00:05You know, I started to volunteer at a suicide hotline.
00:08I want to die.
00:10Gio.
00:11You did everything you can.
00:13You can't save everybody.
00:15When we met at that juvenile facility, you thought that I gave up on you.
00:20I'd do almost anything to turn back the clock.
00:23I'm trying to protect you.
00:25This from the man who spent years preaching non-judgment.
00:27I almost lost you, okay?
00:28Hey, you cut me some slack.
00:32Sage has filed a complaint against you.
00:35Karen, nothing happened.
00:36I have to go through the motions of processing this.
00:38This is unbelievable.
00:40Okay, what are you not telling me?
00:42What's that supposed to mean?
00:43Not tell...
00:43You don't believe...
00:45No, no.
00:45You don't believe...
00:46Daniel, wait a minute.
00:55Stay with me.
00:56Just focus on me.
00:58That's it.
00:59We're going to help you.
01:00Your daughter's on her way.
01:02How long is he down?
01:03An hour.
01:04Maybe two.
01:05Trauma threes.
01:07250 cc's of 3% saline to reduce intracranial pressure.
01:10One gram Keppra.
01:11Procedure prophylaxis.
01:12I'm on it.
01:14Dr. Lennox, he's losing consciousness.
01:17Stay with me.
01:18I need you to stay with me.
01:19Let's start a trauma workup.
01:21Yeah.
01:21What do we got?
01:2242-year-old male fell head first off his roof, taking out Christmas lights, smacked his head
01:26on the concrete.
01:27I'm thinking he's got to bleed.
01:28Yeah, so am I.
01:29His pupils are blown.
01:32No gag reflex, no cough.
01:34No brainstem reflexes.
01:36He's brain dead.
01:37Yeah, let's do a CT to confirm and keep him on the vent until his daughter gets here.
01:40God, I mean, that's already April.
01:42Should have kept the lights up till next year.
01:45Sharon, have you seen Daniel?
01:47He's not answering his phone.
01:48I got a 20-year-old who just confessed to shooting JFK on the bright side.
01:52That's his American history, at least.
01:54I think Daniel's probably somewhere cooling off.
01:56I'd give him his space.
01:58Really?
01:58What happened?
01:59We had a pretty bad argument.
02:01Oh.
02:02What about?
02:03He accused me of not having his back.
02:08Well, that doesn't sound like Daniel.
02:10Exactly.
02:11That's why I'm worried.
02:28Whoa.
02:30What's going on?
02:31What are we doing here?
02:33Oh, come on.
02:34If you're asking the question, you already know the answer.
02:38Mom, I'm not dead like you.
02:40Maybe not yet.
02:42And I'm not dying either, for God's sake.
02:44I'm having a dream.
02:46And I just, I just don't know why we're, we're here.
02:51Listen.
02:52I know you think this is all about that poor kid you killed.
02:56What was his name?
02:58Gio.
02:59Who finally got up the courage to reach out for help and then had the terrible luck to have
03:04you answer the phone.
03:07When did you become so cruel?
03:09Did somebody do something to you so terrible that, that made you feel so small that for
03:17the rest of your life, the only way you could feel good about yourself is if you were making
03:22somebody else feel miserable?
03:26Especially your kids?
03:28Oh, Danny, you poor thing.
03:30There you are, huffing and puffing, and you still don't get it, do you?
03:35Get what?
03:35Why we're here.
03:37The answer, my darling, is this is where it all started, isn't it?
03:43This is where it happened.
03:46Right over there.
04:01Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, can you hear me?
04:07Sharon?
04:09Daniel.
04:11Daniel, Daniel, are you okay?
04:22Dean, I just found Daniel unconscious on the floor in his office.
04:27I think he may be having a stroke.
04:29Can you please come up here?
04:32Daniel.
04:35Daniel, can you hear me?
04:37It's Sharon.
04:38Daniel.
04:49How is he?
04:50No movement on his right side, in and out of consciousness, heart rate 110, BP 160 over
04:5590.
