00:00Oh, the most Texas. Wow, drag us, okay? Yeah. Really? Hot.
00:14Large food portions. Wow, drag us, okay? Yeah. Yeah, it's, we got to work on that. The bigger
00:24the plate, the more Texas it is, really, honestly. I mean, there was this one time I
00:28got a chicken fried steak and, I mean, it must have been this fucking big. I was just like,
00:33my God, we love a large portion. Don't mess with the plate size, I guess.
00:37Referring to all sodas as Coke. 100%. It's, I'm going to grab a Coke. If you grab a Sprite,
00:44no one's mad. Well, you would say Dr. Pepper, I think. I think Dr. Pepper gets its own,
00:49its own category. UFOs. Oh, man, I think they're everywhere.
00:57I have seen the Marfa Lights. I'll say that. This was back in 2016, and my band and I were
01:02playing a festival out there, and they're like, you know, oh, go see the Marfa Lights. We're like,
01:06yeah, yeah, yeah. And, well, we definitely saw them around, like, it's probably around, like,
01:10midnight. Yeah, I don't know what it is. Yeah, they're honestly, they're everywhere at this
01:16point. Or at least, they're everywhere for me, so I can't really speak for everyone else.
01:19Every day, I see something weird. I'm beginning to be like, guys, this is getting out of hand.
01:23The dry spell promo is out of hand at this point. I truly do see weird shit all the time.
01:29It started
01:29down in Mexico, like, around, like, 2012, and that, like, busted the door wide open for, like,
01:36just seeing some really unexplainable stuff, you know? Where are they going to take me? Like,
01:41it better be fun. Blue bonnets. Obviously, it's our state flower. I've always been told that it was
01:48illegal to pick blue bonnets. I don't know if that's just a wives' tale that was told,
01:51so we wouldn't. But if you were going to be taking senior portraits, you were going to go to the
01:56blue
01:56bonnet patch. That's for sure. Next time I go down, they better watch out. A blue bonnet hates to see
02:01me coming. Rodeos.
02:04Rodeos. It's not, it's not not Texas, and it's Texas, and it's also not. It is very ingrained in
02:11our Texas culture, but it also came largely from Mexico and also Brazil. Brazilians love a rodeo.
02:18Rodeo largely came from Latin America, but we also have our own version of it in Texas.
02:22You're going to see some bull riding. You're going to see some bronc riding. You're going to see some
02:27roping and some mutton busting. I don't know if you know what that is, but it's like an event where
02:32the
02:32kids get a chance to, like, jump on a baby sheep as it's trying to run away, and it's riveting.
02:39Barrel racing is the pinnacle event, for me anyways. I mean, you know, love to see the bull riders
02:45hot, but the barrel girls are, like, it's really exciting. And, like, I took some barrel lessons
02:51for a bit last year, and I never got quite up to speed yet, but I will. I will one
02:56day. It's,
02:56like, it's my, my goal to enter. Even if I'm in the 4D, like, racing with the grandmas, like,
03:01I'm going to, you guys just wait. It's going to be over for y'all.
03:06Homecoming moms.
03:08Absolutely. And the bigger, the better. You are that bitch if you have, if your mom is, like,
03:1450 pounds. And they get crazy. They just, yeah. Small town, homecoming moms, it's a real thing.
03:23Our mom would always make ours, and they were cute. Karen did a good job. But, like,
03:27you would see some others down the hall, and you'd be like, damn, man.
03:32In football season, you know, everybody gets a mom. Sometimes the guys give girls a mom,
03:38and, like, would the girls pin it on them? And then the guys, no, maybe the girls have the arm
03:44ones. Does anyone else know this here? Like, you give one to the guy, if you have a crush or
03:48boyfriend
03:48or whatever, and then they pin it on their, like, shirt or whatever. But you should also have
03:53a massive mom that has, like, you know, whatever, like, extracurricular activities that you're in.
03:58You know, you want to, like, have a little flair on there, telling people what you're about when
04:02you walk down that hall. Like, you're going to have your name on it. You're going to have,
04:06like, probably a little teddy bear in the middle. Some people get crazy in there. They had, like,
04:09lights and shit on there. It's glitter and bells. Oh, my God, the bells. I just remember,
04:13like, the teachers would make us tape our bells because it was such a disruption.
04:18Tape your bells.
04:19Saying, bless your heart.
04:23Nana would say this. She'd be like, bless her heart. She's just, she's not a real pretty girl,
04:30is she? And then just throws it, tacks it on a, bless her heart. Fixing two. I'm fixing two. I'm
04:37about to, you know what I mean? Also, last year, I got into this debate with some friends about
04:41chuck versus chunk. I'm not chucking something. I'm going to chunk it. And everyone's like,
04:47that's so wrong. And it caused, like, a big divide. But I think it's chunk. So I don't know
04:53where along the way we got chunk, but I'm going to chunk it. You know what I mean? I'm fixing
04:56to
04:57chunk it.
