- 1988 Technos / Taito arcade video game U.S. Championship V'Ball contains a possible future easter egg to Max Headroom (1985) TV series actor Matt Frewer's role as Jobe in sci-fi film Lawnmower 2: Beyond Cyberspace (1996).
- Match 4 of the volleyball game is set in Los Angeles and a character which may be an homage to the sc-fi TV Presenter Avatar appears on a video screen in the background.
- On the left hand side of the screen a "Superman" like character (blue tights and a red cape) appears seated on the hood of a hot rod.
- Technos Japan also created the Double Dragon ('87) video game series.
- 1994 Live Action Double Dragon movie stars Robert Patrick as villain Koga Shuko. He was the T1000 in T2 Termiantor 2: Judgement Day in 1991.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger, known for his role in The Terminator series parodied his over-the-top action roles in Last Action Hero (1993).
- Austin O'Brien plays a star struck fan sucked into a real life movie in this and was later in Lawnmower Man 2 with Frewer.
- Double Dragon street fighters Billy & Jimmy are playable characters in the 1989 NES / Famicom version of Super Spike V'Ball.
- The arcade cabinet for U.S. Championship V'Ball can be seen in the 1994 live action Double Dragon movie.