04:55I've already activated a stroke.
04:57How long has he been down?
04:58Sharon spoke to him about three hours ago.
05:00You thinking TPA?
05:01His timeline does fall within the four and a half hour treatment point, huh?
05:04We're lucky the TPA can break down the clock before it does permanent damage to Daniel's
05:08brain.
05:08Same page, Dr. Ripley.
05:09All right, let's confirm the CTs and we'll take it from there.
05:14Anna.
05:19Is that a lie?
05:21Yes, but we think he's having a stroke.
05:25Is he gonna die?
05:27I won't lie to you, Anna.
05:29It's very serious, but Dr. Archer took him for imaging so we can know exactly the extent
05:36of what we're dealing with.
05:39We had a big fight today.
05:42I wonder if that was our last conversation.
05:45We're gonna take this one step at a time, okay?
05:48Can I see him?
05:50Soon.
05:50I promise.
05:52Come.
05:54We are at the clot.
05:58You're up, Dr. Ripley.
06:00Applying negative pressure.
06:07No, this clot's too firm.
06:08Damn it.
06:09Aspiration technique isn't working.
06:11What if we pivot?
06:13Advance a microcatheter past the clot and deploys the retriever across it.
06:17It's a smart idea.
06:19Almost as if I'd thought of it.
06:34I said I never wanted to see you again.
06:36I know you did.
06:37I know you did.
06:38But I do have no idea what's going on here.
06:41But this was not my idea.
06:42I promise you that.
06:43Okay.
06:44Well, say what you're gonna say.
06:45Get out with it.
06:46Make it quick and get the hell out.
06:49After all, it's what you're best at, isn't it?
06:52Look, I feel terrible about that.
06:55I do.
06:56I think about it all the time.
07:00But look, I have some really good news.
07:03In about 20 years, we meet again and we work together.
07:12Yeah.
07:13Get this.
07:15You become a doctor, Mitch.
07:17What?
07:18Yeah.
07:19It doesn't do with me.
07:21And don't worry, you really ripped me a new one.
07:25But, you know, we hash it out.
07:29Wait, wait, wait.
07:30Do I actually forgive you?
07:31Yeah.
07:32We become friends.
07:34I don't believe you.
07:35Believe it, man.
07:37Yeah.
07:38It happened.
07:39You look at your stuff.
07:41You deal with it.
07:42You get it together.
07:44It's actually one of the proudest moments of my life.
07:48Still is.
07:50My stuff.
07:52Do you even hear yourself?
07:55So full of it.
07:57What did I say?
07:57What?
07:58You say that it's no thanks to you out of one side of your mouth and then you go and
08:01tell
08:01me that you're proud of me out of the other.
08:03You always find some way to take credit, like I'm your kid or something.
08:07You did it just today.
08:08How do you know that?
08:09Wait, do you actually think that I'm me?
08:13I'm you, pal.
08:16This is just a conversation with yourself.
08:19It's all just a nostalgia tour.
08:22And you're playing the hits.
08:24In this case, forcing me to confront my abandonment issues only to abandon me here yourself.
08:32Okay, look, I didn't abandon you.
08:34My rotation ended.
08:35I couldn't handle it differently.
08:36There it is.
08:37Denial.
08:40What, you, uh, you need another hug?
08:45You are such a fraud.
08:57We performed a mechanical thrombectomy.
09:00Uh, it's where a microcatheter is threaded to his middle cerebral artery to manually remove
09:05the clot.
09:06Did it work?
09:07It was an especially large clot.
09:08Uh, we got some of it, but not enough to, uh, reestablish adequate blood flow to the ischemic
09:14area of his brain.
09:15So, what are our options, Dr. Abrams?
09:18Well, we have two.
09:19We could raise his blood pressure and just wait and see.
09:22Best case scenario is he wakes up completely fine.
09:24Worst case, he has permanent irreversible deficits that mean a feeding tube and possibly
09:30a ventilator for the rest of his life.
