20:15be a female. So these are the people he with. One, two, three, four. Four chicks. That's
20:21a female. That's not a dude. That's a suspect right here. I think she must be fussing with
20:26the dude. And she's shooting at him. And this is the victim right here. She needed to be
20:32caught. That is insane, bro. This is so negligent. Lord have mercy. It's very shocking that our
20:39shooter in this case was a female. I'm just surprised that a female would do something
20:45like that, would shoot in a crowd of people, you know. But that's not something that we
20:50would normally have most of the time. Most of the violent acts that we are having in our
20:54city is being committed by men. But lately, a lot of females have been pulling off some
21:00acts. When we initially looked at the footage, we thought that the male with the gray shirt
21:07was the shooter. But with the additional video footage that shows the female with the weapon
21:13in hand, shooting in the direction where the victim was, was, um, was found. That wasn't
21:18even a, that wasn't even a dude with the sweaty-ass gray shirt on. No, no, it wasn't. It was
21:23the female who kept trying to pull him away. Wow. That was actually the shooter. And she
21:28just turns around and just blindly shoots down the street. Yeah. And hit the wrong person,
21:32completely missed her target. Yes. Wow. Yeah. Okay.
21:37Oh, they say she only stopped firing because it looks like the magazine prematurely ejected
21:43from the pistol. Oh, wow. As we're looking at the video, you're able to see when she fires
21:50two shots, the magazine immediately falls out of the gun. Wow. So she would have shot more. So she hit
21:56that wall over here. Yeah. Let me see. See that? I believe in divine intervention because had she
22:04continued to shoot, she could have shot multiple people. And this could have been
22:10a major, major disaster. Yeah, right down. Right where the white spot is.
22:17Way up here. Way up here.
22:20Yeah. That looked like two. That's a big hole. That's one. Yeah. It's one. But she, yeah.
22:28hit way up there. She didn't even shoot nowhere near her target. She missed like two times. Like, literally. She
22:40was all over the place.
22:41Yeah. We just got to identify who the hell that person was with the damn dreads shooting down the
22:49damn street blindly on Bourbon Street. Right. Even though we're able to see that the person in the video
22:57is a female, we still don't have enough to make a positive ID as to who this person is just
23:03yet.
23:04Since we have a plate and make and model of the vehicle, are they going to put something in the
23:10system to where
23:12anytime it passes through a read, it'll notify Texas? It's going to notify the agencies. When that vehicle hits
23:19and if that, like I said, like if a troop or somebody is driving and that plate hit, they get
23:24a hit,
23:25they're going to stop their car wherever they go. It's going to be, it's like nationwide.
23:29Almost like a stolen car. Almost like a stolen car type thing.
23:33Okay. Perfect. So we, we good. We cooking with grease tonight, y'all.
23:36All right. Well, good. Hopefully the Bolo will provide us with information on each one of those
23:43people that were there that night. So we can have them extradited back to the city.
23:49All right. HQ bound.
24:29Oh, that's the one with the sound. All right. All right. All right.
24:33All right.
24:34That's family.
24:38You're going to hear him arguing.
24:43Go, go, go, y'all go here.
24:58Go Mia, go Mia, go Mia, go Mia, go.
25:04You definitely heard the name, pal.
25:06I'm going to just shoot randomly down the street.
25:10Wow.
25:12I think it's upsetting knowing that females were even involved in this altercation
25:21and a female fired the firearm and killed this guy.
25:27It just saddens me.
25:29It's just another senseless murder.
25:33That's that, Mel.
25:35That's what we got.
25:50Okay, get on the highway.
25:53Let's roll.
25:54I got a call that the vehicle had been spotted in Mississippi at an event hall.
26:02Now we have to go to Mississippi to interview the three ladies that they have detained.
26:08I'm putting sleep aside.
26:10I'm putting food aside.
26:12We're going to get it.
26:13We're going to see what's what.
26:31It's been a while since I've had a case to come together this fast.
26:35But it feels good to know that we've had the help of multiple agencies to help us with this.
26:42The vehicle had been spotted.
26:45The vehicle had been spotted.
