00:17What's the location?
00:19Hi, how you doing?
00:19They have somebody laying on the ground on General Maya.
00:22He's breathing, y'all.
00:23He's breathing.
00:24Oh, my God.
00:27Can y'all see the ambulance?
00:29Yes, girl.
00:29She said he's on the ground dying.
00:36You got him.
00:43No.
00:44No.
00:45No.
00:45All right, no.
00:47Brenard Williams.
00:48I'm sitting up ahead with a man.
00:51Ma'am, can y'all step to the corner, please?
00:54Hello.
00:54I am.
00:55I am.
00:56Hold on.
00:58Hold on, man.
00:59Hold on, man.
00:59That's my mother.
01:00Oh, that's my mother.
01:00No, you just go this way.
01:01Just go this way.
01:03I'm sorry!
01:05I'm sorry!
01:23I'm sorry!
01:26There's a kid who was my decedent, body still on scene, and a large crowd.
01:35So, that's how that goes once I get there.
01:39My first reaction when I hear that there's a juvenile involved, I just think about my
01:44sons, how I try to protect them.
01:47You know, I just think about the family.
01:50You're going to have family members out on scene, and they'll be pretty upset.
01:55This is a kid we're talking about.
01:58Hopefully I can help close this one pretty quicker.
02:11No!
02:15No!
02:16No!
02:16No!
02:17Let me go!
02:19I won't just pull my up!
02:22Damn.
02:24You've got a lot going on, huh?
02:26Family.
02:27Huh?
02:29Oh, definitely.
02:33Everyone's grieving.
02:35I don't want to interrupt them.
02:37I just walk past them, and go straight to the crime scene.
02:41Come on, hold up.
02:42Please tell me that's not young.
02:45Please tell me that's not young.
02:49He is 15 years old.
02:53He's a big.
02:54Right.
02:56So damn young.
02:59So gunshot wound to the back.
03:02Damn.
03:05See that bullet hole that went through that window, you see?
03:08Mm-hmm. Yeah, I see it.
03:13What's the victim's name?
03:15Renard Williams, Jr.
03:18Okay.
03:20Once I got on the scene, I immediately said,
03:23that's a Landry student.
03:26I used to work the detail at his school.
03:29I used to interact with all those little kids.
03:32They called me TD.
03:35The principal arrived on the scene, and he was like,
03:38is that one of ours?
03:40And I had to tell him, yes.
03:43That's one of ours.
03:47Supposedly, him and another kid who he was with
03:49named , who has disappeared out here,
03:53was walking from this way.
03:56Walking this way.
03:57The shot rang out.
03:57Mm-hmm.
03:58They have not located any cases down that way.
04:01Mm-hmm.
04:02But I guess he collapsed right here.
04:04Mm-hmm.
04:05Which would explain a bullet hole in the window.
04:09I wonder if they maybe used a revolver.
04:12Because there are no shell casings near the body,
04:15I initially assumed that the shooter may have used a revolver.
04:19The revolver does not eject any shell casings.
04:23Those casings will remain inside the firearm.
04:26I then began to speculate if he was even shot there.
04:30We didn't even see blood.
04:32I'm like, where's the scene?
04:35So his friend named ,
04:37know where he live at?
04:39We're still trying to find him.
04:41My primary witness, who was with the victim when he was shot,
04:45is no longer at the scene.
04:47So that is definitely a problem.
04:49I needed to speak with him ASAP.
04:51What's up, bro?
04:53What you got?
04:54Oh, listen.
04:54Mm-hmm.
04:56This is what I got.
04:56I got the mama on the phone.
04:58And there's a female.
04:59I don't know who to...
04:59I guess that's his sister.
05:01She got found him.
05:03Okay.
05:04And I'm guessing either the girl or the mama
05:05knows where lives at him.
05:07Okay.
05:08We'll go down there and see what we can do then.
05:10See if we can talk to her.
05:13I do need to find the witness before someone else does.
05:17I don't know if this was intended for him,
05:19or maybe he's afraid.
05:21So I walked over to speak with the mother of the victim.
05:24Of course, she's extremely distraught.
05:28He's not a bad child.
05:29He's not at some location.
05:30He's still.
05:31I promise y'all I'll sit down.
05:34I'm sorry.
05:34Come on.