09:32So then what's the other option?
09:34A direct bypass craniotomy.
09:35I make an incision in his head and connect the cortical and cranial artery directly to his
09:40superficial temporal artery, completely bypassing the blockage.
09:43So we're talking about brain surgery?
09:44Yes, not as scary as it sounds.
09:47It would definitively restore blood flow.
09:50I sense a butt coming.
09:54The TPA Dr. Archer and I administered to break down the clot also puts your father at
10:00a much higher risk of hemorrhagic complications during surgery.
10:04This all sounds like a lot.
10:06Yeah.
10:07I'm still here because Dr. Archer took a risk while I was on that table.
10:13But unfortunately, there are no guarantees.
10:17Well, I'll call Robin and see what she thinks.
10:19Uh, this is awkward.
10:22I'm afraid it isn't up to you.
10:24That decision lies with Daniel's medical power of attorney.
10:27Isn't that me and Robin?
10:28That privilege belongs to Ms. Goodwin.
10:33Me.
10:39George, have you seen Dean?
10:41He's got his phone turned off.
10:43You don't know.
10:45Know what?
10:45Dr. Charles had a stroke.
10:48Dr. Archer, Abrams, and Ripley are taking care of him now.
10:52Well, um, well, how bad is it?
10:56It's pretty bad.
10:58Dr. Archer, you ready?
11:00Ready, uh, for what?
11:02To onboard your substitute before you go on maternity leave.
11:06Wait, um, you, you hired someone?
11:10I did.
11:10Uh, but I was planning to work close to my due date, which is still weeks away, so what's the
11:17rush?
11:18You of all people should know babies don't always abide by due dates.
11:22Dr. Lavelle's references were glowing.
11:24I'm sorry, Dr. Lavelle?
11:26Yeah, she's waiting for you.
11:31The cat with Eugene Levy eyebrows?
11:34Do you two already know each other?
11:36Yeah, I guess you could say that.
11:39You know, I'm just as surprised as you are that your father gave me medical power of attorney.
11:45I know.
11:46It's totally fine.
11:48I would have said no if he'd asked me.
11:51Why?
11:51Because that should be a family decision.
11:55Yeah, but you are a family.
11:57I mean, you've always been Auntie Sharon to me and Robin,
12:00and then you and Dad have been friends since before I was even born.
12:04I mean, Dad loves people, but there's only a few that he really, truly trusts.
12:11But I know that he trusts you.
12:14That's nice of you to say, but I'm not so sure he would...
12:20What?
12:21What's wrong?
12:22You know, let's just focus on deciding what's best for your father together.
12:32Dad's mind is everything to him.
12:37If he doesn't have that, he's not Dad.
12:40I think we do the surgery.
12:43Me too.
12:45So, call your sister, see if she agrees before we let Dr. Abrams know.
12:54Is there something you're not telling me?
12:59Well, I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
13:05I also had an argument with your father.
13:12It was bad.
13:14Dad went full grandma on you, didn't he?
13:17Yeah, he has a little of her in him.
13:19She pops out when he gets really angry.
13:21Well, it left me unsettled.
13:24So, I went to his office so we could talk it out, and that's when I found him.
13:33You know, he's going to apologize like 20 times when he wakes up.
13:41I know.
13:42But either way, when he does, we're going to have a very serious discussion about his anger issues.
13:47You're damn right we will.
14:02Bruh, that was sick.
14:04If you mean a pregnant woman with a gangrenous diabetic foot, then yes, that was sick.
14:10Yeah, I mean, she had max aura.
14:12Not going to lie.
14:14Casey, can you call podiatry, get them down here to do a consult on treatment for her?
14:19Yeah, sure can.
14:20Also, Dr. Archer wanted you to know he's joining Dr. Abrams in surgery.
14:23For Dr. Charles?
14:25Yeah.
14:25I remember Dr. Archer.
14:27How is baby Zaddy you two low-key nesting?
14:30They don't live together.
14:32Oh, it's giving situationship.
