01:48this is lively it's a Land Rover mate we love them because they're awful right talking of that who we're
01:55seeing
01:55Yeah, seeing Dave.
01:57Oh, right.
01:58Now, Dave...
01:58Now, you've talked about him.
02:00Yeah.
02:00Now, Dave has a lot of different stuff,
02:02so he has a kind of broad selection of motor cars.
02:08Is he the guy who had a tile shop?
02:09Yes, that's right.
02:11He also has a penchant for an enamel side.
02:15Does he?
02:16Oh, he does, yeah.
02:17And other accoutrement and trinkets.
02:22Whether we come back with a more comfortable car,
02:24an enamel sign,
02:26or two square metres of ceramic kitchen tiles, who knows?
02:30But Dave's place in Stroud, here we come.
02:34Tell me why you got into Bentleys and rollers
02:37and basically luxury, luxury transport.
02:40Yes.
02:41Yeah.
02:41Just a bit of a poser, I suppose.
02:43Are you, isn't it?
02:44I want to be, but...
02:45You see, that's refreshing as well.
02:47Somebody says, yeah, I just want to pose about in them.
02:49Yeah, great, mate.
02:50That's what they're there for.
02:51Yeah, brilliant stuff.
02:52Tell me how you got into it all, then.
02:54Well, back in 2004, I bought the first Bentley
02:57and I've always liked my cars, so that was it.
03:00And it just went on from there, really.
03:02Did it?
03:02But Dave, there are other vehicles here.
03:04Yes.
03:05Yes.
03:05Yes.
03:06More in our price range, hopefully.
03:08Yes, there is indeed.
03:09Do you have any other things like signs or petrol pumps or...
03:12Yeah, we have some signs and petrol pumps inside,
03:14so we can go in and have a look at those next.
03:16And the important thing, though, is everything for sale?
03:20Most things are for sale.
03:21Most, okay.
03:22If the price is right.
03:23Aren't they?
03:23Oh, right, okay.
03:24Hey, look, Dave, we'll have a rummage around.
03:26Okay, brilliant.
03:27And then we'll ask you to come and join us for something,
03:29just, you know, if you need any information about anything.
03:31That's fine, yeah.
03:32And then at the end of it, hopefully we'll have a haggle.
03:34Make us some offers.
03:35Yeah, definitely.
03:36Dave, thank you so very much.
03:38Cheers, Dave.
03:39All right, well, we're going to go over to the cheap seats over there.
03:41You don't want to have a look here?
03:43Uh, no.
03:44Come on.
03:45Yeah, all right, yeah, go on then.
03:46Go on, let's just...
03:46I do, I will, I will, Dave.
03:48Let's just have a look at the back here.
03:50All right, mate, we'll see you in a bit.
03:50Okay.
03:53I don't think we're going to be haggling on anything in this shed,
03:56but we've got to look.
03:57He's got a 6.7 litre Rolls-Royce Ghost.
04:01I could see myself in one of these.
04:03I bet you could.
04:03Yeah.
04:04Unfortunately.
04:04Yes.
04:05I'm very sorry, but that's not going to happen.
04:08A Bentley convertible.
04:11These, the old one, 0405 plate, you can pick them up for not a lot of money.
04:15They are very affordable, but you need to buy one that has really been looked after.
04:20Nice, though.
04:21Yes, it is nice.
04:22And an older roller that would have made John Lennon proud.
04:26Out of all of them here, I mean, if I had to pick one, that would be mine.
04:30I think so.
04:31I think so.
04:32Do you know what I mean?
04:32I would have it paisley wrapped, though.
04:34Would you?
04:34I'm a Beatles fan.
04:36None of these are really affordable, but at the back, there is something that might be.
04:41Now, this is a Jaguar 240, so it's the smallest engine out of the Mark II range.
04:48It was Inspector Morse's favourite car, but you don't need to be a detective to figure out why.
04:54Fast, comfortable and enjoyable to drive.
04:57As the ads proclaimed, it offered grace, space and pace.
05:02These are the most affordable of all of the Mark IIs because it's got the non-hide interior.
05:09Ambler, they call it.
05:10What, vinyl?
05:11Yeah, it kind of is, yeah.
05:12And they don't have the spotlights on the front.
05:15They just have a couple of grills mimicking the spotlights.
05:17Okay, but I've got two.
05:18And they've got the thin bumpers as well.
05:20But look, look.
05:21Dave is a man of quality and detail.
05:24This is immaculate.
05:25Yeah, I like it.
05:27You know, I like this.
05:27It's a lovely car.
05:29I wonder if that's for sale.
05:31Moving outside in search of those elusive cheap seats.
05:35All right, now things are getting interesting here, aren't they?
05:39Yes, this is our street.
05:42This is it, mate.
05:43Down our alley.
05:44Our first target is a slightly less pristine roller, a silver spur.
05:50Now, this, I think, is a little bit more rock and roll.
05:53It is a roller.
05:55But it's of the age where the prices are quite low.
05:59You give me an idea now.
06:00What's that?
06:01Now, tell me that that colour ain't that great.
06:04What happens if we were to acquire this and it was the right price?
06:09You think it would paint, not rattle canning a Rolls Royce.
06:12Yeah.
06:13Really?
06:13You're going to, you're thinking of...
06:16So we paint it matte black.
06:18Yeah.
06:18Yeah, and then we get Pete the Sign Writer in to put rock and roller down the side.
06:25Just a thought.
06:26Something tells me Fuzz ain't quite convinced.
06:29But next door, he perks up.
06:32Ooh, come on.
06:34Let's have a look.
06:35Yeah.
06:35Yes.
06:36It just gets better and better around every corner.
06:39Now, here is the big Merc of the late 50s.
