00:00Hey hey hey, it's time for another edition of the Cheekly Recap.
00:03I'm your host Chom, and I'm here to go a bit deeper into the topics that I've covered in my
00:07shorts.
00:08The footage behind is from the game Diablo 4, Lord of Hatred.
00:12Let's get the show on the road.
00:14The first topic of the day is all about Mass Effect Andromeda.
00:18It might not be perfect, but was it treated fairly?
00:22Spoiler alert, it was.
00:24The voice of Ryder reveals what really went wrong behind the scenes,
00:27and why the game deserves a second look.
00:30And trust me, when I say this, I gave this game more than second look.
00:34I played it three times, from start to finish.
00:37And if you are a Mass Effect fan, and you were expecting something along the lines of the original trilogy,
00:42save your money, save your time.
00:45This isn't it.
00:46And let me be clear about this whole situation.
00:49I understand this person is going to defend what he made, and more power to him.
00:54However, his opinion about this situation, or anyone's opinion when they make something,
01:00is probably going to be very subjective.
01:02At the end of the day, if it wasn't, there wouldn't be any passion about the project,
01:06and it wouldn't go as planned.
01:07You know, all that kind of shit.
01:09However, that ain't my problem, buddy.
01:11I say it like I see it.
01:14And again, I played the game three times.
01:17I know exactly what the issues with the game are.
01:20And not to mention, we had that article from Jason Schreier,
01:23where he outlined all the problems that Andromeda went during the development process.
01:29So once again, I will be very straight about the issues that Andromeda has,
01:33but also I will outline what was good with that game.
01:36So let's start with the good stuff, which essentially there is only one thing that's kind of good,
01:41which is the combat.
01:42If the combat in that game was bad, and to be honest, it was very hard to make it bad,
01:47because you had the Mass Effect trilogy combat behind it, especially from Mass Effect 3,
01:52and you just had to kind of innovate a bit, and that's what they actually did.
01:55They introduced the jetpack, and you get this strange, weird, amazing almost mobility
02:01that kind of fits okay-ish with the whole formula.
02:04And if not for the combat, I don't think I would be playing the game any more than I actually
02:10played.
02:11But then there are the bad parts, which there is plenty of those.
02:15For starters, the story is a complete mess.
02:18The characters, that is the companions, are so annoying and obnoxious.
02:22I literally could not connect with any of them, because they were just there to tick these
02:27woke social justice boxes in order to make a character.
02:32I mean, come on, man.
02:33If you have a character that immediately says he or she is gay,
02:37and that's your point of identity, then you know the shit is bad.
02:41You don't make a compelling character like that.
02:44You don't write them like that, because it's not going to be a compelling character.
02:47Case and point.
02:48Then you have the whole exploration, which was annoying, and all those silly quests
02:52where you need to kill same enemies for a gazillion times in order to complete the said quests.
02:57The UI and crafting was also not that great.
03:00Then we have the facial animations, which were completely ridiculous.
03:04Even if you wanted to get immersed into the whole character and storyline situation,
03:09you just couldn't, because people were rolling eyes at you for no particular reason other than they could.
03:15And it's all about because the facial animations were fucked.
03:19So once again, you don't even have to play the game.
03:22You can only read the article made by our boy Schreier to see what kind of development hell Andromeda was.
03:30And trust me, nothing can come out of that that's remotely good.
03:34And the product of that particular development process, which is Mass Effect Andromeda,
03:39clearly showcases its problems during that particular phase.
03:44So I'm sorry, Mr. Voice of Rider, or whatever the hell your name is,
03:49but your claims are simply retarded.
03:51If the guy had an ounce of brain before actually speaking about these things,
03:56he would be something like, you know, moderate, saying like,
03:59ah, you know, we didn't hit all the marks, but we did our best and this and that.
04:03But instead of blaming the real people, which were the developers,
04:07not making the game like it should have been made,
04:09or I could even say that the game shouldn't have been made in the first place
04:13because the whole situation feels rushed and half-baked,
04:17then I would be like, okay, you know, he's just a bit passionate, stuff like that.