14:34I get not.
14:35Not together.
14:36There's no ship at all.
14:37So messy, I love it.
14:39Okay, uh, Casey.
14:40Oh, we got a woman in six complaining about painful sex.
14:45Not the good guy.
14:46Sorry.
14:50Okay, Summer.
14:51So you're having abdominal discomfort and painful intercourse?
14:55I've narrowed it down to really bad gas or ovarian cancer.
15:00Based on what?
15:01A TikTok rabbit hole.
15:02I feel like I just went to medical school.
15:05I would stay off the internet.
15:06When it comes to health, it is full of disinformation.
15:10Right.
15:10All right.
15:11I would like to start an exam.
15:12Is that okay with you?
15:14Okay, just lean back a little bit.
15:18Okay.
15:22My algorithm's all medicine, too.
15:25Really?
15:26Do you follow Dr. Oscar?
15:28He's the neurosurgeon whose background is...
15:30Always inexplicably reinforced.
15:32Yes!
15:32Oh.
15:33Yeah.
15:33He's the coolest stories.
15:34Yeah, he does.
15:35I saw in your chart that you had a pap smear about two weeks ago.
15:40Yeah, I had my annual with my regular OBGYN when she inserted my IUD.
15:45Okay, well, we'll follow up on that.
15:46In the meantime, I will start your pelvic exam.
15:52Okay, just scooch down a little bit.
15:54Actually, can she do it?
16:00Of course.
16:05Awesome sauce.
16:07How we doing, Marty?
16:09All systems go.
16:10Patient is under D-propofol sedation, BP 120 over 69, heart rate 71.
16:15And what are we waiting for?
16:17All right.
16:19Making you an incision along the lateral branch of the STI.
16:27Come on.
16:30Wolf.
16:33Hi, honey.
16:35You're in big trouble, Daddy.
16:37I am?
16:37What'd I do?
16:39Oh, look who arrived just in time to be absolutely no help at all.
16:43Told you.
16:44You promised to be home in time to get Robin up and off to school.
16:47But instead, surprise, surprise, you decided to hang around at work.
16:51And surprise, surprise, didn't bother to call.
16:55You never, ever did.
16:56Not even once.
16:57I got this.
16:58I'm taking you to school, honey.
17:00I will take her to school, and you're going back to sleep, and I'm sorry.
17:02Sleep?
17:03Is that a joke?
17:05Come on, baby.
17:07I'm an hour late for work.
17:11There you are.
17:15Sue.
17:16Anna's in the car.
17:17I don't want her to hear what I'm about to say, so I'll cut right to the point.
17:21Oh, crap.
17:22I remember this.
17:23Yeah, well, I'm not surprised.
17:24This was the time I meant it.
17:26Because nothing can compete with your fancy job where you get to be oh so important, and
17:32everyone adores you.
17:34After all, all we are is your family.
17:36Look, nothing was ever more important to me than you and Anna, and you know that.
17:41I have to cut my hours.
17:42It wouldn't have made a difference.
17:43What happens with the next clinical emergency, the next nervous breakdown, the next suicide
17:49attempt?
17:50You will never let anyone else handle it, because that is not who you are.
17:55Stop pining!
18:01Oh, honey, honey.
18:04It's okay, honey.
18:05Don't be sad.
18:06Don't be sad.
18:07Anna Banana, you are going to see Daddy all the time.
18:12All the time, all the time, and we're going to have so much fun, aren't we?
18:16Are you listening?
18:23Lucia.
18:26You haven't learned anything.
18:29Spanish was never my strong suit, honey.
18:31Come on, you know that.
18:32You have learned nothing.
18:34You said it would be different with us.
18:37You said it a thousand times.
18:40I really, really wanted it to be.
18:44You don't need me, Danny.
18:46That's not true.
18:47It is.
18:47It's not true.
18:49It is.
18:51You don't need anyone.
19:01So, I just wanted to make sure we're cool.
19:05Why wouldn't we be?
