00:01Public trust is one of the clearest tests for any police force,
00:06especially when people want visible action on crime and safety.
00:10In the West Midlands, a new two-year survey will ask residents directly
00:14how confident they feel about local policing services.
00:19West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster
00:22says the work will give the public a direct ongoing voice in how they are policed.
00:28He says results gathered every quarter will help set changing policing priorities
00:34across the whole regional force area.
00:37Independent researchers will carry out door-to-door interviews
00:41with households selected at random.
00:43The survey will cover Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Samwell, Solihull, Wartell and Wolverhampton,
00:51aiming to capture views from many local communities
00:54with very different experiences of crime and local policing services.
01:00The Commissioner says the findings should show whether resources are being used effectively
01:05to improve community safety and rebuild confidence.
01:10The survey will not on its own solve concerns about crime, response times or neighbourhood policing,
01:16but is intended to create regular evidence about how residents feel
01:20rather than relying on complaints, public meetings or individual high policing incidents alone.
01:26See you soon.
