00:00Bill, what did you make of the draft this past year?
00:03I mean, I thought it lacked a little bit of sizzle, to be honest with you.
00:07But I think in the end, some teams definitely got better.
00:10And some teams, we were scratching our heads a little bit, I think.
00:13I would agree.
00:14You know, like next year's draft, we always say that next year is going to be amazing.
00:17But this year lacked a lot of that.
00:21I will say this, though.
00:22The Las Vegas Raiders got their franchise quarterback with Fernando Mendoza.
00:26They take trade in Stukes, safety out of Arizona that some people thought was a first-round pick.
00:32I thought they made picks after picks that were smart.
00:37So maybe after years of kind of just being this mediocre to bad to poor franchise,
00:43that they are making the right moves with Clint Kubiak and John Spitek to be a successful franchise in the
00:49AFC West.
00:50And I think it really does start with Fernando.
00:52I mean, if you tell anybody two years ago, hey, you're going to get Fernando Mendoza.
00:56Ashton Gentry, Brock Bowers, that's a nice set of playmakers to have on the offensive side of the ball.
01:02We'll see if they can put together.
01:03But they had a nice draft.
01:05Yeah, definitely so.
01:06You also like the Browns draft, and I understand for good reason.
01:09I mean, the number one key was obviously getting somebody to block up front.
01:14You know, quarterbacking is still going to be a question for them.
01:16But damn, some weapons came in, right?
01:18Concepcion and Boston immediately become the two best wide receivers, I would guess, in Cleveland.
01:23Nothing against Tillman or some of the other guys that they've had.
01:26But, you know, I mean, these two drafted players are bona fide number one wide outs for their teams in
01:33Texas A&M and Washington.
01:35Playmakers.
01:36And Concepcion adds some things in the return game.
01:38What I was impressed with with Cleveland was they didn't panic when Carnell Tate was selected fourth.
01:43You know, in past years, they may have made a rash move.
01:46Instead, what do they do?
01:46They trade down.
01:47They take Spencer Fano, who is one of the safest picks in the draft, a tackle that didn't allow a
01:53sack last season.
01:54Then you get the two receivers.
01:56And even into day three where they get Parker Brailsford, a center from Alabama who played at Washington, who could
02:02be –
02:02they got guys that could be starters for first-year Todd Munkin.
02:06And I think, you know, Craig, I do this every year, and you point to the Ravens, and you say
02:10the Ravens were great.
02:11But guys that played and coached for the Ravens and coached for Harbaugh, you know, John Harbaugh had a good
02:17draft with the Giants.
02:18Jesse Minner had a good draft with the Ravens.
02:20Todd Munkin has a good draft with the Browns.
02:22These guys know what they're doing, and you can call it safe, boring, whatever, but effective draft for the Cleveland
02:28Browns.