05:34We can go in the car.
05:36I know this is rough.
05:39From what Raynard's mother is telling me,
05:41it sounds like Raynard was a really good kid.
05:45Normal teenager.
05:46Plays video games.
05:49From there, I find out that before the murder occurred,
05:52he was with his little sister.
05:54I'm learning that Raynard's sister said some girl
05:57that they don't even know came and watched them at track practice.
06:01And then after practice, that girl tried to fight one of her friends.
06:05And Raynard's sister tried to defuse the situation.
06:08But then a dude that girl was with jumped in and kind of started arguing as well.
06:13And that's when everything kicked off.
06:16She called Raynard.
06:17And he left from a friend's house just to come and walk her home,
06:21maybe about four blocks from the crime scene.
06:24When are y'all going to stop?
06:26When are y'all going to feel that nothing's enough, man?
06:29They got the wrong child, man.
06:32You're like a baby.
06:33You're a kid, man.
06:35I'm promising Raynard's mom, at this point forward,
06:38that was going to be my everyday life,
06:41investigating who was behind the murder of our son.
06:46You want to be the key to more information than what we have now?
06:49Mm-hmm.
06:51I just want to get the facts from the surviving witness
06:54and just understand what took place
06:57and what led to his friend being murdered.
06:59Hello? Is this ?
07:01Hey, I need to talk to you. This is Detective Storeway and OPD.
07:04You want to meet me somewhere or I can come to your house?
07:08Okay, where you at?
07:12You're going to have to call your mom right quick.
07:15Listen, were you hit?
07:16Okay, you wasn't hit at all.
07:18What's your address?
07:20Okay. All right. Thanks.
07:24Come on, let's go.
07:30It's always hard working with juveniles.
07:33For a 15-year-old kid to lose their life over an argument,
07:37that his sister possibly had with someone.
07:40It's crazy to me.
07:41I just don't understand how stuff like this happens.
07:45So now we're going to go to the witness's house to talk to him.
07:55Once I get there, he's with his mom, and she allowed me to speak to her son.
08:00When I'm speaking with the witness, he's extremely afraid.
08:03You just watch the friend get murdered.
08:06Of course you're going to be afraid.
08:08The witness tells me that they were at home,
08:12and the victim gets a phone call from his sister.
08:14So he left the house to go and walk her home later.
08:19He began to walk back home on General Meyer,
08:21back to the witness's house.
08:23The witness, he explained to me that as he was walking by bushes,
08:28they realized that someone was shooting at him,
08:30and they ran across the street.
08:32These bushes were an area that we didn't look at for any casing
08:36because it was across the street from where the decedent was found.
08:41Unfortunately, after speaking with the witness,
08:43he did not know who or why someone even shot at him.
08:58Right now, we're going to go back where he said that he heard the shot set
09:00to see if we can find some casings.
09:03Because right now, we don't even have that.
09:06We're just trying to see, like, if we can figure out
09:08where the shots were fired from.
09:17These are the bushes right here that he's talking about, I guess.
09:24It's extremely important that we get everything right
09:26on that crime scene.
09:28We only get one shot at it.
09:31Damn.
09:39Look at that.
09:43We found a flashlight to a firearm.
09:45We need someone out there to come and collect it
09:47and swab it for DNA.
09:48Careful.
09:50No gun anywhere?
09:55Ready?
09:56Yep.
09:57Can I come?
10:08No gun.
10:09No gun.
10:10No gun.
10:11No gun.
10:12No gun.
10:13No gun.
10:15No gun.
10:16Oh, yeah, yeah.
10:18We need to wonder.
10:19So it's all starting to make sense?
10:22It was right.
10:23Right.
10:24As soon as they passed.
10:26Came from around the bush.
10:27And then they probably ran that way.
10:29Drive the damn flashlight.
10:31He should have had them running across the street.
10:33Mm-hmm.
10:35We started working this investigation with nothing.
10:38We've been out there for hours now.
10:39And now we got a flashlight from possibly the suspect's pistol
10:43that may have DNA.
10:45And also some shrapnel that Tiani found.
10:48And that's a huge win.
10:50It really is a team effort when working on homicide.
10:54I was sure that there was going to be something else.
10:56My main goal was to just keep going until we find more.
11:02Oh, yeah, dude.