06:44Okay.
06:44This is the Adenauer, in fact, maybe even the mid-50s.
06:47I think it's the Adenauer or something.
06:49Now, they used to do...
06:50The what?
06:51The Adenauer.
06:52Not as in Adenauer.
06:54A bit like when they changed the clocks.
06:59Named after West Germany's first Prime Minister, Conrad Adenauer, the Mercedes Adenauer range
07:06included both huge presidential limousines and sportier coupes.
07:13These, ordinarily, are great big long limousines that are a big favourite of jumped up despots
07:22who like to push people around and basically are not very nice to them.
07:27Are you having a go?
07:29No.
07:29This is a short wheelbase one.
07:31This is for lovely people.
07:32Oh, okay.
07:33Yeah, good.
07:33Like you.
07:35There we go.
07:36How much...
07:36Is that enough smoke there?
07:38Yeah, yeah, it is.
07:38That's really nice, that Austin.
07:40Right.
07:41So, this is an Austin...
07:42I think the official designation is an A60.
07:44Right.
07:45But it's an Austin pickup.
07:46This one's probably late 1960s.
07:49It's had a little bit of work on it here and there, but that's quite nice.
07:52That's all right.
07:53I love the interior.
07:54Yeah, the interior's good.
07:56It's column change as well, so you can fit your two workmates in there as well as the driver.
08:03But the other thing is, look at the length of the bed in the back there.
08:08What's that big enough for?
08:11Coffin?
08:11I was thinking more motorcycle.
08:14Oh, yeah.
08:15For the likes of you, that is an ideal sort of classic pickup.
08:19All right.
08:19It's a possibility, isn't it?
08:21Come on, that's a possibility.
08:22Where do you want to go next?
08:23Do you want to go inside or...?
08:25I don't know.
08:25Let's just turn right, shall we?
08:26Okay, let's do that.
08:30Inside Dave's shop, it's even more surprising.
08:33Hold on.
08:34Look, just turn that way.
08:35No, no, no, this way, this way.
08:37That's like looking in a mirror, isn't it?
08:40Oof!
08:42Amazing, look.
08:44Oh, Fuzz, look at this.
08:45Oh, yeah, I'm there.
08:46Hey?
08:47I'm absolutely there.
08:48Beer.
08:49No, no, not the beer.
08:51What?
08:51Check the helicopter out.
08:52Oh, yeah.
08:52I'll tell you who would love that if it goes like this.
08:56Yeah.
08:56Jellybean.
08:57Very true.
08:59Look, look, look.
09:01Wow.
09:01Look at the cans.
09:02I wasn't expecting this.
09:04Neither was I.
09:05This is Dave's tile shop.
09:06Yeah.
09:07But it's absolutely adorned with everything.
09:10Dave.
09:11Mate.
09:12I'm getting old.
09:12I don't move as fast as I used to.
09:14Relax, relax, relax.
09:15Take it easy, man.
09:15You don't need to sit down or anything.
09:17No.
09:17Tell me how long it's taking you to collect all those two-gallon cans.
09:20It's probably over the past 20 years.
09:23Is it?
09:24Yeah.
09:25Wow.
09:26They are fantastic, though, aren't they?
09:28And the signs as well.
09:30So do people come in here for tiles, and are they taken aback by everything else you've got in here?
09:35Yeah, some people come in just to look at the collections and bits and pieces and the cars.
09:40Everywhere you look, there is something to focus on.
09:44Yeah, which is a wonder through here, Dave.
09:45Thanks so much.
09:46Thanks a lot, mate.
09:53Dave's next shed combines both cars and trinkets.
09:57Vintage petrol signs.
09:59R.O.P.
10:00Yeah.
10:00Russian oil products.
10:03Mystery objet.
10:05All I do know, though, is I've never ever seen one.
10:09Something to get you noticed.
10:12Oh, that's great, isn't it?
10:14Oh, mate, I love that.
10:15Just imagine that as your doorbell.
10:16Or your alarm call.
10:18You might get a little bit bored of that, yeah.
10:20Yeah.
10:22And several Morris miners, including a rare gown van.
10:26These were used by dry cleaners and also alterations companies.
10:32Tailors and that kind of stuff.
10:33Yeah, tailors, all that kind of stuff.
10:35We could stay here forever, but before we get overwhelmed, we've got to take stock.
10:46All right.
10:47All right.
10:47All right.
10:48All right.
10:53That's nice.
10:53That's lovely.
10:54Just because I think pickups like that are really easy to sell on.
10:58I really want to buy all his petrol cans, but obviously it's taken him 20 years to collect
11:01them.
11:02That's right.
11:02I mean, that is a display feature for his business.
11:05I think we've got quite a few things.
11:06Yeah.
11:07If you just top of those, yeah.
11:09Trinkets to the motor.
11:10Shall we go see?
11:10Yeah.
11:11Come on.
11:11Let's go and ask a few questions.
11:12Yeah, let's.
11:13Inquire.
11:13Yeah.
11:18Hey, look, before we start on motors, can I just ask you, can I offer you on that sign?
11:24You can indeed, yes.
11:26Yeah.
11:26What about 100 quid for that?
11:29Seems fair.
11:31Good deal.
11:32Are those parts washers, or what are they?
11:35Do you know?
11:35I'm not really sure.
11:38They're old.
11:39Yeah.
11:39I can see that.
11:40How much for a pair?
11:42For the pair.
11:4360 pound?
11:45Yeah.
11:47A mechanical horn.
11:49There is.
11:50That Fuzz has been playing with.
11:51Mechanical claxon horn.
11:52Yeah.
11:52And how much do you want for that?
11:53Yeah.
11:53Make me an offer.
11:5640 quid?
11:57Yeah, I think that's fair enough.