19:07You were totally pissed at me earlier about summer.
19:11We shouldn't be encouraging our patients to seek medical advice on social media.
19:16Influencers are destigmatizing the sharing of health diagnoses, and they're teaching patients
19:20to advocate for themselves.
19:21Why seek treatment from an actual doctor when you could just misdiagnose yourself from home?
19:25That is an oversimplification.
19:27Really?
19:28Yes.
19:29I mean, cancer screenings tripled last year after Kate Middleton posted a video about her
19:33own diagnosis.
19:33I think you sent Summer mixed messages.
19:36I was trying to connect after you dismissed her with your buzzkill energy.
19:40My buzzkill energy, really?
19:42Dr. Asher.
19:43Nope.
19:44The lab called.
19:45Summer's test results were just posted.
19:49Well, guess we better tell her.
19:50Mind if I take the lead?
19:52You're the boss.
19:53Until I take over.
19:56So, your labs revealed elevated white blood cell count, CRP, and procalcitonin.
20:01You have PID.
20:04Sorry, I don't know what that stands for.
20:06It's pelvic inflammatory disease.
20:08It's an infection of your reproductive organs.
20:12I guess they didn't cover that on TikTok.
20:15But, wait, isn't that what Dr. Lavelle suspected when she examined me?
20:19That's correct.
20:20Is it serious?
20:21It can be if untreated, but we caught this in plenty of time.
20:23Broad-spectrum antibiotics should clear this right up.
20:26I'm just really glad that you came in.
20:28Of course I did.
20:29I'm not going to self-diagnose based on what I read online.
20:32It's just a research tool.
20:34I hear you.
20:35No judgment.
20:36You sure?
20:40How did I catch this?
20:41The most common causes are bacteria from chlamydia or gonorrhea.
20:44What?
20:45You tested negative for both of those.
20:48Your PID may have come from your IUD insertion.
20:52In some cases, bodies can become more vulnerable to infection.
20:56That's a relief.
20:58I thought you were telling me I had an STD.
21:02What's wrong?
21:02Well, completely unrelated to the PID,
21:05your pap smear did reveal that you are positive for human papillomavirus.
21:09HPV, so I do have an STD.
21:11It's like, get me off this rollercoaster, am I right?
21:14It is a completely asymptomatic STI,
21:16which your body will likely clear in a year or two.
21:19Oh my god.
21:20Girl, HPV's nothing to be ashamed of, okay?
21:23At least 80% of the population will get it in their lifetime,
21:26and one out of every three people currently has it.
21:28I'll be real with you, I have it.
21:29Dr. Lavelle?
21:31It's okay.
21:32I'm going.
21:39Hey, man.
21:41Doing okay?
21:43I know you and Dr. Charles are pretty tight.
21:47Yeah.
21:48Yeah, just feeling a bit useless, you know?
21:51Yeah.
21:52No fun on the bench, huh?
21:55Yeah, not really what I meant.
22:02You know, um,
22:05there's been a few times I've been in a really bad place,
22:09and that man in there definitely bailed me out.
22:14And I know this is just the kind of thing people say in these situations,
22:17but it always made me think to myself,
22:23I don't know.
22:25Like, why couldn't my dad have been like that?
22:32What can I say?
22:35I guess we can't all be that lucky.
22:40Yeah.
22:43Not a lot of veins around the M4 vessel.
22:46Makes it a perfect landing zone.
22:48How's the donor vessel?
22:50Skeletonized and ready.
22:52All right, let's relax the brain.
22:54I'm not talking about yours, Marty.
22:56Optimizing CO2 and pushing man, it's all.
22:59It's anastomosis time.
23:07It's you.
23:08It's me, Danny.
23:12Souser?
23:13Good to know you haven't forgotten my voice.
23:15Never.
23:17Where are you calling from?
23:19Right behind you.
23:30So you think Gio is dead?
23:32Sous.
23:33King.
23:35He had a gun in his hand when he called me.
23:38I got him talking.