11:03Look at that.
11:05One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
11:13Keep going.
11:16This is actually our crime scene.
11:18All these casings are from the perpetrator's gun.
11:22And they look like 9mm casings.
11:26Of course, yeah.
11:28.
11:28Yeah.
11:32When I heard that Bernard and his friend
11:34was shot at about 14 times,
11:36I immediately start thinking,
11:37it's overkill and it's also reckless.
11:41We're going to do everything we can
11:42to find out who did this.
12:02I would like to describe my son,
12:05Renard Williams Jr. as intelligent,
12:08outstanding, hilarious.
12:11I wanted him not just to see New Orleans.
12:14I wanted him to see the whole world.
12:17And I never imagined spending my life without my son.
12:23Renard was a good child, loving child.
12:27Renard would give you the shirt off his back.
12:30You know, that's just the type of child he was.
12:33He was real humble.
12:35And family was everything for him.
12:39Renard is my oldest brother.
12:42That's like my twin.
12:45Well, we call each other twins.
12:48He was very protective of me.
12:50He got to be at school earlier than me,
12:52but he leave out the dough to make sure I'm good
12:55and make sure I get out the house straight.
12:57So every morning, I'd be like, I love you.
12:59Be safe.
13:01He was my role model.
13:03I just miss him.
13:05This is my other hand.
13:07This is my whole heart.
13:09I need him more than he knows.
13:11I need him.
13:12I can't do this without him.
13:14He don't know that.
13:18Renard was my world.
13:20I never imagined living without him.
13:23You know, I always thought I would go before them, you know?
13:30What could he do to you to make you want to harm him?
13:33I want to know a motive.
13:35I want to know why.
13:36I want to know, was it worth it?
13:38We need to figure out what happened.
13:40What led up to this?
13:51Definitely sympathize with the parents because this is something that could have easily been avoided.
13:57I mean, I don't understand how kids, like, the first thing they think to do is grab a gun and
14:01shoot at someone just for a petty argument.
14:04The problem with the juvenile situation down here in the city, I think, is we lost the programs that we
14:10had in place to kind of keep them busy.
14:13And they're just pretty much running the streets.
14:17New Orleans was actually the first of its kind.
14:19It had, like, recreational development for kids at parks.
14:24When I was a kid, I used to play a lot at Shakespeare Park.
14:28I loved it.
14:31Now, I have two boys.
14:32One is 16, one is 14, and I have an 11-year-old daughter.
14:37So, definitely an eye-opener, like, what's going on in the streets and everything.
14:41And just, you know, it makes you look at your kids differently, like, you want to keep them close.
14:47Especially with my line of work.
14:53So, where'd you find the caissons at?
14:55Because when I left last night, you had the projectile up there.
14:59The flashlight was right here.
15:02So, I think what happened was, and they started shooting about right here, because it's in line with the window
15:07that was shot right there.
15:09So, I think they kept shooting at them.
15:11And as they were shooting, they were moving.
15:13And that's where the caissons ended up, like, right here in the line.
15:17So, I think after they shot them, they had to take off and run this way, because it ejects to
15:23the right.
15:24And they're possibly moving this way.
15:28So, what I want to do is walk this way and see if we have any surveillance video.
15:34All right. Let's see.
15:41How you doing?
15:42I see you have cameras, and I want to know if I can take a look at your cameras.
15:47There you go.
15:50I need some good cameras.
15:52Yeah, they are.
15:53That's facing that way. Okay.
15:56That's the backyard.
15:58The good thing is we found out that this camera actually had sound.
16:15The bad thing is, once the vehicle got to their cameras, it kind of glitched and went by.
16:20But it looks like a red vehicle speeding down the street.
16:24They were flying.
16:26This is extremely surprising to me, because at first I thought that this was a juvenile.
16:30Now I'm looking at an adult possibly involved, because they're driving a car.
16:36This is a huge lead in the case, because it's easier to track a car than tracks someone on foot.
16:41I appreciate it.
16:42I appreciate it.
16:42You guys have a nice day.
16:46This is a decent start to tracking a perpetrator's car, because now I have an idea of his route that
16:51he took after the homicide.
16:52I love tracking cars. Pretty good at it.
16:55I'll give you that.
16:57If I track this car, this is definitely going to lead me to my alleged perpetrator.