04:21But when I read what he was saying in the article, it's just completely asinine.
04:24Just check this particular quote.
04:26It says,
04:49I think this kinda explains everything that you need to hear from this particular gentleman.
04:54And the best course of action is just to ignore this particular person.
04:58I don't think I wanna be stuck with a pig in the mud,
05:02and the pig loves the mud,
05:03and I'm just getting muddy all over the place trying to prove my point.
05:06We are just going to let this be, as is.
05:10But again, I still feel the need to emphasize how dumb certain people are.
05:14I guess this is the world we live in today.
05:17And it's very fucking sad.
05:19And speaking about sad things,
05:21And by the way, never in my wildest dreams,
05:24I thought that I would be talking negatively about Blood of Dawnwalker.
05:28But the system requirements they have released for the game are just atrocious.
05:33You see, they have this dev stream,
05:35where they said that they're going to release the game on September the 3rd.
05:39And on that stream, they showcase gameplay, systems, and story elements.
05:44And the game looks much closer to launch than expected.
05:47And the elements that I was witnessing were tremendous.
05:51They were amazing.
05:52I actually was enjoying the whole dev stream.
05:55And then they dropped the system requirements.
05:58And for me, the hype, even if I didn't have it,
06:01but let's just say the hype just died down.
06:03Now, for reference, I play at 1080p.
06:06And generally, I don't really give a shit how the game looks like.
06:10In this day and age, it's very hard to make a game that looks ugly,
06:13unless you have this specific art style or something like that.
06:16But generally speaking, everybody's trying to do that photorealism thing.
06:21So yeah, it's not that difficult to make a good-looking game.
06:24But like I said, when you check the system requirements, it's completely bonkers.
06:29If you want to play at native 1080p with 60fps,
06:33you need to have AMD Ryzen 9 7900X,
06:3816GB of RAM,
06:39and NVIDIA RTX 5060,
06:43which is 12GB of RAM.
06:45Okay, maybe you want to go a bit lower.
06:48In that case, you would need something like AMD Ryzen 7 3700X for your CPU,
06:5516GB of RAM,
06:56and NVIDIA's RTX 3050 with 6GB of VRAM.
07:01I don't know what these people are thinking.
07:03If they ever saw the average hardware that Steam user has,
07:08it's nowhere near this.
07:10Let me tell you that.
07:11And if you want your game to reach as many people as possible,
07:14because again, this is a new studio,
07:16they want that hype in order to make, let's say, a sequel or something like that,
07:20you would think they would lower these presets
07:24so most of the people can play it at least on low.
07:27But apparently, that's not the case.
07:29Why?
07:30I have no fucking clue.
07:31I can only speculate.
07:32The first speculation that I have in mind is that the game is just blatantly not optimized.
07:38It's one of those Unreal Engine 5 games,
07:40and we've seen in the past what happens with them.
07:43They're basically trying to overcompensate or overcome the issue with lack of optimization
07:48by overtuning the required settings or system requirements.
07:52And imagine this, having a barely over a year old card listed in the requirements
07:57is something completely different.
07:59Also, I would point out that the game doesn't look something spectacular-like.
08:04If you want to push these types of specs,
08:07you would at least expect them to showcase some kind of amazing next-gen graphics,
08:13but that was not the case.
08:14The game looks okay.
08:16As far as I'm concerned, nothing extra.
08:18So I don't know why are they doing this in the sense that, you know, again,
08:23we need these types of specs because the looks of the game do not warrant this particular situation.
08:29Now, there was a little disclaimer down there saying that you can use DLSS and all that bullshit,
08:33but still, it's still a shit fest no matter how I look at this.
08:37So yeah, I wouldn't be very optimistic about me playing the game unless they do something in the meantime.
08:44I mean, September is still way off.
08:46They might do something in order to, let's say, lessen the system requirements.
08:51But as far as I'm concerned, a 12GB VRAM for 1080p 60fps is just unacceptable.
08:58And it's really a shame because I was really expecting to play this
09:02and to experience this new system that they have in-game with, you know, time management and all that stuff.
