00:01After a court postponed his hearing on Wednesday,
00:04anti-Western and Pan-African activist Kimi Sibba will remain in detention.
00:09He's wanted in Benin on charges of inciting rebellion after backing a coup attempt in December.
00:17Sibba's lawyer thinks the accusations are exaggerated.
00:23There's that atmosphere being created about how dangerous the man is,
00:27yet he's not being charged anywhere with any level of dangerous or violent crime.
00:31So I think there's that being done by the state intentionally.
00:34I mean, the affidavits are quite thick for an immigration charge.
00:38Sibba was arrested earlier this month in South Africa alongside his 18-year-old son
00:42during an undercover police operation.
00:45His lawyer is optimistic his client will have the outcome he's hoping for.
00:53The reason the date is the 11th of May is purely because the state prosecutor
00:57is in high court in another trial tomorrow.
01:00But we are confident, even given the allegations,
01:03that we have a strong, strong defence to the allegations.
01:06And a strong case for bail in that our client will be applying,
01:10as well as applied for asylum in South Africa.
01:13The bail hearing has been postponed until May the 11th.
01:19Sibba has also filed an application for political asylum in South Africa.
01:23Thank you very much.
01:25Thank you very much.