17:00Yeah.
17:21I'll give you that one.
17:24Let's go see.
17:28What a nuisance.
17:30who had surveillance footage.
17:32So, me and Charlie are going back today to re-canvas.
17:36What's up, bro?
17:38I did find someone who was outside.
17:40I talked to him.
17:42He told me that he heard several gunshots.
17:45I just saw an orange car.
17:47Was it like a sports car?
17:48Yeah, orange and black.
17:50Which way it went at?
17:52That way.
17:53When the witness told me that he saw
17:55an orange and black sports car,
17:56I was thinking back to the surveillance footage
17:58that I got, which showed a red vehicle
18:01speeding down the street.
18:03As soon as I heard the shot,
18:05it was so loud, I knew it had to be close.
18:08And then, like, I still heard shots
18:11as I'm looking out the door.
18:12It had an orange car parked
18:14like a little right here.
18:16OK.
18:17But I didn't see nobody running to the car.
18:19Right.
18:19But if they found bullets here,
18:22that mean that car had to do something.
18:23Right, it had to be involved.
18:24Yeah.
18:26At this point, I don't have any description
18:28of the alleged suspect.
18:29But someone is in an orange or red car.
18:32I don't up about it, because that was a child.
18:35Yeah, yeah.
18:35He was young.
18:36He was a kid.
18:39Renard was just an innocent kid.
18:42So I'm really trying to work hard
18:44to find out who did this.
18:46Well, I appreciate you, man.
18:47All right.
18:48You too.
18:49I hope so, man.
18:53So the car flies past here.
18:55Yeah.
18:56Go straight down to Odeon.
18:57There's an RTCC camera right there.
18:59So if it's slowed down, I should have
19:01a pretty good shot of that car
19:02if they have something out there.
19:04Nah, let's go see.
19:05Yeah, let's run to real-time crime center
19:07just to see, like, what that camera have.
19:10Nah.
19:16The first few days is all about getting video
19:18before anything is erased, potentially,
19:21and kind of start piecing that together.
19:26Because of my background and where I'm from,
19:30I feel like I am able to see both sides of the story
19:32better than others.
19:34Yeah, I'm like an Honorary Hood member.
19:36You know what I'm saying?
19:38I love Uptown.
19:40I miss Uptown.
19:42That was my area growing up.
19:46A lot of people will think that police
19:48don't go through the things that they go through.
19:52But I dealt with some of the same things early on
19:55as a kid with family members being shot.
19:59When I was eight, I was with my dad
20:01when he was shot and killed.
20:03But the thing is, we can't let that affect our jobs,
20:06and you don't use that as an excuse.
20:34We're looking for cameras on Odeon.
20:42Oh, look, there they go.
20:44You saw them?
20:45Yeah.
20:46Yeah, that's definitely them.
20:48So at 828, you can see,
20:51a lot of seeing him still in his school uniform,
20:53walking down General Meyer with his friend.
20:57That's at 828, so that's where they'd already walked the sister.
21:01Right.
21:02OK, let me go back.
21:07There they go.
21:10So this is about 10 minutes before.
21:14Maybe somebody, like, drove past him, looked at him.
21:17Maybe, I don't know, slowed up.
21:21Something that was missing.
21:26Oh, look.
21:28See it?
21:30Yeah.
21:32Raynard turned left on Odeon.
21:35And about a minute later, at about 8, 17 PM,
21:40I see the red sports car cuts across a lane of traffic,
21:45almost getting to an accident, and follows behind him.
21:49This is where Raynard starts to walk around.
21:52He started being followed.
21:53So you think it was looking for him earlier?
21:56It probably was, yeah.
21:58They had to be stalking him.
22:00They had to know, like, when they left.
22:02I think they spotted them, maybe, walking,
22:05and was in this lane, turned and went behind him,
22:09sat there and waited on him.
22:11And so when they started walking again,
22:14and knew, like, what route they were going to take,
22:16you know, to get back home, so they went and posted up
22:20and waited for him, kind of ambushed him.
22:25It is disturbing to see a vehicle following these
22:27teenagers, because they had no clue what was about to happen.
22:32From there, I start looking at all the surveillance cameras
22:36that surround the crime scene, trying
22:37to find out where this car went after the homicide.