26:45And inside the vehicle, there are three black females.
26:55And there are four black men who have been spotted.
27:16Bourbon Street. Where were you on Friday morning? I mean Saturday morning at around 4 a.m.?
27:24Bourbon Street. I was leaving. I didn't sleep in like 24 hours, so yeah. It was a bachelorette party.
27:35Okay. With a bachelorette party?
27:36My friends.
27:38Okay. And what did you do on Bourbon Street?
27:41I went to some clubs. I'm a tourist, so.
27:46Okay.
27:46That's all.
27:47Okay.
27:48Okay.
27:50Alright, so like I said, I'm investigating a shooting.
27:54Did you, were you there when the shooting took place on Bourbon Street?
27:58I don't recall a shooting.
27:59You don't recall a shooting?
28:00I'm being so serious.
28:02I'm being so serious too. So I'm going to just tell you like this.
28:06At this point, your responses are going to determine whether or not you go home or you stay in jail.
28:13Period point blank. I'm not, I'm not, I've enjoyed two hours.
28:17I've been at work since 4.30 yesterday morning.
28:20So I'm not going to sit up here and play with you and have you insult my intelligence and say
28:26that you don't know what I'm talking about.
28:30Okay.
28:32You think it's a, you think it's by chance that we, that we got them to stop your car?
28:37Or that we got, we came all the way down from New Orleans to Columbia, Mississippi?
28:43I'm not here to play with you, ma'am.
28:46This is serious.
28:46This is not a game.
28:47This is your life.
28:48If you don't care about it, guess what?
28:50I ain't going to care either.
28:52What happened on Saturday morning?
29:19Talking to Mariah is very frustrating.
29:22Nothing is funny.
29:23You think, you think it's a game?
29:25It's two o'clock in the damn morning.
29:27I ain't got time to play with you.
29:28You got time to play with me.
29:28Not, I got a couch.
29:28I'm tired.
29:30The people who were with you guys.
29:32This is my first time in .
29:35OK, so they were all riding with you?
29:38Mm-hm.
29:38I was allowed to drive.
29:41And you don't know the names of the people that
29:43went that way?
29:44Mm-hm.
29:46Again, what did y'all do?
29:48Tell me when y'all got down here, y'all went to Bourbon
29:51Street.
29:52And what did y'all do when y'all got to Bourbon Street?
29:54We walked, I guess, the strip.
29:57We took a couple of clothes.
30:00I didn't know if I don't know what time I got there.
30:04But I know it was late.
30:06And about how long were you down there?
30:10Maybe about an hour, two hours.
30:15Maybe longer.
30:16I really don't know the time.
30:19I don't know the time.
30:21OK.
30:28Mariah is playing games.
30:30And she don't recall this.
30:32And she doesn't recall that.
30:33But she did, in fact, say that they were on Bourbon Street.
30:36But she was really aggravating us.
30:39She thought everything was a joke.
30:41So I'm going to get that last laugh, boo.
30:45I don't know.
30:45Where were you on Saturday about 4 a.m.?
30:48On Bourbon Street.
30:49You were on Bourbon Street.
30:50OK.
30:51Who were you with on Bourbon Street?
30:52What?
30:54The girl who I came, whose wedding I came back her for.
30:58Uh, .
31:00OK.
31:01And who else?
31:01Um, Mia.
31:04Uh-huh.
31:05And what's Mia's last name?
31:06Um, um.
31:09OK.
31:09And who else?
31:11Mariah.
31:12What's Mariah's last name?
31:13Uh, just Mary.
31:15OK.
31:16And who else?
31:17Um, Cam.
31:18Who?
31:19Cam.
31:19C-A-M?
31:20Mm-hmm.
31:21And that's Mia's brother.
31:24OK.
31:25And when you were on Bourbon Street, did anything happen on Bourbon Street?
31:28Um, I know this one guy, he kept coming.
31:31Um, like, trying to talk to, I think, Mariah or something.
31:37And I think, um, me getting upset.
31:40And, you know, because some of the guys just, you know, just go, go, go.
31:45So, as I turned around, that's when I heard shots go off.
31:50What did you think happened?