04:57Saying, y'all.
04:59Really? Guys? Really? Uh-uh. I don't know. That is a Texas thing.
05:07H-E-B grocery stores.
05:08Oh, the most Texas. But I need them to come to Nashville. We love an H-E-B. H-E
05:14-B brand is great.
05:16Even the layouts of the stores. We love it. It's superior, really. We really should have
05:21thought about the H-E-B. Yeah, we really should have thought about going there.
05:25Well, I will say, Texas is massive, right? And it encompasses so many different kinds of people.
05:29You will find every type of person, every story, every background, every belief. But there is,
05:34among those differences, there is a very uniting factor that is being a Texan. If we were to sit
05:39down and talk politics or whatever it is, we might not totally agree with each other. But we would
05:44be able to handshake and agree on the fact that, you know, don't fucking mess with Texas.
05:49Country music.
05:50Oh, well, you know, in Texas, we have our own brand of country music. You would say Texas country.
05:56And it's kind of its own thing. But yeah, sure. Yes? Oh, I mean, who are you asking?
06:04I'll give you that one. But like, for me to say country music is not Texas, that's like,
06:11that's chaotic. Square dancing.
06:15Um, hmm. I mean, I'm gonna say...
06:21I don't know if this is a hot take. Square dancing could be kind of more in the, like,
06:25Appalachian areas. We got the two-step in. Well, I can show you. But it's like,
06:29it's two steps forward, one step back. Wait, is it different than a wall? It's one,
06:33two, three, one, two. Yeah, it's different than a wall. It's two steps forward and one step back.
06:38It's pretty simple. Bulls. Bulls in general? Uh, yeah, sure. Well, the bull on the album cover is
06:47actually, his name is Tex. And he came from a ranch that my friend Evan owns. And Evan brought
06:53Tex down and a couple of horses for our photo shoot. My little sister shot the album cover.
06:57She's done a lot of my album covers before. And I love working with her and had this vision of
07:03sort
07:03of bringing this, the sense of middle of nowhere kind of to somewhere where you might not expect it.
07:09And so we were riding around Dallas. I had Evan bring the bull. And we kind of just posted up
07:13in
07:13different locations with this, like, really beautiful bull. And like, haters are gonna try and say,
07:17that's AI. But it was 100% was real. And, um, there was something metaphorical for me about,
07:24you know, having this bull behind me and turning and facing it, you know?
07:27NASA. Oh, NASA. Well, it is stationed in Texas, right? Florida. No. Hold on.
07:35Wait. No, I know this. It's a random state. You wouldn't think. The headquarters.
07:41Hmm. Well, there is one in Houston, right? Cape Canaveral. Where else? Oh, Washington, D.C.
07:50Tex-Mex. Tex-Mex? Duh. Tex-Mex is a blend of Texas
07:57and Mexican cultures, resulting in a lot of blended music and food. Good chips. You gotta have
08:03a thin, crispy chip. They can't be too thick, I don't think. There's usually a lot of fried things,
08:08but lots of cheese. Pretty much, that's, like, the common denominators. Lots of queso.
08:13Chili. Uh, Texas. People get really opinionated about chili, you know? I mean, some people like
08:19to throw some cinnamon in there. That's weird. Chocolate? I don't know about it. If beans weren't
08:23in there, what would be in there? We got meat, onions, tomatoes. You know what I mean?
08:27Like, I think you need the beans. Yodeling? Oh. Not Texas. I believe it came from Switzerland.
08:37A lot of cultures have versions of yodeling, right? You know? But I think it came from the
08:41Alps. But then it did kind of trickle its way down and kind of make its way into cowboy
08:45music in, like, the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Western swing? Texas. Yeah. 100%. I did grow up singing
08:56super traditional country in Western music, largely Western swing. And yeah, I, somewhere
09:02along the way, started yodeling. And yeah, I would, like, enter competitions. And it was
09:09kind of, yeah, my thing for a while. It's a little, I need to, I need to bust it back
09:13out
09:13at some point. I'm always looking to infuse elements of traditional Western sounds into
09:19my music. I really love playing with that balance where, you know, you have maybe a modern lyric,
09:24and you're kind of infusing some of that nostalgic country and Western flavor to it
09:28and kind of finding the perfect balance. Fast speed limits. I don't care what the speed
09:34limit is. I'm going fast. So I guess, yeah, we have somewhere to be. Pretty much. Is it
09:39what? It's 80? 85. Nice. And it's still a little too slow. Texas is huge. We, I need to get
09:47there quick.