22:43Well, look.
22:45It looks like a car.
22:47What time is that?
22:488.31.
22:49So right after, the homicide happens.
22:52Yeah.
22:56It just doesn't give me anything right here.
23:02I mean, I'm at 8.32.
23:04Nothing comes underneath this camera.
23:12After the homicide, we tracked the car to the arm house.
23:18And then we couldn't find anything else on it.
23:21Tracking his car, it comes to a halt.
23:26I know it's a sad situation, but it's almost like a game.
23:29You want to find out who these people are and find out where they went.
23:34치往is of the car is going in, right?
23:35And I'll sit there for hours to do it.
23:42The
24:05How y'all doing?
24:06You working?
24:07Yeah.
24:07You know who I can talk to about reviewing the cameras?
24:10At the pumps.
24:11When did he win?
24:1218.
24:13Monday, between 8.05 and 8.15 p.m.
24:17Let's grab your laptop, make sure we get it so we don't have to bother these guys.
24:20We appreciate you.
24:21Yeah, thank you.
24:22Thank you all.
24:26All right, so, let me see.
24:30Hopefully we got the red car.
24:35Ah, what kind of car is that?
24:39Looks like an Audi, and it has damage to it.
24:42Oh, this is great.
24:46Fast forward a little bit.
24:49He gets out.
24:52See, he has a phone in his hands.
24:55He looks like he's talking to someone.
24:58I see a male who seems to be, like, late teens, early 20s, skinny build.
25:04But I can't clearly see his face because he's wearing a hoodie.
25:07And I can't see a license plate.
25:10It's about 8.09, which was minutes before the murder happened.
25:15The murder happened at about 8.30.
25:18And then he heads back to Odeon, which is where he saw the kids at or whatever.
25:22And then he turned.
25:24So, perfect.
25:25This is huge.
25:29I put out an N.O.P.D. Bolo to law enforcement for any red Tudor or Audi that has
25:36damage to the front pass and the side bumper, black rims, and dark tinted windows.
25:41I mean, that car should be easy to find.
25:56So, we have a database that's called Field Interview Cards, FICs.
26:01Whenever officers come into contact with anyone, like even if it's on a traffic stop, it has their information.
26:08So, I ran Field Interview Cards for red Audis and came up with one that resides maybe a little over
26:16a mile from the crime scene.
26:18It's kind of like a shot in the dark.
26:20I'm throwing up a Hail Mary right now at this point.
26:25At this point, the car could be totally burned up or abandoned somewhere, but we're still going to go and
26:30look for it.
26:32It's crazy because every red car I see now is like...
26:35Every one, I know.
26:36Even driving around this past weekend back here, I'm like looking at cars, like...
26:40Oh, no, that one doesn't have rims.
26:44Right there.
26:46Cadillac.
26:48Not our car, though.
26:49God damn it.
27:00Holy s**t.
27:04That's the s**t car.
27:09Black rims.
27:12Damage.
27:16See if you can get a plate on that.
27:22Temp tag.
27:27Expiration.
27:28Looks like 0918.
27:32That's a fake plate.
27:34Hey, what's up?
27:36Nothing much.
27:37Good.
27:38Funny how this works.
27:39So I just told you about this car and we passed on s**t and found it.
27:43It's parked in a driveway.
27:45Uh-huh.
27:45So I just wanted to see if somebody could maybe do a traffic stop.
27:48I'm going to call Ray Jones and see if he has some units available to maybe do a takedown on
27:52it or something like that.
27:53But it's definitely the car that I've been looking for.
27:55Or it has the damage and everything.
27:57I call for backup because at this point I do need some mark units.
28:01Because no one is going to stop for me.
28:03I'm driving a black Charger.
28:04You know, if I try to light it up, then he's probably just going to speed off.
28:08I'm going to try to see who this dude is and why this s**t happened.
28:35Oh, here's a guy coming.
28:37Looked like he's getting in a car.
28:42He's pulling out.
28:45He's moving.
28:48It went down wheels to General Meyer.
28:51I'm just getting ready to pull on to General Meyer.
28:53All right.
28:55Give me that car.
28:59We're looking at this person for a murder.
29:01We just can't allow this person to speed away from us.
29:04And we not try to do whatever we can to get this person into custody.