31:52Like I said, I...
31:53You thought someone was shooting at you all?
31:55Yeah, I didn't know if it was the person we was telling to go.
31:58Or, like I said, I didn't know if it was somebody from our group.
32:01Or if it was just, like I said, a lot going on.
32:04Or if it was just somebody, something else going on.
32:06I don't know.
32:08I just heard two shots.
32:10And I took off right in that trip.
32:16I don't know who started shooting.
32:18I don't know who started shooting.
32:19You know who started shooting.
32:21I'm not, we're not going to go through this, OK?
32:23Um, this is a serious incident, OK?
32:25Listen to me.
32:26This is very serious, OK?
32:29This is not a, this is not a game.
32:31No, it's not a game.
32:32I want to get home.
32:33Because we came all the way from New Orleans for this, OK?
32:36And what, how you respond and, um, from this point on is going to determine whether or
32:42not you go home or you, or you, or you stay here.
32:45So we need to know this one.
32:47I understand.
32:48I'm telling you everything.
32:49No, you're not telling me everything.
32:51Who was shooting?
32:57The Rick.
32:59Mia apologized to me today.
33:02For what?
33:05First shooting, I'm guessing.
33:07Because like I said, I didn't necessarily see anyone pull out a gun and shoot.
33:14I'm telling you the truth.
33:15Promise.
33:16I just heard gunshots and I started running.
33:19Like, this is a complete nightmare.
33:23I just want to get home.
33:25I promise you, I'll cooperate.
33:27Anything y'all want me to do.
33:30I believe she was being truthful.
33:32And she wants to do whatever she can to help.
33:35At this point, Mia is the person that we need to talk to.
33:40We're investigating a shooting, um, that happened on Saturday at about 4 a.m.
33:45on Bourbon Street.
33:47Um, where were you on this past Saturday at about 4 a.m.?
33:56Um, did you go to New Orleans on Friday with your
34:02Did y'all go to New Orleans at any time?
34:10Y'all went what?
34:13Y'all went somewhere partying for her wedding.
34:15Y'all went somewhere partying for her wedding?
34:18Okay.
34:19Where did y'all go?
34:20I'm directionally challenged.
34:22You're directionally challenged.
34:24That's what you're saying?
34:25Mia totally pissed me off during this interview.
34:29She was evading all of my questions.
34:32She was very uncooperative.
34:34What's your address?
34:41You know your cell phone number?
34:43I just got a new number.
34:45And I'm not about to play with her.
34:46I'm, I'm, I'm done with this.
34:48Anybody about to sit up here and play with you.
34:50All right?
34:51You can play dumb and you can play stupid all you want.
34:53But we didn't come all the way down here from New Orleans for nothing.
34:56So we're not coming down here to play with you.
34:58I'm not going to let you sit here and insult my intelligence.
35:01Either you're going to talk to me or you're not going to talk to me.
35:05And guess what?
35:06If you don't talk to me, that's on you.
35:07Because this is going to be your only opportunity that you're going to have to talk to me.
35:12And then you're going to be going back across the street.
35:14And you're going to be waiting until they come back to get you.
35:18To bring you back to New Orleans.
35:20To face these charges that you're about to get.
35:24Do you understand that?
35:26What did you do Saturday night?
35:32I think Mia has way more sense and is very competent.
35:36I don't know how you can not remember something that you did 24 hours ago.
35:44You shot a gun.
35:46And we have proof of that.
35:49But the unfortunate part of all of this is that there was someone that died.
35:54So this is a homicide investigation.
35:57And so at this point, you won't be going home.
36:00You will be getting charged with second degree murder.
36:02Okay?
36:03And you will be going to New Orleans.
36:05And maybe a week or so.
36:07Whenever they decide to come.
36:09Okay?
36:18I'm done.
36:19I'm done.
36:19I'm not going to keep playing this game with you.
36:22You're going to go back to a cell and you're going to be charged.
36:24You know?
36:25And someone else is planning a funeral for their loved one who had nothing to do with nothing.
36:33And it's very sad.
36:40Am I allowed to know who died?
36:42I'm just kidding.
