future.
07:58And if you do this now, you're not going to be able to do that later in my opinion.
08:01But I do believe that because of the recency of winning the championship again, Roman Reigns retains.
08:06Now, they could change things up and put it on Jacob Fatu.
08:08And I'm not against them doing that.
08:09I just don't see them doing that.
08:11There are people online who are saying that that would be a gross miscalculation on WWE's behalf.
08:15And it might kill any momentum they have.
08:17I don't believe that.
08:18Fatu is over.
08:18If you listen to my opening credits and hear that speech and hear the fans in the background, people love
08:22Jacob Fatu.
08:24There's so much more that can be done, though.
08:25Fatu and Braun Breaker I mentioned earlier.
08:28I'd love to see that in the future.
08:30Roman Reigns and Gunther I would have liked to have seen, but they just moved Gunther to SmackDown.
08:34Why are we not seeing Cody and Gunther already?
08:36Why are we saving that?
08:37Are we saving that for next month's PLE so Roman could get a month off?
08:40I don't know.
08:41So we'll have to wait and see.
08:42Is that a Night of Champions thing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia?
08:45I don't know.
08:46Is it a Saturday night's main event match?
08:47I don't know.
08:48Where's the Women's Tag Team Championship?
08:50Where's the Women's United States or Intercontinental Championships?
08:52Where's the regular Intercontinental Championship?
08:54Why are we not seeing more matches on these cards?
08:57Tony Khan's putting too many matches on cards.
08:59And WWE's doing these five-match shows.
09:01And it's just not good enough.
09:02But that seems to be the modus operandi for TKO now.
09:07Again, maximize that profitability.
09:09You know?
09:09At the end of the day, though, I think it's actually hurting their profitability.
09:12Because people would buy more merchandise for stars that are in the arena if those stars were actually performing.
09:17And there's so many guys who could be moving merchandise that are not going to be on the show.
09:21And I almost think it's a travesty.
09:23With as many wrestlers as they have under contract, there's no reason they can't feature more talent.
09:27But that's just the way they're doing things these days.
