00:00That was absolutely incredible because I think that you look at the outcome of that series
00:06and you say, oh yeah, the Cubs are right back where you want to be.
00:11They are right back in this thing.
00:13What are they, five and a half out?
00:15Five and a half weeks before they take over first place in the NL Central.
00:19That's kind of, you know, they say basically you pick up a game a week.
00:23That's pretty good.
00:24For this time of year, that's okay.
00:26They made a big jump there.
00:27Especially when you can do it directly against the opponent, right?
00:30Exactly.
00:31Have a series and face them.
00:31I think the big thing here is last year the Cubs were the ones with the target on their back.
00:37And so the Brewers felt as though they had this added incentive to beat them.
00:41And this year it's the opposite.
00:43I feel like that's what we saw this weekend where it was a Cubs team that's looking at the Brewers
00:46and saying,
00:47we're better than you.
00:48We can beat you.
00:48And then, of course, obviously the results showed that they get to pick the series up over the weekend.
00:52It was a Cubs team that looked at them and said, we don't need pitching.
00:56We'll beat you anyway.
00:58We'll get guys off the street.
01:00You know, last week it was the starters going down, a starter a day.
01:04This week it's like a reliever a day.
01:07I mean, what the hell's going on?
01:09It's just crazy the way the Cubs managed to do everything that they claimed they were going to do.
01:16In other words, best defensive team in baseball goes out, makes a deal for a ground ball pitcher because he'll
01:25be so much better here because he's got this great defensive ball club behind him.
01:30And guess what?
01:31He was absolutely correct.
01:33How often does that happen?
01:35Where you hear that sort of proclamation and you kind of roll your eyes a little, okay, yeah, that's how
01:40it's going to work.
01:41The guy's got, like, what's his ERA?
01:44And I, listen, I watched that Mets series.
01:47I know how awful that team is defensively.
01:50But, man, that was something special.
01:52And I really thought yesterday to win that bullpen game, to win that third game with a double play was
02:01a perfect sort of metaphor for what happened over the weekend.
02:04Yeah, and then, obviously, as you mentioned, you know, the bullpen game, Rolison comes out in the first inning.
02:09Oh, yeah.
02:09They keep him in a bit, a touch too long with the Gary Sanchez home run, and you're thinking, okay,
02:15same old, same old.
02:17But, again, you think about the mental makeup of this team.
02:20To be able to bounce back from that and pull out the victory says a lot about the squad.
02:25And you're right, to be able to do it the way they did.
02:27And granted, it wasn't the best pitching performance in the tent by the Brewers, but that's baseball.
02:32And you've got to pick up your victories when you can, and Cubs pick up a good one.