23:40And all of a sudden, I realized, wait, this kid is completely and utterly alone.
23:48And so I asked him, if he thought it might help, to talk about her.
23:54Very quickly went sideways.
23:56Daniel, I would have done the same thing.
23:58Okay.
23:58Howie would have done the same thing.
24:00Any shrink worth their salt would have done the same thing.
24:04Look, Gio's call clearly set you off.
24:10And you are clearly invested in beating yourself up about all the people you think you've let down.
24:16But are you sure you're not burying the lead here?
24:20Aren't you leaving somebody out?
24:22Oh, no.
24:25That stuff's been handled.
24:27It's me, remember?
24:29Remember, every time I tried to get you to talk about this, when we were together in med school, you
24:35were never comfortable going there.
24:36And every time since, you've changed the subject.
24:39Ever occur to you that maybe I just didn't want to talk about it with you?
24:42Oh, that is beneath you.
24:44Okay, well...
24:45Don't be a jerk.
24:46Look, you know what?
24:50I love you dearly.
24:51But you're starting to piss me off, okay?
24:53I'm a psychiatrist.
24:54I have sweat decades of blood in therapy on this topic.
25:00You have been running from this your entire life, and I get it.
25:05Anyone would be terrified at the prospect of confronting this.
25:09But you and I both know if you don't, it'll run you over.
25:16Maybe it already has.
25:26There you are.
25:28Here I am.
25:29Any word on Dr. Charles?
25:32He's holding his own so far.
25:35That's something.
25:36It's a risky procedure.
25:38Yeah.
25:40Yeah.
25:43You know, I met him when I was 16.
25:46When you were in juvie.
25:49Casey filled me in.
25:50How the hell does Casey know?
25:52Because Casey knows all.
25:54Yet knows nothing.
25:58Yeah.
25:59Well, uh...
26:01Sully and I were about to cross over from petty crime to the real deal.
26:06We stole a car.
26:08He got away, I didn't.
26:09And I ended up in juvie, sitting across from Dr. Charles.
26:13Not caring what happened next.
26:30Where did you just go?
26:31What are you doing?
26:34I'm trying to help.
26:36Sex isn't a cure-all, Caitlin.
26:42I found that it is.
26:44Really?
26:46Because it kind of feels like a distraction from a real conversation.
26:51I don't do death, Mitch.
26:55What does that even mean?
26:56It means I'm trying.
26:58To meet you halfway here.
27:03Well, it's...
27:06Not enough.
27:20I really think you should reconsider Dr. Lavelle as my replacement.
27:25She's your substitute.
27:27She is not a good fit.
27:29Is there any particular reason?
27:31She's borderline unprofessional.
27:33She relies too much on social media.
27:35She called a patient bra and another patient chat.
27:39She talks non-stop, and honestly, her manner is driving me insane.
27:42Well, as you know, Dr. Asher, not everyone is a fan of my manner.
27:46But I don't think this is about Dr. Lavelle.
27:48I think it's about you.
27:50What do you mean?
27:51You have avoided any discussion of your maternity leave for months.
27:54You clearly have personal issues at play here.
27:57But know this.
27:58You will go on leave next month,
28:00and Dr. Lavelle will be covering your position until you return.
28:23I'm, uh...
28:24I'm sorry you heard all that.
28:29It's all good.
28:30Chat.
28:32Look, Dr. Lennox was right.
28:34This...
28:36This wasn't about you.
28:37Oh, I know it wasn't.
28:39I do think that you try too hard to sound young and hip with your patients.
28:43What do you want me to do?
28:44I am young and hip.
28:46You shared a personal medical fact with Summer.
28:49That's universally pretty frowned upon.
28:51But it put her at ease, didn't it?
28:54As opposed to your clinical approach, which sent her anxiety through the roof.
28:57I do not need a lecture, Vera.
29:00I have been doing this a long time.
29:02Yes.
29:02And though this may shock you,
29:05I respect the hell out of you.
29:07I hope to be as accomplished as you someday.