29:09He's right there in his left line.
29:11Oh, he's just getting in.
29:12He's getting in.
29:13Go ahead.
29:13You got it.
29:14You got it.
29:14Go, go.
29:14Take it.
29:15Take it.
29:19This is perfect.
29:21Light him up.
29:30He's all right.
29:30He's all right.
29:45He's running the light.
29:49Vehicle crash out.
29:51Oh, wow.
29:59Stay down, bro.
30:00Stay down.
30:01Wow.
30:03You can wipe my feet off, bro.
30:05Come on.
30:05They got hands on me, bro.
30:06Look, just chill out.
30:08I've seen a lot of things before, working homicide, but I've never seen anything like that.
30:13This is probably one of the most chaotic scenes I've ever been on.
30:19Yeah, bro.
30:22It's out your head, bro.
30:23Yes, it really is.
30:26My perpetrator's eyeball is hanging out of his head.
30:28I'm trying not to panic because I don't want him to panic, and then I hear kids screaming
30:33from another vehicle and just trying to get control of that scene.
30:38Party 161, do you have EMS coming towards Cable Drive and McArthur?
30:43Got to do it in custody.
30:44He hit, like, a car with some kids.
30:46It's a bad 20.
30:49The vehicle that was struck was an unmarked police vehicle, and in that vehicle was a
30:53sex crimes detective and her kids.
30:56So now I'm working extremely hard trying to make sure I get them the care they need and
31:00try to get them transported to the hospital.
31:03Are those kids over?
31:04Yes, they're all good.
31:05All right.
31:05All right.
31:07Come over here.
31:09What's your first name?
31:12Spell that for me.
31:13KY, M-A, and I.
31:15What's your last name?
31:16Wyatt.
31:17How old are you, bro?
31:1821.
31:21Right now I'm feeling a huge relief that I finally found out who was driving that car.
31:25But of course the most important thing was getting him some treatment as well for his eye.
31:44So right now I want to do a search warrant on his house.
31:47Oh, it has to be.
31:49I mean, he took off.
31:49So, I mean, and he fits the build of the guy who was in the car that night.
31:55And this is definitely the car.
31:58He also threw a gun.
32:00But Officer Vicks, he picked it up off the ground.
32:04All right.
32:04Bye.
32:05Did you see him toss the gun?
32:07Oh, yeah.
32:08He got out.
32:08He held like this and he did that.
32:10And then I saw it go throwing him down.
32:13Kimani Wyatt threw a .40 caliber pistol after he crashed his car.
32:18But that's not the same caliber as cases that were on my scene.
32:22The murder weapon is actually a 9mm.
32:25So, at this point, I don't have enough to charge Kimani for the homicide of Renard.
32:31But for now, we do have our alleged perpetrator off the streets while we continue working this case.
32:37So, got the search warrant for the car right here.
32:42I'll swap that blood right down the outside.
32:44Okay.
32:47I see that phone right there, too.
32:50Finding Kimani's cell phone is extremely important because I'm able to do a search warrant on it.
32:56And that'll possibly tie him to the crime scene.
33:00Anything in that trunk?
33:02I'm hoping that I find more evidence that will help with the investigation.
33:08Hey, maybe he left a murder weapon in there.
33:10That would be nice.
33:15There's nothing in there.
33:18Now, I had to do a search warrant at Kimani Wyatt's house where the red Audi was seen,
33:24looking for any evidence that can tie Kimani Wyatt back to the crime scene.
33:29I'm just proofreading this warrant, I'm going to send this off and we good to go.
33:39With the search warrant, we're just looking for any firearms, possible clothing that ties
33:43them back to that night that the homicide happened.
34:07During the search warrant, I didn't really find anything, so still don't have the murder
34:11weapon, but I do have the cart, which was a big piece of the puzzle, and now I have to
34:17start putting together some of the smaller things, like cell phone information and stuff
34:21like that.
34:24So I'm going to go down here and see if I can talk to Kimani Wyatt, see if we can
34:28get
34:28a statement from him.
34:30Can't predict what's going to happen, though, in this line of work, so just got to roll with
34:34it.
35:02I don't feel a connection.
35:04A confession is necessary to get a conviction from Kimani.
35:06The case is circumstantial, but I have Kimani Wyatt's vehicle.
