00:00Mike Haas along with analyst Deuce McAllister. The draft is over. Saints had eight picks. They end up with five
00:05offense, three defense, three wide receivers.
00:09And if you were to kind of, I don't know, give an overall umbrella of this draft, it might be
00:16speed, right?
00:17Definitely speed. I think that was probably the most evident part of it. You were able to add some speed
00:22to this roster.
00:23You know, when you talk about whether it's the only offensive side of the ball with special teams, you know,
00:27and you even get some power defensively.
00:29And, you know, in some certain areas, but offensively, you wanted to get faster. You got faster.
00:35And as we probably talked about at the end of last year, beginning of this year, some weapons to help
00:41Tyler Shaw.
00:42Weapons around him, offensive line to better protect him with David Edwards and then in the draft as well.
00:48Three wide receivers and a tight end as well.
00:50Yeah, and I think, you know, that was probably the most critical part of it.
00:54You know, how can I help him make the game easier for him?
00:56And you were able to do so, you know, via free agency, but obviously the draft as well.
01:00And now it's just seeing how those pieces come together.
01:02You know, I'll be intrigued because the Saints were a heavy 11 team, three receiver team.
01:07And so you've got some pieces there.
01:09I don't know if you want to live in that formation a lot or you want to go with three
01:12tight ends or even 12, you know, two tight ends.
01:15And so they've got some options, and I think that's probably the most important part of it.
01:19It all starts up front, you know, and it starts up front.
01:22And then you have some guys via free agency as well as the draft that can help you interior, but
01:27you want your tackles to take that next step as well.
01:30I think that'll be critical.
01:31There's no surprise to this as we talk about Jordan Tyson, Christian Miller, Oscar Delp, Jeremiah Wright.
01:37Yes, they're written down right here.
01:38Bryce Lane, Lorenzo Stiles, Barry and Brown, and T.J. Hall from Iowa.
01:45I mean, just everything was yes, sir.
01:48Everything was just quality individuals.
01:50Don't know about team captains, but you could kind of tell the locker room players they were going after.
01:58A lot of them want to be here, too.
02:00I mean, you could hear it in the excitement.
02:01You know, it's not like, hey, I was frustrated.
02:03Maybe I lasted a little longer, but I'm excited to get to work.
02:06And, you know, wait, we don't get to go work next week.
02:09We have to wait.
02:09Come on, man.
02:10Yeah, and so I think you're excited about that.
02:13And then, you know, a couple of teammates always helps.
02:15But I think, you know, those guys that are willing to work, I don't care where you put me, coach.
02:20I just want to play.
02:21I want to contribute.
02:22That always helps, and that helps with, you know, you talk about trying to set a standard or having a
02:26standard.
02:26Those guys will meet that standard, and hopefully they elevate it for this group.
02:30And I think, you know, that'll be important because everything won't be perfect.
02:33It's never going to be perfect.
02:35There won't be a situation where, you know, you don't have some adversity.
02:38And so to have some guys that are willing to be able to fight through that adversity is definitely going
02:42to help you.
02:42We'll find out.
02:43Rookie minicamp, OTAs are right around the corner.
02:46I believe veteran minicamp is June 16th and 17th.
02:49And before you know it, it'll be training camp.
02:51For Analyst Deuce McAllister, I'm Mike Koss.
02:53So, again, www.amfm.com, but always free on the Odyssey app.