29:12But girl, you...
29:14gotta pivot sometimes.
29:19My life is going to irreversibly change in a few weeks.
29:23I know that.
29:25My body's not my own.
29:27My hormones are not.
29:29I cried yesterday because I couldn't open a string cheese.
29:34I just don't think that it's fair.
29:37That my career...
29:39The one thing that shouldn't have to change is also being ripped out of my hands.
29:46Preach.
29:49You know, I have a feeling that you're going to figure it all out.
29:53While on leave.
30:04Hanging in there, Dr. Ripley?
30:07Oh, you know.
30:09My mind's doing what minds do.
30:11And, uh, you're worried you won't see someone again.
30:15I believe it's called guilt.
30:19Yeah.
30:20Whatever it is, Dr. Charles has only ever held you in the highest regard.
30:27I know.
30:28I know.
30:32It's just...
30:36Sometimes I worry...
30:40He thinks that I'm still holding on to some ancient history.
30:43Oh.
30:44But I'm not.
30:47He's had a profoundly...
30:50Positive effect on my life.
30:53And you know something?
30:55I think that would mean a lot to him.
31:01Hmm?
31:04Okay.
31:04That was Robin.
31:05Her connecting flight from LAX got canceled, so we got her another one from Burbank, but
31:09she only has two hours to cap it over.
31:10Oh, okay.
31:11So...
31:12Is there any news on Dad?
31:13Well, he's the same.
31:15Holding his own.
31:17Good.
31:18Dr. Lennox.
31:23May I join?
31:25Please do.
31:29What?
31:33I really appreciate...
31:35Don't ruin it.
31:38I'm having a hard time seeing the proximal anastomosis.
31:41Give me a hep saline flush, please.
31:45Well, that's worrisome.
31:46We're running a bit hypotensive.
31:48What the hell are you guys doing up there?
31:49Our job, Marty.
31:50So do yours and just fix it, okay?
31:52He's not responding to fluids or pressers.
31:54We'll load him up, dammit.
31:55Something's going on I can't see.
31:58We're all partying.
31:59We can invite anybody we want.
32:01Yeah.
32:03Yeah.
32:09Mom?
32:11There are no plans to get in the way.
32:14We need to be able to run and play like the rest of us.
32:17I'm done.
32:19We'll see you in the way.
32:21Yeah.
32:22I'm going to have a saline flush.
32:27Do you remember the last conversation we had the day I died?
32:31The one where you accused me of driving your father and brother to early graves.
32:38Sure do.
32:38I bet you do.
32:40Because I died an hour later.
32:43Do you know what I've been curious about?
32:46What's that?
32:47Do you ever miss me?
32:49Actually, yeah.
32:51Sometimes I do.
32:52You're a liar.
32:53You were relieved.
32:55How can you say that?
32:56I felt terrible about the things that I said to you.
32:59If you must know, I mean, I've actually been kind of haunted by it.
33:02You've always been too hard on yourself.
33:05You do know that, don't you?
33:06What do you mean?
33:07How so?
33:08We always seem to think that it was your job to make everything and everybody okay.
33:14Is that really such a terrible thing?
33:16Pretty tall order, don't you think?
33:18I don't know, Danny.
33:20I've just always regretted that you were here that day.
33:23That you had to go through that alone.
33:26Because I truly believe that that's where all this comes from.
34:10Danny, you do know I always loved you, don't you?
34:21Dad!
34:27Dad!
34:31Dad!
34:32Dad!
34:33He's flatlined.
34:35Oh, damn it.
34:36Push one milligram of epi.
34:38Starting chest compressions.
34:41Come on!
34:48Give me the paddles, please.
34:52Charge 200.
34:54Clear.
34:56I got you, Dad.
35:03I got you, Dad.
35:04Dad!
35:05Dad, I'm right here, Dad.
35:06Dad!
35:08Wake up!
35:09Wake up!
35:10Dad, can you hear me?
35:11Dad!
35:12Wake up, Dad!