09:09But it seems to me that right now, if nothing changes, I will probably give a pass to this game.
09:15I might just go and buy it and test it on my system to see what's going on.
09:19But at the end of the day, it's kind of likely that I will just refund it because I won't
09:24be able to run it
09:25since, again, the system requirements are retarded as fuck.
09:28Who knows?
09:29Maybe I'll go back to playing at 720p because I cannot play it on 1080p.
09:33And that's going to be an interesting thing.
09:34I do need to point out that I was planning on upgrading my PC, but that's mostly reserved for the
09:41games like The Witcher 4.
09:42In my mind, that's the one game that's going to push the graphical fidelity to the max.
09:47And accordingly, I want to have a rig that can support this.
09:51So it's going to be so hilarious if The Witcher 4 system requirements are going to be lower than the
09:58blood of Dandwalker requirements.
10:00I guess we just have to wait and see when the actual Witcher 4 official system requirements hit the public.
10:07But yeah, that's definitely going to be a funny one.
10:10And speaking about funny things, apparently Black Flag Resynced is removing Hidden Blade as a weapon.
10:17The Resynced version is making another major change, and this time to the Hidden Blade.
10:22Ubisoft confirmed it won't be a selectable weapon anymore, instead becoming a contextual takedown mechanic.
10:29Obviously, no one is happy with this, and it raises a bigger question.
10:33How far can the remake change things before it stops feeling like the original?
10:37I watched the Ubisoft reveal for the Black Flag Resynced situation,
10:42and the impressions for that particular game, or rather the things that they were doing in the game,
10:48were questionable, to say the least.
10:50And I thought to myself, you know, this is what they're showcasing us,
10:54and I saw a couple of fuck-ups here and there, which again, nothing weird from Ubisoft.
10:59So I was thinking to myself, it's no way that they can fuck it up more.
11:03And then this launched.
11:04Us not being able to use Hidden Blades as a weapon like before.
11:09And at this point, I don't really know what to say.
11:12What Ubisoft is doing, it's just so mind-boggling to me.
11:16Why would you remove this particular option for the gamers,
11:20for us who enjoy the original Black Flag?
11:22What was the point?
11:24You are just reducing the pool of weapons that we can use,
11:27because now, after so many years, you think it's not a good idea to do this?
11:33At this point, I'm not surprised what they are doing.
11:36I think it's completely retarded, no matter how you look at it.
11:40And this whole situation reaffirms my original take that I had,
11:46that it's much better to go and play the original Black Flag if you want to experience this,
11:51and just, you know, ignore the one that's coming right now.
11:54Because at the end of the day, we are losing so many things that were good in that game,
11:59and they're adding so much shit that we don't really need.
12:02Same point, that fucking parry system with all the flashes of those colors,
12:07or whatever the fuck those naval officers are where one of them is a woman.
12:11Then again, I am looking forward to picking up this game so I can shit on it,
12:16because I think it's going to be a blast in this particular department.
12:19This is just content that I don't even really need to think about,
12:23it just writes itself, you know.
12:25So, in that particular sense, that kind of makes me happy,
12:28because I don't really need to think about things,
12:30I just need to see it, feel how shitty it is, and talk about it.
12:35Zero effort content, and maximum enjoyment on my side,
12:38because I'm going to have a nice fucking laugh about the whole situation.
12:41And since Ubisoft is doing these stupid things,
12:45I'm wondering what else they have changed for the worse.
12:48So, I reckon stay tuned,
12:50if we have some kind of a leaks in between,
12:53or when the actual game launches.
12:55Also, at this point, it would be a surprise if the game isn't working properly,
13:00that is, if there are bugs and whatnot,
13:02so I fully expect that to happen.
13:04Because, like I said many times,
13:06nothing when it comes to Ubisoft can surprise me at this point.
13:09And that's basically it when it comes to the news that I covered this week.
13:13Thanks for watching, and as always, I encourage you to leave comments.
13:16I read all of them, and I'm very happy to interact with you guys.
13:19If you enjoyed this content, consider liking it and subscribing for more discussions like this.
13:24And that's it from me, until the next one.
