00:01okay so uh doug's failed postseason success plan it was a three-point plan
00:09and uh where has it gone awry uh it was built around uh the first first the the premise that
00:15detroit had a true superstar who's turned into an elite finisher in games he will get calls
00:22and he's great in the fourth quarter for a good portion of the season he led the nba in fourth
00:26quarter scoring um okay yeah i still have a lot of faith in cade and i still think you build

00:33team around cade uh but something that didn't happen last night was cade did not perform in
00:38the fourth quarter and he has performed in the fourth quarter in this series um and there's
00:42plenty examples of it but last night he was 0 for 5 in the fourth quarter 0 for 3 from
00:473 2 for 4 from
00:49the free throw line uh no assists and um did have three rebounds but he did not have a great
00:58fourth
00:59quarter so in a game in a must-win game one of my points goes completely out the window point

01:05the pistons are better at center than they were a year ago jalen duran just played his first his
01:11worst four game stretch offensively going back to january of last year i thought duran had improved
01:19enough and that the the guy that they would take into the postseason was way better than the guy
01:25they took into the postseason last year even though it was the same guy thought he matured grown and it
01:31has not been reflected at all in postseason performance my third point was that the pistons
01:35three-point specialists would be better than beasley was a year ago and that actually is the case so far
01:41even though duncan didn't shoot a great last night he's shooting a higher percentage from three than
01:47beasley did beasley really struggled last year in the postseason but but they've also made fewer
01:51three-pointers this year than they did last year total they have and a significant amount and he is
01:57um you know he's just they they need him to be better they need duran to be better and then

02:03be better and i built the case around those three guys and none of it is you know duncan is
02:07a more
02:08proven playoff performer in his career he was shooting better than 40 from three in the postseason
02:14but uh he's at a point in his career you have to wonder if they're diminishing returns whereas in
02:18cade endurance case they're at points in their career where i've heard conclusions being drawn
02:24about both of them you're never going to win with these guys blah blah blah blah one's 24 the other's
02:2922 there i believe strongly in the career arc of players and the ability to get better now a lot
02:39of that
02:39has to do with their work ethic their desire how much they want to win and the people that know

02:46on that are the people that run the pistons they know those guys better than you or i or anybody

02:51it's a very tough call with duran and um do they let him walk
02:58because you know it sucks to let a guy walk and then have him blossom but it also what's happened

03:04in the postseason is the least compelling case to bring it back on a max contract ever
03:09i just i just sorry yeah i just feel like he's just hemorrhaging money this whole series like he
03:13was a max guy heading into the series whether you thought he was worth or not it's a different story
03:18you have to overpay for players in the league it's just the way contract work it's the market right
03:22but after four games it's like you can't justify it at least a max contract i mean they're in a
03:28different place now than they were say seven years ago but is duran effectively andre drummond
03:35is that what he's turning into i mean i feel like he's got so much more of a ceiling than
03:41drummond did
03:43but in the end drummond was a you know 20 and 12 guy or whatever he was in his career
03:47and and
03:48blocked some shots but it didn't have much of a an offensive game other than right around the rim
03:53which is fine if you can get those shots off and it was fine for the regular season but in
04:00now in
04:01the postseason jaylen duran is struggling mightily because he can't figure it out and the pistons
04:08can't figure it out and we're in a weird spot where when they name the all nba team we do

04:14duran to make it now because it would trigger an escalator in his contract to get 25 to 30 percent

09:02orlando has done some things that have made him life difficult on the offensive end that was not
09:06one of them this team has to take better care of the basketball period they're doing a great job
09:11defensively keep doing that recognize orlando's going to knock down a couple three-point shots
09:16that's fine but they keep doing what they're doing defensively holding orlando shooting below 40
09:22percent from the field you should win games if you're taking care of the basketball just be a
09:28little bit better and they have these games won but they've been so atrocious with it 20 turnovers
09:34yesterday i mean they got down by double digits in the first quarter yesterday and they battled back
09:39then they had a double digit lead in the second quarter and but then the problem still rear their
09:45ugly heads they kept turning it over and like you said in the fourth quarter not making free throws and
09:51one field goal made and it was meaningless with the last second in the last five minutes