37:15Did your email come through?
37:17I'm about to check it in a second.
37:21Okay, y'all, here we go, here we go.
37:22Look, look, look, look.
37:24Hey, Sarge.
37:26So we got video from, this is from a business on Bourbon Street that captured the shooting.
37:34So we're going to see the group right here walking up.
37:41They're arguing with another guy that's like, kind of like following them.
37:44So they're trying to push them up the street and telling the guy to go back because he's
37:51walking towards them and here she goes.
37:56And she drops the magazine and this is Mia Lindsey.
38:02So this is going to be Mariah, the driver of the car.
38:07And she's trying to say she didn't see anything, but she's turned around and she's looking.
38:14It's her.
38:19So this is Mia's brother, Cam, Marini.
38:24She dropped the magazine and her brother picked it up.
38:27So, wow.
38:30You know, it could have been multiple people shot.
38:32With all those people.
38:33Yeah, that was, it was straight carelessness.
38:37That man could have been shot.
38:39The girl, she could have been shot.
38:41That's just how close she was.
38:45This is ridiculous.
38:47Yes, sir.
38:48Really ridiculous.
38:50They were walking up Bourbon Street and the guy and Mia kept getting into it and they
38:56were arguing.
38:57Mia ultimately pulled her weapon and began to fire in the guy's direction.
39:02Unfortunately, she missed him and struck Mr. Oates, who had nothing to do with this
39:07incident whatsoever.
39:10We got a good bit done, but still got a little more work to do.
39:14But I'm glad we got her off the street and more arrests to come.
39:19Yeah.
39:35All right, so on yesterday, there was an indictment that went through on the homicide of Christopher
39:41Oates Jr.
39:42Mia Lindsay, Mariah Campbell, as well as Cameron Lindsay were all indicted in this case.
40:22So, that's excellent.
40:23That is excellent.
40:24We're going to have that locked up in the bag.
40:27I try my best to solve all my cases.
40:29It's really a good feeling when you can say, we got these people off the street.
40:51You guys did a great job today in court.
40:54I'm glad I was able to witness that and look at that person in her eyes to let her know
40:59that we are concerned.
41:01I am a concerned parent.
41:02My only son is gone.
41:04My firstborn is gone.
41:06It's gone.
41:07I would never see him again.
41:09Right.
41:09You know, her mother, her father can see her and talk to her over the phone.
41:14I have to go to the graveyard, but my son won't be able to answer back to me.
41:18So, to lose him prematurely like that, innocent bystander, but Chris, he don't...
41:26I know.
41:26You know, he would just love by so many.
41:28To know him is to love him.
41:30Right.
41:30He was a great father of two children, 18 months, and a 12-year-old, which he loved dearly.
41:39And they don't have a father.
41:41Yeah.
41:42They growing up without a father.
41:44We their support system.
41:45We all that they have right now.
41:47Right.
41:48Being an advocate for my son, if he was here, he would say, live in peace.
41:54I am an advocate for Chris as well.
41:56When we investigate homicides, that's how we feel.
41:58We feel that we are the voice of our victims.
42:01Yeah.
42:02Because they're not able to talk.
42:03They're not able to tell the story.
42:05They're not able to say what happened.
42:07So, we are the ones that have to do that narrative for them.
42:11And we are your support.
42:13We're here.
42:13We support you and your family.
42:15And, you know, we just, you know, pray that justice is served as well.
42:20So, this is kind of a hard case.
42:25As far as my victim being an innocent bystander, it's heartbreaking.
42:32It gives our city a black eye sometimes.
42:36But we have a lot of good here.
42:38But I know he's with God.
42:41And he didn't take him away from me.
42:44He received him with open arms because his heart was right.
42:47He did his big brother duty by walking his sisters to the car.
42:51Kissed him on the forehead.
42:53I love you.
42:54I see you tomorrow.
42:55Yeah.
42:56We are grateful that you guys were able to make it.
43:00Yeah.
43:00And we'll be in touch.
43:01We are grateful that you guys were able to make it.
43:10We are grateful that you guys were able to make it.
43:11We are grateful that you guys were able to make it.