35:11Now all I need to do is place him on that scene during the homicide with his cell phone records.
35:17Those phone records are important.
35:18They can prove that Kimani was in that car tonight at the homicide and was following the
35:24kids and can show where he fled after the homicide.
35:30If I don't get these phone records back quickly, it's possible that Kimani Wyatt can post bail
35:35and skip town, but there's no way I'm going to let that happen.
36:00Today, I met with FBI and the phone records for my case from March put the red out of it,
36:08and I'm going to let that happen.
36:10That's great.
36:12That's great.
36:13That's good information.
36:13Good information.
36:14Good information.
36:15Right when he leaves the gas station at 814, his phone is traveling towards a crime scene.
36:24Kimani was possibly called by one of the kids that were having an argument with my victim's sister, and they
36:31led him to the location of where Renard and his sister were walking.
36:37And then I see him turn on Odeon at about 817.
36:42The phone also turns in that direction, and then he kind of stays in that area until about 830.
36:48Then I got him coming down to General Meyer.
36:50He makes a right on Merle, and he sits there, waits for Renard and his friends to arrive.
36:58And that's when a murder happens.
37:00Wow.
37:02With these phone records, I think I have enough, too, to go ahead and charge him with that murder.
37:07Right now, I'm just trying to figure out how did Kimani, the 21-year-old, become involved.
37:14The only thing that I know is that Renard's sister was in a verbal altercation with someone else that she
37:20didn't even know.
37:21Did the person she was involved in the argument with know Kimani and call them?
37:25I mean, that's what I'm guessing.
37:28Despite not knowing why this all happened, I think all of the evidence points towards Kimani Wyatt.
37:33So, that's it.
37:34Good job, buddy. Good job.
37:35Thanks. Appreciate it.
37:36We only had lemons, and now we got lemonade.
37:41The phone records were definitely the missing piece that I needed to write the second-degree murder warrant for Kimani
37:47Wyatt for the homicide of Renard Williams, Jr.
38:09We're going to speak with our victim's mom, Ms. Robinson.
38:13She gave me an address on Fair Street, which is the same address that I had as a kid growing
38:18up, so...
38:19Really?
38:20Yeah.
38:20Like, the same block, right?
38:21No, exact same address.
38:23That's crazy.
38:24When I saw that address, I was like, wow, damn.
38:29When I was eight, my dad was shot at this address.
38:33It was my first time going back there.
38:37I never wanted to go back there, but I think it was extremely wild.
38:42Everything comes full circle.
38:53Damn, this is crazy.
38:58That was a corner store.
39:00Remember, I got a jump right there.
39:04As a kid, this block looked a lot longer than what it was, bro.
39:09I remember my dad was shot.
39:11We were all outside.
39:13I remember he laid, like, right here, and I took off down the street.
39:18I ran from the perpetrator into that last house on the corner.
39:23A lady, she was outside her door, and I just dove right between her legs.
39:29Damn, I remember a lot of .
39:35How y'all doing?
39:36Hey, guys.
39:38I was coming just to talk to you.
39:40Of course, that's why I scheduled this visit.
39:42And, of course, everything started moving last night.
39:45And so, great news.
39:47I was able to book him with the murder.
39:54I'm so happy I can do this for you.
39:55I'm so happy.
39:57I don't have nothing bad to say about N.O.P.
40:00They did their job.
40:02I'm so happy.
40:04And y'all was working.
40:06Y'all was working.
40:10When Detective Stewart told me about the murder charges,
40:12I was very excited.
40:14I thank everybody for the love, the support.
40:19Detective Stewart made a promise.
40:21He said he wasn't going to stop.
40:22He asked me to be patient with him, and I've been patient with him.
40:26I did want to bring you some closure.
40:28I hope it helped.
40:30Funny story about this address.
40:33Yeah, so, um...
40:33You made it fast.
40:35How you doing?
40:37When you sent me this address, I hit up my brother,
40:40and I was like, bro, what was our address?
40:42So, I used to live at this address as a kid growing up.
40:46I used to live here, yeah.
40:48To bring you back to this neighborhood,
40:50and I'm staying in the same house.
40:53Right.
40:53This was all meant to be put together, man.
40:56Yeah.
40:57What happened?
40:58They got the boy.
41:00They got him.
