00:05In your expert opinion, can you break down and describe the injury that you see in this video?
00:11You see here OG going up, landing, and he's already kind of reaching for that back thigh area.
00:18He starts running, and you can see him kind of coming up short and reaching again for that back thigh.
00:23Now, given that he's still walking backwards here, he's feeling good enough to call for the ball.
00:28I don't think it's like a grade three full tear of any kind of muscle.
00:33And again, with the caveat that I'm not able to examine and physically put my hands on OG, see the
00:39MRI report,
00:40it does look like a mild proximal hamstring injury, okay?
00:44So a hamstring injury, which is very common in athletes.
00:46How would you treat or advise a non-professional athlete that comes into your office with the same injury?
00:53But for patients who aren't NBA athletes with a hamstring strain, again, it depends on the grade of strain.
00:59But definitely a period of rest, icing, active recovery, getting them into rehab.
01:04And as long as it's not a grade three full thickness tendon tear, we're getting them into physical therapy.
01:09We're getting them recovering, active recovery, and hoping for a return to athletic activities.
01:14Typically by four to six weeks, it's a pretty bad partial tear, maybe sometimes up to three months, just to
01:20avoid re-injury.