11:5840 quid.
11:59All right, mate.
11:59Great.
12:00Okay.
12:00We'll turn that up later.
12:01That was a good one.
12:01Hang on.
12:0240, 200 we're in.
12:04Yeah.
12:04At the moment.
12:04That's a good figure, isn't it?
12:05Okay.
12:06Now then, let's talk about cars.
12:07Okay.
12:08Go on then, Fuzz.
12:08The white Jaguar 240.
12:10Oh, yeah.
12:10Nice.
12:11Is that available?
12:11It's available.
12:13That would be £10,000.
12:15Okay.
12:15Actually, quite rightly, it's in immaculate condition.
12:18It's a lovely thing.
12:19Can I ask about the Morris Minor gown van?
12:23The gown van, yes.
12:24That's a lovely old thing.
12:25Yes.
12:25It might be a bit too much work for us, but is that for sale?
12:28Well, I've got to ask about £5,000 for that.
12:31Okay.
12:32Okay.
12:32Let's talk about something that perhaps I'm not totally in love with, but at the same time.
12:37That white roller over there.
12:39The white roller, yes.
12:40Yeah.
12:40Silver Spur.
12:41Tell me about that.
12:42It's a good car.
12:43It's a nice old car, and it's got the rear end goes down a little bit.
12:49Right.
12:50But when you start it up, it comes back up again.
12:52Okay.
12:52But in the back, in the boot, in the corners are like tubs, if you want.
12:57Yeah.
12:58Which is part of the suspension.
12:59Yes.
12:59They may want bleeding.
13:01Okay.
13:01Or readjusting.
13:02Okay.
13:02So possibly.
13:03Right there.
13:04Well, it pays you money.
13:06It takes your chances, don't you?
13:07The one rear door card is off.
13:11That's right.
13:11I noticed that.
13:11Because the electric window doesn't work.
13:14Okay.
13:14And I'm fiddling about with that, and I've got a new piece for it, or a second-hand piece
13:18to go in there.
13:19And the wood for in the front on the dash is all here.
13:21I've just taken them off and re-varnished them, ready to go back on.
13:24Fabulous.
13:24So that's all there.
13:26All right.
13:26So there's stuff to do.
13:27Yeah.
13:28How much is that?
13:29Bargain price of £5,000.
13:32Would you take four for the roller, the white roller?
13:35Four and a half.
13:50We're in Stroud with Dave and his amazing collection.
13:55Anna!
13:56Oh, that's great, isn't it?
13:58We've already bought a trove of trinkets, and now we're bidding on a Rolls-Royce Silver
14:03Spur.
14:05Would you take four for the roller, the white roller?
14:08Four and a half.
14:11I think that's fair.
14:12I think that's fair.
14:13You've met in the middle at that point.
14:14Yeah, so that means, in total, if we do that, I owe you £4,700.
14:19That's about right, Henry, yeah.
14:21Come on then, mate.
14:21We'll have a laugh with that roller.
14:27Back at base next day, it's time to contemplate what we've done, or should I say, admit.
14:35I think we did really well in that shed.
14:37It was brilliant, yeah.
14:38It was really great, some great stuff there.
14:40There's some great stuff.
14:41Can I just say, Fuzzer, you're going to get a surprise as well.
14:44There is something out there that we did talk about, and you thought that we weren't going
14:50to buy.
14:51I couldn't resist it, so I went back and got it.
14:53I'm intrigued.
14:54Yes, you might be.
14:55Go on.
14:56Come on.
14:56Come on, then.
14:57Go on.
14:58Oh, here we go.
14:59That's a bit proper, isn't it?
15:00That's fantastic.
15:01I love these.
15:01It's majestic.
15:03I absolutely love these.
15:04It's so long.
15:05How long can you get?
15:06Yeah, well, it's very white as well, isn't it?
15:08It is, yeah.
15:09It is very white.
15:09It is like a beached whale.
15:11Well, look, I think we'll put the door card in, yeah?
15:13We'll get it running nice, yeah?
15:15Make sure it's all cool, take it for a test drive, and then we'll contemplate any adornment.
15:19And talking of adornments, our sign needs a quick rub down, and then I've got a plan.
15:25You seem to have gone large this time.
15:27That's huge.
15:28The car's huge.
15:29Yeah, it is.
15:30As it was cheap, we'll wash it, but I think I want to put it on that wall.
15:35Yeah, very nice.
15:35I think it's nice with blue.
15:37Yeah.
15:37If you don't mind us losing, well, we're not losing, we're just investing, but it's just
15:41up on the wall.
15:42Yeah.
15:43I think it's good.
15:44I think that will look brilliant.
15:45Okay, great.
15:45All right, so that's Russian oil products, the ROP, as we all know.
15:50Yeah.
15:50Cheap Russian fuel, right?
15:52They were trying to get in, back in the day, into the UK market with cheap Russian fuel.
15:57No change there, then.
15:59Hey!
16:00Right, helicoptering.
16:02Oh, no.
16:02I couldn't resist it.
16:04At 150 quid, a snip.
16:06What do you reckon?
16:07Gosh.
16:08Who says Henry's no fun?
16:10One thing that's good about that though, it's attached to the ground permanently.
16:12Yes.
16:13And you can fly that one.
16:14I can fly that one.
16:15The trouble is though, there's always...
16:17You can't fly that one.
16:18What do you mean?
16:19You are not going to get in there.
16:22Says who?
16:23We're in.
16:23Out comes a 50 pence piece.
16:26It's a 50p.
16:28Here we go.
16:28Watch yourself.
16:29I'll be amazed if this works.
16:30No, it does work!
16:31And in goes the pilot.
16:33You're in.
16:33That's it.
16:34Just a little bit more.