35:13I got you, Dad!
35:14Oh-oh!
35:17Oh-oh!
35:18Oh-oh!
35:19Yeah!
35:20Oh-oh!
35:21Yeah!
35:23Oh!
35:23Oh-oh!
35:27All right, George again.
35:30Clear.
35:36I didn't know you got home from school.
35:38All I can tell you is that I'm really, really glad that I did.
35:44Me too.
35:45Thank you, buddy.
35:48I was close.
35:50Dad, look.
35:51I know how Mom makes you feel, okay?
35:53It wasn't your mother's fault, pal.
35:56I know you and Tommy always blamed her for my dark moods,
36:00but the truth is I struggled with them long before I met her.
36:04She never tried to understand.
36:06How could she?
36:07I don't understand.
36:09You, Dad, are depressed.
36:11I'm what?
36:13Blue.
36:14Melancholy.
36:15They had all kinds of silly names for it back then,
36:17and psychiatry wasn't equipped to deal with it yet, but now we are.
36:22What do you mean now?
36:24Your math ain't mathin', pal.
36:29I'm so sorry, Danny.
36:32What are you talking about?
36:32Dad, listen.
36:33And this is important, okay?
36:34You have nothing to apologize for because it's not your fault.
36:38All we got to do is get you the right kind of help,
36:40and there's a lot of help out there.
36:44Why is the garage door closing again?
36:50Danny, it's for the best.
36:53It's genetic, right?
36:56Let's just let sleeping dogs lie.
37:01We're dead.
37:03What's happening?
37:06Danny, you can't stop this.
37:09And it's really important for you to know three things.
37:13You never could have.
37:15It's not your fault.
37:17And I love you.
37:18Always will.
37:19No.
37:20No, Dad.
37:21No.
37:22No.
37:22Come with me, Danny.
37:24Trust me.
37:25It's peaceful where we're going,
37:26and we can be together.
37:31No, Dad.
37:33We are not going anywhere.
37:38Dad!
37:38We're not!
37:49Henry, you can't do this again now.
37:54You can't.
37:55I'm going to miss you too much.
37:59I'm going to miss you too much.
38:03You.
38:18We're losing him.
38:20Charge again.
38:22Clear.
38:26Stone pulse.
38:27Again, clear.
38:36All right, I've got a good carotid pulse.
38:40Nice job, Dr. Archer.
38:42You mind if we get back to our little brain surgery now?
38:45Feel free.
38:47Let's hope the code didn't cause any permanent neurological deficits.
38:51Well, cross my fingers, but they're covered in cerebrospinal fluid, but I share that hope.
39:32Oh, no, no.
39:33Daniel, no, no.
39:34Don't move your head, okay?
39:36I got it.
39:43Want some water?
39:51Oh, Anna?
39:54Anna.
39:55I sent her home.
39:57She'd been awake for almost 48 hours, but she's fine.
40:02Anna Ripley, thank you.
40:05I'm sorry, Daniel.
40:06I don't know what you mean.
40:07Extinguisher.
40:08Extinguisher.
40:09Thank you, extinguisher.
40:11Oh, please.
40:12No.
40:12Please.
40:19I'm at Caffney Chicago Medical Center.
40:26Best damn hospital in the Midwest, and I wake up, and all I get is this hippie cup.
40:32And you?
40:36Where's my damn jello?
40:39Where are all my balloons?
40:43I tell you what, I'm going Howie first thing in the morning.
40:48I'm done with this dump.
40:49Well, this dump ain't done with you.
40:53Oh, yeah?
40:54Well, get me some balloons.
40:56Get me some jello.
40:58I'm on it.
40:59I don't know what's that.
41:00I don't know what's that.
41:34I don't know what's that.
42:05I don't know what's that.
42:06I don't know what's that.
42:06I don't know what's that.
42:06I don't know what's that.
42:06I don't know what's that.
42:07I don't know what's that.
42:08I don't know what's that.
42:09I don't know what's that.
42:09You
