00:00What's his rehab been like for Liz Frank during these last eight months?
00:05And where should Micah be on his timeline to get back on the field?
00:10So the biggest thing after any sort of foot or ankle injury
00:13is getting that ankle range of motion back.
00:15He probably spent the next couple months really working on that.
00:19Then he would progress to strengthening all of the muscles around the foot,
00:22your calf, your extensors, even your headstrings, your quads up to your hip.
00:26So at eight months, he's probably finishing off doing non-contact stuff
00:30and probably getting ready to start doing more real game scrimmaging.
00:34Let's say you do have a patient that's not a professional athlete with Liz Frank.
00:39How would you treat that patient?
00:40Liz Frank's come in two varieties.
00:42There's the type that McFadden had, which is high energy twisting injury.
00:47That's the type that football players often get.
00:49Their foot gets planted and stuck and then rotated forcefully,
00:53causing that injury in the foot.
00:55The more common variety is what your everyday patient gets.
00:58Those are usually also extremely high energy injuries,
01:02but they're from things like a car running over your foot
01:04or a fall from height with your foot getting planted in a difficult way.
01:08So for non-athletes who usually have that more crush variety,
01:12they still get the same treatment, you know, depending upon surgery or no surgery,
01:16depending upon how stable the injury is.
01:18But it's a brutal recovery with months of non-weight bearing,
01:21you know, surgery if it's not stable.
01:23So they get the same overall treatment, but probably a slower recovery.
01:27So there's a lot of people that have that same history.