16:36Careful.
16:36Hey, kid.
16:37Seriously.
16:38No, no.
16:38I'm stuck now and I'm in trouble.
16:40Right, really.
16:40Is there an emergency stop?
16:43No.
16:44I don't know how you stop it.
16:45As for the other items, stand by because this is loud.
16:49The klaxon's good as it is.
16:52And our mystery oil dispensers, stroke parts washers, just need a clean up.
16:57Look, this does...
16:59They do move, so maybe we can take them apart, clean them up internally and maybe, who knows,
17:05we could get them working.
17:05You know what we need?
17:06We need a parts washer.
17:10Good point.
17:11Well delivered.
17:12Bigger one.
17:12Bigger one.
17:13Okay, so look, we've got our work cut out with these, right?
17:15But I think we've got quite a good haul.
17:17What do you reckon?
17:19I think it's great, yeah.
17:20Especially the car.
17:21I love the car.
17:22Yeah, right.
17:22Well, shall we start with the car?
17:24If you're driving that, you are going to look so dodgy.
17:28I know.
17:29You are going to look the dodgyest person I've ever seen.
17:32That's what excites me.
17:33That is the Rolls-Royce status, isn't it?
17:35They say the car picks the person.
17:38Oh, I love it.
17:39I want to look wide.
17:41And on that note, time to get rolling.
17:45The Silver Spur was one of Rolls-Royce's most successful models, staying in production
17:50for 20 years.
17:51It was fitted with self-leveling suspension, but as Dave warned us, the pneumatic spheres
17:58that control it may be worn out.
18:06Smoking it.
18:07This will sort it out.
18:09Don't you worry.
18:11Oh dear, look.
18:12If we're lucky, a quick trip round the paddock will loosen things up.
18:18Do you know, it's quite smooth, isn't it?
18:20It is.
18:20I think the suspension's not too bad.
18:23No, it's fine.
18:23But even if it doesn't, our test ride's a lot of fun.
18:27I think it's remarkably comfortable.
18:28It is, isn't it?
18:29It is, isn't it?
18:34That was it!
18:37Watch out, Bean.
18:38Sit down.
18:38The dog's panicking.
18:40OK, I think we've done enough.
18:41OK.
18:42We've ripped the field apart.
18:43Well, as for whether our field test has loosened up the suspension, the jury's out.
18:52Right.
18:53Right.
18:53What do you think, Bean?
18:55Out you get, Al.
18:57I think I might have...
18:59I thought it was all right.
19:01It's done me field a bit.
19:03Bean, did you enjoy that?
19:05Look at that.
19:06What a mess.
19:07I know.
19:07Don't tell my darling wife.
19:09Just as well.
19:09You can't see it from up above.
19:11OK, so look, is it fixed now or not?
19:15It's moving.
19:16But it'll be all right.
19:17It'll ride up with wear so.
19:18It might do.
19:19It might do.
19:20I still think that the spheres may have become defective.
19:24Perished a little bit.
19:25OK, well, can we check them out?
19:26It's got a perished membrane.
19:27Why don't we go back and check them out tomorrow once we've...
19:30Yeah, we need to jack it up and also get the pressure out of the suspension system.
19:353,000 psi.
19:36Yeah, there's a lot of pressure in there.
19:38That's a lot of work, man.
19:39Cut through your arm, that was...
19:40Sorry, man.
19:40I've done my bit.
19:41Work through your hand, don't we?
19:43Oh, here we go.
19:45Next day, while we're waiting for a specialist suspension engineer, Fuzz and Skid work on
19:51the rear door.
19:52Can I just say, Fuzz?
19:53Yeah.
19:54I have never been behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce before.
19:57OK, how does it...
19:57I've been in the passenger seat but never behind the wheel.
20:00No one's ever let me loose in one of these.
20:02How does it feel?
20:04Regal.
20:04Do you want to start it up, Skid?
20:06Give me a go.
20:06Yeah, it's in park.
20:07Yeah.
20:09You'll make a good chauffeur yet.
20:10You can drive me around anywhere.
20:12Oh.
20:12Cool.
20:13The good news is that the electric windows all seem to work.
20:16OK, yeah.
20:17Down is down.
20:18OK, and up is up.
20:19The less good news is that reassembling the rear door is a Mensa-class challenge.
20:24How many years old is this car?
20:26This car is, I think it's a 1984 or 1985.
20:32So, I think it's just January 1985.
20:35So, it's currently 41 years old as we do this.
20:39Right.
20:40Yeah.
20:40Right.
20:41Let's get this in.
20:44I reckon this is in first, I think.
20:46No, that's a captive nut behind it.
20:48It does go this side.
20:48Yeah, it does.
20:49Yeah.
20:49Yeah.
20:50Like all Rolls Royces, there's no expense spared when it comes to the finishing.
20:55The door trim is burled walnut and the door buttons are chrome-plated.
21:00I bet that elastic band when it goes is 50 quid.
21:05The tanned leather door card is made up of two interlocking panels.
21:11This goes up and under.
21:13Oh, there's your up and under.
21:14It's got to go forward.
21:15There we go.
21:16Right.
21:17Oh, wait a minute.
21:18Hold on.
21:21And even the padded armrest is a two-part assembly with its own internal light.
21:27Right.
21:28So, there we are.
21:29All there remains to do is double check everything still works.
21:34I'm your chauffeur for the day.
21:36So, sir, if you would like to step into your carriage.
21:39Right.
21:40Thank you, Willison.
21:42Give it a go.
21:44Right.
21:44You do your window.
21:45See if your switch works.
21:47Well, that works.
21:49Brilliant.
21:49That's cool.
21:50There we go.
21:51That is all working, Fuzz, and the card is on.
