00:00I'm getting a stress echocardiogram today and I'm bringing you guys with me.
00:05We're at North Downtown today at Dr. Tran's office who is a part of the Orlando Health
00:09Heart and Vascular Institute. As soon as you check in, the team brings you back into the room where
00:14the stress echocardiogram is performed. The team goes over the procedure and answers any questions
00:20you may have. Similar to an echocardiogram, you will be asked to remove any top clothing including
00:27a bra as the team will need full access to your chest to affix the echocardiogram leads.
00:33As you can see, it's very fashionable. We look great. The first part of the echocardiogram is
00:39simple. It's imaging at rest of your heart. Your sonographer will have you lay down on your side
00:45and take various pictures of your heart for evaluation. Look at her flutter. I bet they
00:50can tell I'm nervous. Now here comes the strenuous part, aka the stress part of the stress echo.
00:57This procedure is designed to evaluate how the heart muscle and valves perform under stress.
01:03So as you're hooked up to the EKG and you have blood pressure monitoring along the way,
01:07we are ramping up from a slow brisk walk to a run and it's all designed to get you to
01:13a maximum heart
01:14rate. Each maximum heart rate is dependent on the individual ultimately, but once it's reached,
01:20it's a mad dash back to the ultrasound. This part can be fast as we need to see how the
01:25heart is
01:25responding to stress with the new updated ultrasound of the heart. The stress echo will then be compared
01:31to the at rest echo. This comparison can help evaluate the severity of heart conditions like
01:37coronary artery disease. If you experience any discomfort or pain during your heart,
