00:01A Shirley campaigner has renewed calls for a pedestrian crossing outside Shirley Park,
00:06saying residents are risking their lives on Herdice Road. Local resident Wendy Tilt presented
00:12a petition signed by around 400 residents to Solihull Council. She says children, parents
00:18with pushchairs and elderly people use the entrance daily, with no crossing between the
00:24park and a route to Berman Infant School. Mrs Tilt says previous petitions had been rejected
00:29despite a serious accident in May last year. Councillor Ken Hawkins said officers had found
00:35visibility adequate before but accepted safety concerns. He says the council will revisit the
00:41site and consider what action is possible.