21:53Yeah.
21:54Okay.
21:54And just try operating your door lock.
21:58Yes.
21:59And up.
22:00Yes.
22:01That's a healthy clunk.
22:02Excellent.
22:02That is a healthy clunk.
22:03So, that means that everything, I think, that's in there is working.
22:09Perfect.
22:10So, a good start.
22:11But there's plenty to do getting all our trinkets up to Rolls-Royce standard.
22:16As for the suspension, our perusal of my paddock may have been a bit of fun.
22:21But getting the roller fit for a proper road trip is going to require a lot more work.
22:41We had a good first day yesterday, living at large in our Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.
22:46Look.
22:49Next up, we need to sort out the suspension system.
22:52But first on today's list, trinket cleaning.
22:59I've got my boiler suit on.
23:01Oh, there we are.
23:01It doesn't necessarily mean I'll be doing any work.
23:04No.
23:05But at the same time, I have brought a bucket of love and understanding.
23:10There it goes.
23:11So, we've got to clean that.
23:14We've got to clean that.
23:16And we've got to clean them.
23:17OK.
23:18The oil dispensers are going to need the most work.
23:22So, in time-honoured fashion, we'll put them off as long as possible.
23:27Fuzz tackles the helicopter.
23:29And me and Skid work on the ROP sign.
23:32First with soap and water.
23:34And then with household cleaner.
23:36It's not doing a lot, is it?
23:37It is removing soap.
23:39Oh, yeah, it is, yeah.
23:41It's making it whiter.
23:44In the 1930s, ROP, Russian Oil Products, had almost 10% of the British market.
23:51Today, the brand's long forgotten, but signs and ephemera like this go for a packet.
23:57It's going to look great on a wall, this.
23:59Isn't it?
24:01Oh, I thought it was going to be sold.
24:03I didn't think you'd see it at all.
24:04No, no, I want it on a wall here.
24:06Oh, OK.
24:06It was only 100 quid.
24:08I think it's a very good price, you know.
24:10Are you having fun there, Fuzz?
24:12Yeah.
24:13I feel more comfortable with this rather than the large ones.
24:16There's no perspex to break on this one.
24:17No, I can do far less damage.
24:21It's impossible to value attractions like our helicopter,
24:24but after a wash and blow-dry, the price will soar.
24:28I'll stand clear.
24:32Do you mind?
24:34I'm just trying to dry this off.
24:37I'm done.
24:39Oh, no, you're not.
24:41After his sterly work on the ROP sign, Skid moves on to the oil dispenser.
24:46That's coming up lovely, Skid.
24:48Shlovely.
24:48I think that's enough, don't you?
24:50No, keep going.
24:51You reckon?
24:51Yeah.
24:52Just a little bit of oil makes a huge impact on old metal like this.
24:57It's like one of the name plates on a steam engine.
24:59It looks beautiful, man.
25:01God, that's great.
25:02Look at it.
25:03All been hidden away for years.
25:06That's added a tenner.
25:07Hasn't it, just?
25:08What do you reckon, Fuzz?
25:10Oh, now you're talking.
25:12Yeah.
25:12That's coming up brilliantly.
25:14Oh, they're lovely.
25:15Yeah.
25:15Yeah.
25:16Cripes.
25:16That's really added value.
25:18I think if we got these trays out and really gave them a good clean out, maybe, well, maybe
25:24we could coax them back into action.
25:25I'm going to run off with one of these and see on the mop what it does.
25:29Get on the mop.
25:29Yeah.
25:30Yeah, great.
25:30I think we need to use some engine degrease and jet wash the tops.
25:34Yeah, OK.
25:35Just to get all the gunges off.
25:37Yeah, yeah.
25:38While Skid polishes the pump handles, Fuzz delves into the filthy depths of the oil reservoir.
25:44Not nice.
25:47Guy can clean that out.
25:49Yeah.
25:50I'm feeling unusual.
25:51I think I might have to go to bed.
25:53I've got a good idea.
25:55Yeah.
25:55Walk away from here and then Guy can come back and pick up from where we left off.
26:00Perfect.
26:08The day finishes with Fuzz refitting the bulbs to the helicopter ride.
26:13What a lovely day we've had, boys.
26:15That's true.
26:16Yeah.
26:17Should I put...
26:18Yeah, go on.
26:18Just to finish it off for the evening.
26:20OK.
26:21Are you ready?
26:22Yeah, I'm ready.
26:24That's excellent news.
26:27That's good.
26:28Oh!
26:29There we go.
26:31It's louder.
26:32It is louder.
26:33Oh, yeah.
26:34I turned up the volume.
26:35Oh, it is loud.
26:35Oh, yeah.
26:37This is fat.
26:39What's he saying?
26:40I don't know.
26:42You have to be a kid to understand.
26:46Ready for take-off.
26:49Ready for take-off.
26:56Ready for take-off.
27:02Yeah.
27:03It's basically a Citroen hydraulic sphere.
27:05It's filled with nitrogen.
27:07It's got a bladder in it.
27:08It's basically giving you the bounce.
27:09This is full of air, and that's what the car's floating on.
27:12The expectation, the spheres have blown on this one, so the diaphragm's popped.
27:17There's no air in there.
27:18There's no bounce.
27:19Right.
27:19It's rock solid.
27:20These will go on.
27:21It'll float lovely.
27:22You'll be floating on air.
27:23Is it nitrogen gas?
27:25Because that doesn't change with temperature, the pressure.
27:27Someone's done that homework.
27:28Is that what it is?
27:29Oh, look at that.
27:30It's not just a pretty face, is it?
27:32They use it in racing tires.
27:33It's not even that, mate.
27:34I'll tell you.
27:34Look at him.
