00:00I am, without doubt, the world's worst procrastinator.
00:04I can get distracted by anything.
00:07I'm self-employed as well, which makes it even worse.
00:09I think attention span and stuff definitely got worse over the years as well.
00:12So I think for me, it's just lists.
00:15If I don't make a list, nothing gets done.
00:16That's the way to be, tick things off.
00:18Well, it depends what I'm doing, really.
00:20If it's university work, I like to get someone else's opinion on something.
00:23So if I'm trying to get some work done, I'll ask my parents to...
00:27I do my notes, I write them as questions.
00:30So I get them to ask me the questions, and that's usually how I get work done.
00:33It's not always as straightforward as being productive or procrastinating.
00:36I work in mental health.
00:38I also had quite a late-in-life diagnosis of ADHD,
00:41which helped me to understand that things like neurodivergence
00:45and mental health can also come into play with procrastination and productivity.
00:49So things that help myself are actually things like body doubling.
00:53Like if somebody else is in the room, even if we're doing separate things,
00:56I get on with a lot more.
00:58I find that when my kids are around, I'm up, I'm active, we're out.
01:02Compared to when I'm on my own, I can bedrock a little bit.
01:04I go to a quiet space like the library so that I can work for my assignments.
01:09And usually I don't get my phone out until the assignment's complete.
01:13Obviously I'm guilty of doing it because sometimes I get phone calls,
01:17but at the end of the day, it's just you've got to work around it
01:20and you've just got to be consistent with it.
01:21I'll have a coffee, I'll go on my phone,
01:23and then I'm like just doom scrolling for like an hour
01:26and I've done nothing at all.
01:27And then something else, I'll do that tomorrow.
01:29I'll do that tomorrow.
01:30I'll do that tomorrow.
