Londoners talk about crime in London as Met Police under fire for hiring practices

Londoners have given their thoughts on crime in the city - just as the Metropolitan Police have come under fire for supposedly hiring 1000 officers without checking references

00:00I actually feel safe because I'm aware and I have no problem to talk to people and pay

00:08attention. If I see something wrong, I'm going to pay attention. If I see someone about to fall,

00:13I'm going to hand them the hand. I'm going to greet people. I'm going to look at people. I

00:16have no problem to approach people, as I said, because I cook to people and I approach to people.

00:23I think being socialized, it's very, very important. So if I see something wrong,

00:28I'm going to pay attention for other people and I'm going to ask what's the reason or how can I

00:32help, you know? So I specific feel safe. And when people say like, I don't feel safe, I think they

00:39should understand there is nothing specific against them. It's in generalized crime is

00:44generalized. It's really rare. It's specific to someone, you know. I'm a guy, so it's not so bad,

00:52but I feel for the women of London. And I think at the moment, the police haven't got the powers

01:03to stop it. They, you know, they're too, shall I say, I mean, I think they're too liberal at the

01:12moment. They're not able to to control crime because they're too, you know, restricted in

01:23what they do and say. I don't know anyone who work in the police, so it's a bit hard for me

01:28to criticize them. I think in some of the time they deal with something so stupid because during

01:35COVID, for example, when I was in Battersea Park, there was policing people with the bicycle,

01:41with the bike. But on the other hand, they went to some places and they said like, this is wrong

01:47to drink here and they don't actually deal with the crime. So I think sometimes they may be dealing

01:53the wrong stuff. So if my friend's restaurant has been broken and he called the police and there is

01:59no people, but then there is people in the park policing people on a bicycle, I think it's a bit

02:05prioritized, a bit funny. So for me, if I see a police officer, he's the police. And when you say

02:11I don't have people, but I don't know how they are, I see them eating doughnuts somewhere.

02:15So I don't know, you know, like in the end of the day, they're dealing with it. They prioritize

02:21if they're doing right or wrong. I don't know. I think the police should be policing and they

02:27shouldn't have, you know, they should be policing for everyone. It doesn't matter what creed,

02:35what race, what religion, what gender. It's general, you know. And I think sometimes they

02:44don't do the right thing. I love London and I love coming around here. But I think

02:53everyone should feel safe and enjoy this wonderful city.