27:34They use it in racing car tires because when the tires get different temperatures, the pressure doesn't change.
27:41Oh.
27:42That's pretty amazing.
27:43That's probably why I thought they might use it in that same kind of thing.
27:46Oh, right.
27:47Yeah, you should have known that.
27:48I'll get me coat.
27:49Well, best of luck.
27:50Oh, you're not helping.
27:51What?
27:52You're not helping.
27:52I can't hear you.
27:53What?
27:53He is helping.
27:54He's going.
27:55Yeah, actually.
27:56It's funny.
27:57I just lose my hearing sometimes.
27:59Yeah, there he goes.
28:01Right, so Jamie, what's the process?
28:02I have done a little bit of research and I've jacked it up and just relaxed the suspension.
28:08Relaxed, isn't it?
28:09Pressure out of the system, otherwise we'll have green stuff everywhere.
28:12A lot of fluid.
28:13We'll get a lot of fluid.
28:14So we'll depressurize the system.
28:15Yes.
28:16And it's just a matter of unscrewing the original ones and then swapping them over for
28:19these.
28:20First things first, Fuzz goes under the car to drain off some hydraulic fluid.
28:26How's that?
28:27Yeah.
28:28Here's a receptacle.
28:29Okay, thank you very much.
28:31The danger is that when Fuzz opens the valve, pressurized fluid could come splurting out,
28:37but fortunately, it's not so dramatic.
28:40We have fluid dripping out, which is good.
28:45Once the pressure's been released, Fuzz moves on to the pneumatic spheres.
28:49Are they hand tight or are they super tight?
28:51They go on hand tight, but that's probably been there for a very long time, so we'll need a special
28:56tool.
28:57With the aid of a dedicated strap wrench, Fuzz loosens off the old sphere.
29:03Uncrack it.
29:03Is this going to spray all over me now?
29:05Yeah.
29:05It shouldn't, but it might.
29:07And saying a prayer to Eligius, the patron saint of mechanics, removes it gingerly.
29:14There we go.
29:15So, I can see lots of fluid there.
29:17So, the diaphragm's gone.
29:18The sphere's full of hydraulic fluid.
29:20Okay.
29:20We've got rock hard suspension.
29:22Jamie steps up to fit the new sphere.
29:24The space is so small that everything has to be done by feel.
29:29Has the seal come off?
29:30The seal's come off.
29:31I can see that.
29:33But after a little fun and games with an errant seal, it's in.
29:37Yay.
29:37There we are.
29:39Right.
29:39So, that's one completed.
29:41That's on hand tight.
29:42That's all it has to do.
29:43Right.
29:43Okay.
29:43So, same again.
29:45The second sphere is a little more awkward because the space is even tighter.
29:50But ten minutes later, both have been replaced and we're still alive to tell the tale.
29:57In theory, do up the bleeds underneath.
30:00Yeah.
30:00This will bounce.
30:01Job done.
30:02Fuzz goes back underneath to tighten the bleed nipples, tops up the hydraulic fluid and then
30:07tests it out.
30:09Shall we just have a little bounce at the back?
30:11Yeah.
30:13It bounces.
30:14Or it floats.
30:16Well, it's floating.
30:17On air.
30:17Floats on air.
30:18There you go.
30:18On nitrogen actually.
30:20There.
30:20Well, because I tried to release it.
30:23Just drifting it.
30:24It didn't work.
30:25No.
30:26No.
30:26Well, look.
30:27That's job done.
30:28Fantastic.
30:28Fantastic news.
30:29I mean, it's only taken three hours.
30:31It's fantastic.
30:31Yeah, but I mean, it's worth it, isn't it?
30:32I think that's an absolute result because if that hadn't worked.
30:35Yeah.
30:36We were in a world of trouble from what I hear.
30:38It would have been.
30:38Yeah, no, exactly.
30:39No, no.
30:40That is fantastic, lads.
30:41Jamie, thank you so much.
30:42Yes, thank you, Jamie.
30:43Fuzzer, thank you so much.
30:45Yeah.
30:45This is marvellous.
30:46And I didn't do a lot.
30:47No, neither did I.
30:48But, you know, no change there then.
30:51All that remains is to finish the oil dispensers.
30:54It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.
30:58Eenie, meenie, miney, skid.
31:01Everyone's abandoned me.
31:03And can I just say, this is the most hideous job.
31:07I now know why everyone's disappeared.
31:09This one inside isn't too bad.
31:12I've given it a little bit of a scrape and a rummage in there.
31:16This one is absolutely hideous.
31:20So I'm just going to jet wash them out.
31:25Now, in the past, we've argued about what you should and shouldn't use a jet wash for.
31:31But apart from a visit to the skip, this really is the ideal restoration tool for this job.
31:36Oh, these are purely decorative items.
31:42Once the chicken tikka has all been banished, skid begins the much more pleasant task of reassembling.
31:49We still don't know exactly what they were used for, do we?
31:53I think they might be kind of paraffin or something like that, yeah.
31:56When I was a kid, in the early 1970s, when the strikes...
32:00I thought you were saying early 19th century then.
32:01No, no, no, I'm not as old as you.
32:04But in the early 1970s, when all the strikes were on, we were using old paraffin lamps, you know, with
32:09a wick and stuff like that.
32:11So perhaps that's exactly what this is.
32:14Have one of these down in your shed or in your coal shed and you just fill your paraffin lamp
32:20with it.
32:22Putting the oil dispensers back together is not quite as complex as the Rolls-Royce's door card.
32:28But five minutes later, it's all done and don't they look good?
32:32I do like these things, Fuzz. I think they're rather charming.
32:35Yeah, I know what you mean. It's like I've never seen them before.
32:38No.
32:39And here we are with two.
