A serving Metropolitan Police officer and four former officers are being investigated over their handling of allegations of sexual abuse made against Mohamed Al Fayed, according to reports.

00:00The Independent Office for Police Conduct has recently launched a probe into a serving metropolitan police officer
00:07and four former officers for potential misconduct,
00:11following complaints against the former Harrods owner, Mohamed Al-Fayed, who died in 2023, aged 94.
00:21More than 400 allegations of sexual misconduct have been made against Mr. Al-Fayed,
00:27dating back to 1977.
00:30The IOPC confirmed the investigation into the officers, which was launched in January 2025,
00:38related to reports made against Al-Fayed by four people.
00:43In a statement, the IOPC said the investigation,
00:46which is being carried out by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards,
00:51under their direction and control, involves reports made by four victim survivors.
00:56In March, the Metropolitan Police said a man in his 60s was interviewed under caution
01:01over allegations of human trafficking and facilitating rape in connection with the investigation into Al-Fayed.
01:09It came after three women were quizzed by detectives between 25 February and 5 March,
01:17also on suspicion of aiding and abetting rape and sexual assault,
01:22assisting the commission of sexual offences and human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
