00:05You are a gorgeous bunch.

00:11I used to be like you.
00:14Well, it is very special to be here tonight to support my dear friend Malachi Barton.
00:21I had the privilege of meeting Malachi last summer in Vancouver,
00:26right before we started shooting our new show, Covent Academy,
00:29which is coming up very soon.
00:31Where's my girls at?
00:36I remember the moment very vividly because he walked up right to me,
00:41wrapped me in a very big hug, and said,
00:44It is so nice to meet you, Tiffany.
00:46And I said, Well, that's great.
00:49It's funny because when someone that handsome, that young,
00:53and that sort of infectious smile right there,
00:56you're like, Okay, is this guy for real?
00:59Or does he want something from me?
01:02And I have to say it's the latter.
01:04He really, not the latter, the former, excuse me.
01:08But maybe he does.
01:09It's the former.
01:10He is one of the sweetest, nicest young men I have met in a very, very long time.
01:16I told him the feeling was very mutual,
01:18and that co-starring with him already had earned me the coolest mom award in status from my teenage daughter,
01:26which if you have a teenager,
01:29I don't know if there's a lot of moms and dads in the room,
01:31you basically know it's kind of like the Nobel Prize of parenting.
01:36At that point, everything I knew about Malachi came from Instagram or TikTok clips that my daughter kept sending me.
01:43But it didn't take long because after working with him,
01:47I could see that this was a young man who knew it was the real deal.
01:50A true professional, someone caring and respectful of others,
01:54and always with enough positive energy that I generally wondered what he was eating for breakfast every morning.
02:01I'm here tonight to present Malachi Barton with the Rising Star Award.
02:06Thank you for all of a sudden being very quiet.
02:09Getting to work alongside him and getting to know him actually as a person this past year has truly been
02:16an honor.
02:17His charisma, his undeniable talent, and above all, his genuine heart will carry him further.
02:25I'm so grateful to have a front row seat to everything that's ahead for him,
02:30and it's going to be a lot.
02:31And honestly, I'm a little grateful to my daughter who finally thinks I'm actually cool,
02:35even if it's just by association.