32:42I'm just going to put my plunger down.
32:44Let's just give that a little polish and check my plug works.
32:49Yeah.
32:50Then, down it goes.
32:53Flip over the catch and there it is.
32:57Completely portable.
32:58They look like an absolute picture, those.
32:59They do, yeah.
33:00And then when you open it up now, it's all nice and bleak.
33:02I mean, look at that.
33:03Yeah.
33:03What's not to like about that?
33:05That's a thing of beauty, isn't it?
33:06And that's going to look great in workshops.
33:10So we've sorted the trinkets, the signage and the novelty ride.
33:15Do you mind?
33:16Tomorrow, we'll take the roller on a regal road trip.
33:19But will we float on air?
33:21Or will the spirit of ecstasy turn out to be agony?
33:35A month ago, behind a tile shop in Stroud.
33:38Alright, now things are getting interesting here.
33:41We found a Rolls Royce Silver Spur.
33:44Now this is a little bit more rock and roll.
33:47We fixed it up.
33:48It bounces.
33:49Or it floats.
33:50Floats.
33:51There.
33:52Fitted it out.
33:53It's got to go forward.
33:54There we go.
33:55Yes.
33:56And now, after a quick wash and scrub up, we're ready to take it on an outing.
34:11Now I'm feeling the part, you know, mate.
34:13I think you look the part as well.
34:15Yeah, you look great.
34:15I hope you like my scrap metal merchant's gear.
34:19It looks great.
34:20I like the bracelet as well.
34:22The pendant?
34:22And the fat gold chain.
34:24Yeah.
34:25Okay.
34:26Lost a bit of weight.
34:27It's not that fat.
34:28No.
34:28No.
34:29But at the same time, us, in the roller, going somewhere posh.
34:33It's going to be great.
34:34I can't wait to see what these two are wearing.
34:36I know.
34:38Morning.
34:39What's all this then?
34:40You're looking very dapper.
34:42Weren't you listening to him last week when he...
34:44He said, we're going out in the roller, look smart.
34:46Here we go.
34:47Yeah.
34:48Now look, can I just tell you where we're going?
34:50We are going to see Henry.
34:53Henry just happens to own a small...
34:58How do we describe it?
34:59I know.
35:00Castle.
35:01Oh, great.
35:02That sounds good.
35:02I like castles.
35:04You're more likely to get thrown out than us.
35:06No, no, not at all.
35:07I'll tell you what, Alan looks like a fig.
35:12Well, look, shall we?
35:13I suppose you'll have to get in the back, won't you?
35:15Gents in the back, my boys in the front.
35:17Yeah, right.
35:20And off we roll.
35:30That's a long, doesn't it?
35:31I can feel it wanting to go.
35:32Yeah.
35:33I like it as well.
35:38Your average Rolls-Royce is fitted with acres of soundproofing
35:41and now the suspension has been fixed.
35:44We're getting the full luxury experience.
35:50Isn't it a lovely ride now?
35:52Very smooth.
35:53It was very choppy before, wasn't it?
35:54Very smooth in the back.
35:56Yeah.
35:56Mate, I completely agree.
35:59Your friend, what was his name?
36:01Jamie.
36:01Your friend Jamie sorted us out large.
36:04Yeah, that's great.
36:05So, I'm really pleased that it was the simple job, the spheres.
36:09Actually, I haven't actually had the bill yet.
36:12The spheres weren't very much.
36:14But the...
36:15Yeah.
36:15He's...
36:16He's quite expensive though.
36:18Well, do you know, sage advice is worth the price.
36:26How far is it to the castle?
36:28Not far.
36:29About 40 miles.
36:30Not far enough.
36:31Oh, that's not far enough.
36:32I thought we'd go on a really long road trip.
36:34All right.
36:35Well, look, by the time we've come back, it's 80.
36:39Top speed is about 120.
36:41But cruising along at 50, it's like a feather bed, for the passengers at least.
36:51One sweet dream later, we arrive at our fantasy castle.
36:59Oh, yeah.
37:01I feel all posh, don't you?
37:06Oh, hello.
37:08Hey!
37:11Soodley Castle, near Cheltenham, is the family home of the Dent Brocklehursts.
37:15And my super posh mate, Hen, who I've arranged to meet after I show the team around.
37:23Now, I don't want you to get carried away, because we're not stopping for cake.
37:28Oh, hold on.
37:28No, no.
37:29Might be nice cakes.
37:30We're going to have tea with Henry.
37:32I can see them.
37:32They're there.
37:36It's famous for its historic gardens, and the picturesque ruins of the original castle
37:42that was almost destroyed during the Civil War.
37:47Please, face your eyes, man.
37:49Look at it.
37:50Isn't it just the most beautiful thing?
37:52It is, but it's ripe for a resto.
37:55Yeah.
37:56Look, obviously, there's a few walls missing, but build it all back up.
38:00Just think, we know somebody who's got a bit of flooring material.
38:04Tiles.
38:05That's some roofing material.
38:06I think it needs a bit more than flooring material.
38:08Exactly.
38:09And this, behind us, is what happens if you let people like us in.
38:13Yes, no, that is true.
38:14It was good until they turned up.
38:16Until the roundheads turned up.
38:17Right, come on then.
38:23Sudley's most famous resident was Catherine Parr, the only one of Henry VIII's wives to outlive him.
38:31She lay here undiscovered for quite some time.
38:34Really?
38:35Yeah.
38:35Have you just read the bit of paper?
38:37You have, haven't you?
38:38Go on, I'm interested.
38:39So, yes, she lay here until, I think, the 18th century when some visitors to the chapel noticed a plaster
38:47or alabaster panel and persuaded the local farmer to sort of dig underneath.
