00:00and this is a very pleasurable offense to watch they get on base a lot this offense leads the
00:06major leagues in on base percentage they have a lot of base runners and in terms of batting
00:13average they're hitting 260 they're fourth in batting average as a team um ops overall they're
00:21fourth overall and the home runs may not have been there early but really they've kind of
00:29caught up their fourth in home runs at 42 behind the braves the dodgers and the yankees they're the
00:35fourth team right there but they don't do it just with the home runs it's a very pleasurable offense
00:41to watch a lot of hits a lot of walks they're really good base runners they have the most
00:47plate appearances with runners in scoring position of any team in baseball they get a lot of p get a
00:52lot of people on base a lot of chances for rbis and it's just i mean you saw pca in
00:59the fourth
01:00and it's another sign like it's really happened progressively over the first really over the last
01:06what 10 days 15 games or so you've seen the at bats be better if you're watching every day and
01:13the
01:13numbers will say it too but there was a great at bat in the fourth nearly an extra base hit
01:18line drive
01:18down the right field line goes off the side wall hangs in there a couple pitches later a single up
01:23the middle takes second on a throw that goes into the cutoff man at shortstop and then dansby swanson
01:31a great at bat after that he works a count good check swing he fouls off three different full count
01:37pitches then an rbi single dansby's been working the count he's walking a lot this year this whole team
01:43is walking a lot this year the offense is rolling and it's funny ken rosenthal over at the athletic
01:50wrote about how they're scoring more runs by swinging less no team in baseball swings at fewer
01:58pitches inside the strike zone than the chicago cubs and it's interesting because with the abs system
02:04we're seeing walks go up a lot in mlb and that was expected that's what happened in the minor leagues
02:09and the cubs are one of that offense one of those offenses that's really capitalizing by
02:14by swinging less and alex bregman's a big part of it because bregman has always been a guy who
02:21swings at fewer pitches especially in the strike zone than most others because he knows he's good
02:26enough to make contact on inferior pitches