38:52And there they found a lead coffin that was inscribed with her name and her details on it.
38:58Thank God you're here.
38:59Allegedly, they opened it up.
39:01And when they opened it up, they found that not just bones or anything like that, but there she was,
39:07her corpse, perfectly preserved.
39:11Oh, scary.
39:12Also, the other thing, just generally, if you look at really old stained glass windows, they've lost the knack of
39:19how to stain them these colours.
39:20So, modern ones are not as rich.
39:23Hang on a second.
39:24I feel an affinity with this glass.
39:26Yeah?
39:26No.
39:27SPQR.
39:28Where?
39:29Yeah, there is.
39:30Yeah, there is.
39:30Small profit, quick return.
39:32I love it.
39:37And talking of small profit, quick return, I just wonder if the Lord of the Manor or his son might
39:44be interested in relieving himself of some of his fortune.
39:48Time to meet Henry and Mark.
39:51Welcome to our humble abode.
39:53Mate, here's a cuppa.
39:55Oh, lovely.
39:56Wonderful.
39:57Am I right in saying that Cromwell came here and blew it up?
40:01He did.
40:02And he actually left a trademark.
40:04Look, look behind you.
40:05That's, um, it's saved on the maintenance of the place.
40:08And the heating.
40:09And the heating too.
40:11Yeah.
40:11That was the original ballroom.
40:13That was the palace.
40:14Yeah.
40:14And actually what we're standing in here is the cavalry courses.
40:18I mean, you don't have many visitors, do you?
40:20Because there's no one here.
40:21Well, actually we've got loads of people here, but this is private.
40:25This is the private.
40:25I told you.
40:26I told you.
40:27We're in the private corner.
40:28You're in the inner sanctum.
40:30It said private.
40:30I just drove in.
40:32Is this where we get shown the door?
40:34No, no.
40:35No.
40:36We're dressed for the occasion.
40:36We're dressed for the occasion.
40:38And not only that, you've come in a nice white roller.
40:40So that will fit ten, doesn't it?
40:42I was just thinking it could be yours actually.
40:44Mark, if you're interested, right?
40:45I am interested.
40:46I think, I think you both look rough.
40:48Don't you think they'd look good in it?
40:50I think so, yeah.
40:51All right.
40:51But you're a bit of a petrol head anyway.
40:53I am.
40:54Love a good motor.
40:55I'll tell you what was amazing about the Rolls-Royce.
40:57It's the only British car I've been in that I feel luxurious in, firstly.
41:01And secondly, I look in my rear view mirror and he's not talking.
41:05He's asleep.
41:06He is.
41:07Look.
41:08I thought I was just nodding.
41:09I didn't realise I was comatose.
41:11No, you were.
41:11Yeah, you were.
41:12Asleep, clear sleep.
41:13And you were snuffling like my little dog.
41:16Now, Hen, in your tea room, I've got this lovely little visitor attraction.
41:21It's a little helicopter that you put 50p in, right?
41:24And it goes backwards.
41:25The kids will love it.
41:27Okay.
41:28To you, mate, 250 quid.
41:31Absolute bargain.
41:32I'd make it back in a week.
41:34250 quid?
41:35Yeah, that's it.
41:35I'm sold.
41:38I'm sold?
41:39Brilliant.
41:40I'm sold.
41:41Great, great, great.
41:41It's 50p a go.
41:44You're just going to rake it in.
41:45It's old school.
41:46Yes.
41:47I love that.
41:47It goes like this.
41:48Yes.
41:50But now you've bought it, only children about that high can get in.
41:53Yeah.
41:54And it needs a bulb in the top light.
41:55We can sort that out.
41:57We might put it in the museum as a bit of a retro.
41:59Good idea.
42:00Retro museum.
42:01Retro museum.
42:02This is great.
42:03We've now done a deal.
42:05This is lovely.
42:05And he might buy the roller.
42:06Happy days.
42:11Just in case he changes his mind, next day we get our resident dealer, Lord Roy of Classic
42:17Karsha, to come over and have a look at the roller.
42:20Look.
42:21It's very tidy, isn't it?
42:22Yeah.
42:23It's lovely in there.
42:26That's cured my constipation.
42:29What do you think?
42:31It's all right.
42:32Yeah.
42:32There's only one way this is going, isn't there?
42:35What's that?
42:35It's going to be a wedding car, isn't it?
42:37Well, it could be.
42:38Cut price weddings.
42:39Do you do weddings?
42:40Because it could be Roy's Rolls.
42:42Oh, do you?
42:42Roy, I've got to tell you, mate.
42:43Roy's Rolls.
42:44I do think, wouldn't Roy look good smoking around, innit?
42:47He would.
42:48I think it would really suit him.
42:49It would be brilliant.
42:50So what do you reckon it's worth?
42:53Oh, minimum seven, seven and a half happily.
42:57Come on.
42:57That's very good news.
42:58Are they seriously worth that much?
42:59I think they are.
43:00It's going to earn that in six months, isn't it?
43:02How much is that?
43:03Two grand.
43:04More than two grand profit.
43:06Well, if you say this costs four and a half, then that is, well, seven and a half.
43:10There's three grand profit there.
43:12Mate, potentially.
43:13Plus, there's a hundred quid profit on the heli.
43:14Yeah.
43:15Plus, we haven't sold the ROP, the two oil dispensers, and the he-he-he-he-he-Klaxon.
43:21I think that was a very good day's buying.
43:24No, this is what they call in the trade, mate.
43:26The ultimate nice little earner.
43:28You could even, I would be happy for a change if you kept the big sign for yourself for a
43:34change as a reward.
43:36Yeah, why not?
43:37We've got enough profit for you to take a tickle out of that.
43:39Guy, I think I'm falling in love with you.
